It's pretty common for the game to get boring after D1 regardless of how competitive that is.
When it's D1 players have about nothing in their mind yet and anything they find make them feel pretty confident about themselves.
However, as game progresses, there's nothing new to learn and players frequently get paranoid about that stagnancy, frequently doubting themselves and at the same time being unable to change their reads completely.
1) People generally don't start scumreading me for no reason until after day 1 and it's nice to be able to comfortably play town leader. Generally when I'm kept alive past D1 it's because I'm at least somewhat viably a mislynch
2) It's a lot more fun and a lot more rewarding to put scum teams together before any of them have flipped as opposed to after.
3) idk if I'm phrasing this right, but I feel like on later days people generally have a lot of preconceptions about the gamestate whereas on D1 everything is up in the air and it's a lot easier to convince people they're wrong, or lead on scum who are playing well.
2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.
I definitely think the game in a powerless game gets boring for town quicker than mafia. In a way, power roles combat the inherent scumsided aspect of the game and the boredom for townies. I know I personally get rejuvenated when I see a red flip.
I find games with shorter deadlines to be more fun because they allow very few space to massive reconsidering and if it happens then it's harder for scum to handle in the other end.
Game stagnancy can be pretty devastating for town. When the game is more dynamic, people tend to have more fun atleast. It's like why MU is more townsided than MS.
Don’t be so hyperbolic, Creature. Geriatric is not playing once every 14-days. Though I do think Geriatric can be improved slightly. I do think that more dynamic games are townsided, but aren’t we already experiencing a massive shift in win rates in favor of town? Flag gametypes excluded.
The issue with geriatric games isn't the ruleset it's that there's always several townies who don't put any real effort in and the game becomes no contest for scum.

Let's stop that geriatric I-can-only-play-once-every-14-days bullshit.
Problem isn't with day length, problem is with mentality. You can end days way sooner, but people need that deadline pressure dangling over them to get their shit together and commit to a lynch
I actually try to avoid the spammy lists because it’s too hard to keep up and I primarily phone post. I fear that it is going to be very hard to find a non-spammy, non-geriatric list.
In post 47, Shoshin wrote:I think these non-PR games are a lot more fun personally. It reduces to the basics of scumhunting & manipulating, and exposes skill differences much more dramatically. As a result, the games might look much more one-sided, either in town or scum's favor. I don't think that means the game is inherently imbalanced to one side.
