Ythill wrote:Illuminati is fun, but Betrayal is better IMO.
For those who haven't played, here's a synopsis. It starts as an exploration game where each player controls a character poking around in a classic haunted mansion. During the early phases, the goal is to build one's stats and keep the whole group strong. As play progresses, certain events require players to roll dice to determine whether a "haunt" has occured. Once the haunt starts, one player becomes the traitor. He goes into another room and reads some special secret rules for the scenario. Meanwhile, the other players read their own secret scenario rules and plot against the traitor. Then he comes back and play continues until one team achieves its secret win condition.
Is the traitor known by players? It's unfortunate that good oral sex excuses bad chemistry. - Korts-

Betrayal is an absolutely fun concept, but in my opinion suffers from EXTREME balance issues. In my experience, maybe one in five haunts is anything other than a complete stomp by one of the sides.
My recommendation for a party board game would be Puzzle Strike, a game that takes the best elements of Dominion and adds some new ones (more player interaction, characters instead of symmetric starts, a more exciting "last man standing" wincon without dominion's lame duck.) I must profess bias here though as I'm very much in tune with the design ideals of Sirlin and I love everything he makes. :p
I'd bring my copy but as a poor college student I have basicially zero chance of attending scumstorm, barring me getting my parents to fund the trip :/
Oman: When the haunt starts, he is, but there IS no traitor at the start. You play co-op until an event triggers the haunt and turns it to traitor v. everyone else."Don’t buy a dozen eggs if you just want a hardboiled egg. That hasn't been my experience with it, though I'm told they did fix the balance for 2e, which is what I have. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.-

A quick googling shows that my copy is 1e (underground lake on the roof ftw), so there you go."Don’t buy a dozen eggs if you just want a hardboiled egg. I suppose it depends on what you're using that as a euphamism for.One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. That's significantly less fun, then.
Also, I have my doubts that your place is large enough to comfortably contain a full cord of wood.
Also, I told your wife I have some firewood you can have, if you're willing to dry it out, but I guess that's no issue anymore. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. That's interesting. I don't really consider it that fun.Oman wrote:Actually chopping wood is still one of my favourite things to do.Show"Take me to Pleasure Town!" "Look, the most Glorious Rainbow Ever!" "Do me on it!" -

Sorry, I'm coming from the other side of OR. But watch this page and you might find someone closer to the deadline.chkflip wrote:if somebody is passing through the Sac area to go to this, I'd be down to throw all $200 of my EBT food card for dining. Probably won't happen since nobody ever trusts (or wants to see) the new guy, but I just thought I'd throw it out there since the pics from the last one (?) looked so entertaining.
I don't know CA well enough, but I know that people like RC and NS are going to drive up, so."This is the true face of a man who plays paladin."-

So, throwing it out there, I may try to make this if y'all will have me. Most of the people I enjoy interacting with onsite will be there so it sounds like a good time. The only problem is transportation, I don't mind driving, I just don't want to drive alone. If someone is coming through KY and wants to swing by Louisville, or wants to come to louisville and meet up with me there, I have no issues carpooling!
(That or I could find a flight to Seattle pretty cheap if someone else wants to ride me from there(gas money included of course)
(yes, this is early, but I'm just saying)-

Please, dude, you're in too deep to claim innocence at this point.Ythill wrote:
