Hey guys, just to make my "server is getting huge" comment clearer.
The thing that makes a world bigger in Minecraft is not how far apart people are from each other, but how many chunks are generated. So it is not so much a problem of you living somewhere remote, but of the many many useless sea chuncks that are generated when you do. If you really want to find new land, I would suggest going through the nether, since that generates 1/8th of the land.
Why is it a problem if the server gets too big, though? Well, the real practical problem is backup problem. If each world is a 700Mb beast, it limits how many backups I can keep on my hard disk at the same time (maybe I should buy a Minecraft dedicated hard disk ), also, it means that making backups takes longer (right now it takes about 4 hours for me to download a backup from the server).
Anyway, if I ever decide to clip the world, there are plenty of unused sea chunks to be axed first, so don't worry yet! By the way, if you are building in the middle of nowhere in the sea, make sure that your building is clearly visible from dynmap - a big flag or somehting. If you want to build an indetectable secret base, I suggest doing it under a land masshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo-

The only big downside of that is you would need a lot of obsidian and you're going to make a lot of portals that just end up on small little 4x4 islands, which there's a lot of out there. It would take even longer to do it that way due to how many different places you might end up.First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.-

Oh, and I'm upgrading chevre's contest (because I love building contests).
The winner of the contest, besides whatever prize Chevre gives, will also get one week of Fly-mode in the server! The week can be redeemed any time between when the winner is announced, an December 31st. Just send me a PM.
If the winner is a mod of the server, the highest placed non-mod winner will get this prize.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo-

Hmmm. That is true. Well, let me know before doing any big sea expeditions, so I can check for server size and prune the useless sea chunks as necessary.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo-

I know you can clip all the islands/sea south of my island where I built. I should be the furthest explored southern territory on the server. All of that below my island(you can easily see where my island is if you look for torches/any sort of buildings) can be deleted. It's just extra exploring I did to see if there was any special places I felt like building on. I left a few surprise packages and monuments down that way as well in case anyone else took the same path south but it's unnecessary if the server is getting too big.First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.-

Xalxe. I'm going to have to have to abandon my current idea for the dueling arena...what I have in mind is just too epic. I spent a while in Creative Mode on a Superflat in SSP just building the frame and getting the Redstone circuit that powers the Exhill Doors to work correctly. It was going well but I was in Creative and even then it was intense. Maybe if I win the flying we could build it...but we should just flesh out a simpler arena in the meantime.
You down?-

The Omnom block should actually be the Fishy block but I don't mind the attention~<3“Leftover lady, let alone the strongest to be subdued.

Reck, about slime:
Non-spoilery:
Slimes appear deep underground (under depth 20), in wide open spaces. They are very rare.
Spoilery
There are specific chunks where slimes can be generated. If you google "minecraft slime finder", you will find many webpages that can list such chunks based on your seed. After finding a slime chunk, carve a large room, at least 3 blocks high, and keep it well lighted. Slimes will eventually spawn there, even though they are still rather rare.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo-

@Claus: What's our seed number? I found a place that can find slimes on your server but I need level.dat file or a seed #.
Also... what's the reasoning behind ten people being the cap on the server? Is it the harddrive space? It might be possible for me to set up an old computer we have around here to be a dedicated server or something if that's the case. Not sure, I'd have to look into it.green shirt thursdays-

Reck:
- I think the seed number is displayed when you press "F3", if not, I will try to find it later.
- The cap is based mostly on the memory capacity of the server. I can upgrade it if needed, but I don't think we reach that cap that often. It seems to me that we have at most 5-6 people online on very busy days.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo
