Tabris is steeped in sorrow from the harsh critique of his performance, and of the script that does not speak of Evangelion with enough accuracy. Yet, Tabris speaks up, his voice choked with sadness, to Death; for those that are shunned by the living, Death always has welcoming arms.
Those were my thoughts exactly, Death. We can test the lying liars with Crone just the same as we can with Mother. It's so in-your-face obvious.
The explanation that it's just another ploy by the decepticons to make us choose Mother at all costs is very attractive. The decepticons don't seem to mind at all making themselves obv-decepticon, and being stoned to death the next day. Thus they serve poisoned wine in front of the whole town. Later, while the good citizens are punishing the branded decepticons for their shameless misdeeds, the other decepticons are hiding safely in the shadow of the executioners.
Those shadow dwellers are going to make it to the play's end scene, while the rest of the suicidal decepticons are going to burst into flames of their own making.
