Actually I think I originated this idea, but DGB went wild with it so I didn't want to point that out. I didn't think either of you were actually res'ing people as scum until Streeflo flipped the second time. I was just trying to muddy the waters with as much crazy speculation as possible since I knew my number was up.

And yeah your "let's kill QF" counter was also a nice parry to my case. If I were a townie with that many dead scum piled up I should have taken that deal.

Role: You are the cold fairy.

Win Condition: You do not win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.

Alignment: You prevent me from waking along with Speaker for the Dead and Aborted Elephant. You are not allowed to communicate with them outside of the game thread.

Night move: During each phase of Night you may PM me the name of one other player. You will extinguish that other player. Freeze them. Dead. You cold fairy. So send me a PM with the name of that player, because it is Night 1 right now!

~~~
Role: You are the aborted elephant.
Win Condition: You do not win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.
Alignment: You prevent me from waking along with Cold Fairy and Hamas Rabbit. You are not allowed to communicate with them outside of the game thread.
Night move: During each phase of Night you may PM me the name of one other player. You will crawl into that player's ear and whisper dark evils causing that player to probably harm some other player somehow. You will not be blamed: no-one will know that it was you that was making them do those horrible things. You foul little aborted elephant.
~~~
Role: You are hamas rabbit.

You will feature them on your early morning kiddie show, and you will identify the player as being an evil Zionist who not only painted a picture of the Prophet, but then did something unspeakably vile to it as well. You will cause that player's death. You have that power because you are Hamas Rabbit.
~~~
Role: You are the speaker for the dead.
Win Condition: You do not win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.
Alignment: You prevent me from waking along with Hamas Rabbit and Cold Fairy. You are not allowed to communicate with them outside of the game thread.
Night move: If there is a player who is dead, you can send me a PM, and I may forward it to a dead player of your choice. The dead may be able to communicate with you via a similar means. Possibly. You can probably convince the other players that you can since you are the Speaker for the Dead.
~~~
Role: You are anubis.

Win Condition: You do win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.

Alignment: You not prevent me from waking.

Night move: Each night you may PM me the name of a target player. If that player is dead, you may be able to bring them back to life. If another player sees you it will probably look to them like you are trying to suck your target's soul out through their breath. If your target is actually alive you may actually accidentally suck their soul out, leaving them extinguished and dead. Other players will naturally fear and loath you -- they will not understand you --you are Anubis.

Once the Night 1 deadline has expired, or I have received night moves from all players who have one, I will post an opening scene and open the game thread.

~~~
Role: You are the soulless writer.
Win Condition: You do win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.
Alignment: You not prevent me from waking.
Night move: You edit the reality of my dream to suit your fancy. You change ending to suit your whim and fancy. You are the kind of writer that brings a character back for your mere convenience. Like for book sales. you are a hack. Each night phase you can bring one dead player of your choice back to life. You hack, you are the Soulless Writer.
(Modnote: this is the nerf role to compensate for how swingy N1 is going to be. After the first night I decided that he resurrects all players as scum, unless Anubis is dead then he resurrects all players as townie)
~~~
Role: You are the dark child.

Win Condition: You do win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.

Alignment: You not prevent me from waking.

Night move: Each night PM me the name of one other player. You will shadow that player and see everything they do and everything that someone does to them that night. They will not know that you are tracking and watching them, because you are the Dark Child.

~~~
Role: You are Xiao
Win Condition: You do win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.
Alignment: You not prevent me from waking.
Night move: Each night you may PM me the name of one other player. You will find the hollow part of that player's neck and bite your way through to the hollow part of their chest. It is warm in there. Onlookers will see fountains of blood, and your target wil be very aware of what you are doing to her. You have the body of a large Pigeon and the head of a six month-old fetus. You will see what they see, and what happens to them also happens to you. You are a painful little parasite, you are Xiao.
~~~

Role: You are the talking tattoo.

Win Condition: You do win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.

Alignment: You not prevent me from waking.

Night move: None, but you are allowed to post in the thread after you are dead.
~~~
Role: You are sparky!
Win Condition: You do win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.
Alignment: You not prevent me from waking.
Night move: PM me the name of one player and we will all see what happens!
(modnote: results are posted in the scene printed in small bold letters between every night/day cycle)
~~~
Role: You are a bloated autocrat you corrupt piece of filth!

Win Condition: You do win if I wake up before the morning of the Eight day.

Alignment: You not prevent me from waking.

Night move: none

Other Power: You have a rigged election system that keeps you alive and in power. During the game you can cast a total of three corrupt votes. To use one of your corrupt votes simply post in bold letters "corrupt vote: {player name}" in the game thread. You can use them all in one day. You are so lazy that you don't even bother to hide your corruption anymore, you've become the bloated autocrat.
~~~
N0 (called N1 in the rolepms) results:
Sparky  tracks  Speaker for the Dead (results are published in the thread)
Dark Child  tracks  Anubis
Aborted Elephant  whispers in the ear of  Xiao (forcing Xiao to kill his target)
~~~

note that DGB's role was designed to be nerfed to compensate for N0 swingyness.

How would that work. I can see the pro-town swinginess, but what about pro-scum. What if three scum kills had all gone through, and a tracker "caught" AE's target in the act of killing?

In your specific example both DGB and Cicero would have been both straight resurrectors, and I considered making Anubis lynch immune and/or DGB NK immune if something like that happened.

What I was more worried about was one or both resurrectors being killing that first night. I designed the game while thinking about the trade off between night start and day start games, and I saw changing the mod notes on role pm's after N0 actions were sent in to be a good way to compensate for swingyness.

I wanted the game to be as balanced as possible
after
N0 actions were resolved so that Day 1 would begin with a balanced start.

Ohh so you actually had floating roles that would not be completely determined until after the N0 actions. I gotcha now. Also explains your reply to me inquiring about killing as a ghost :)

Oh wow, that's insane. The scum only knew two partners?

Shit, I had no idea shaft.ed and roffman were scum. If I did, I definitely would not have tried to push for roffman's lynch. I believed his survivor role and thought I was buying time by lynching him.

I was under the impression that cicero and sparky were my partners, because of the resurrection. And shaft.ed was the only scum alive D1 before I was resurrected.

One interesting thing about this game was that I think we all (and maybe it was just me) went into day one after seeing the two scum deaths assuming that we just had a sweep up exercise to do and that the game had already started into a process of elimination later game phase. I'm glad the cult mechanism was there (shhh...dont tell anyone I said that!) because it confounded that expectation and really kept us guessing.

I can see, Adel, how you might have been disappointed that the game got to be more about mechanic probing then about scumtells, but that's really what happens a lot with any weird mechanic game, and its a refreshing change so long as people are braced for the fact that it will be a weird game going in to it.

During the duration of this game, I dropped out of a couple of games because I didnt have the time or energy to put into them. But this one I stayed in because it did have a bit of a more relaxed feel to it in that respect. It was good. I liked it.

Ugggh. I just realized we could have won this thing if Streeflo outed himself and we corrupt voted cicero day 3. I think from this I've learned to never give up even if things seem impossible.

How did the scum feel about their being no night talk allowed at all? I think that would have pissed me off in your shoes.

Well obviously it would have broken Adel's elegant three man knowledge set-up. But I have to say, being on the chopping block and knowing death would have allowed me to talk to my scum partner gave me some peace in dying.

But for the most part I didn't care much. I've never been a part of a scum group that actually used the night phase successfully so it didn't seem like I was missing out on anything.

I also just realized this is the second time as scum I've been in a 50/50 townie/scum situation during the day and lost. That has to be some kind of record.
