A townie wouldn't vote for one self. No matter what way you look at it, it would be anti-town.

Scum would self-vote if they are stupid and think that they can trick the townies into thinking they are "not affraid of dying".

Reactions. Obviously.

Yes it is. I am town, and I am self-voting. I don't intend to get myself lynched -- that's the point where it stops being town-motivated, regardless of alignment.

Wrong again. You've never played with townies whose meta includes self-voting.

Am I antitown town or stupid scum? Pick one.

As town, you're voting for literally the only person in the game who you know isn't scum (yourself). Sort of the definition of anti-town.

Ok the self vote thing seems dumb. I don't like the reaction test thing as an excuse but it could be easy for both people voting Grib to do it as a safe excuse.

In my games on this site so far I've learned that the reaction test tends not to work out well at all and it comes off very anti-town like. Seems to be the sentiment here.

UNVOTE:

Because even with a vote count posted above him he doesn't know who he's voting for.

In my experience, self-voting attracts two kinds of voters: townies who switch their brains off when they perceive something to be 100% antitown, and scum who think they can hop on an easy wagon.

It was worth a shot.

Well I think its both. It is an easy wagon for scum to hop on but I think self voting is 100% antitown in general. It doesn't mean you are anti-town for sure but its an anti-town thing to do. If town didn't do anti-town things then we wouldn't have mislynches.

I really don't think self-voting is all that antitown, especially on D1 during pseudo-RVS. Eh.

Why does Zymf forgetting his vote make him scum?

I've seen more 'lack of attention' on this site be purposeful so I'm spotting it early. It actually cost me my last game cuz Flubber lured me into a trap.

for ignoring me and then hopping on my wagon.

I ignored it at first because my gut reaction was "ah ha, self-vote in RVS, cheeky and cute." When Aronis seemed pretty convinced that it was not a protown move, I decided to do a bit more digging, as I am fairly new to mafia and always intrigued by the opinions of more experienced players. It turns out that the general consensus of self-voting is that it is not, in fact, a good reaction test, or even a good RVS move, since (as I pointed out) you are literally voting for the ONLY player in the game of whose alignment you can be sure. It is scummy (at worst) or anti-town (at best), which is why I placed my vote on you at that time. That being said, I feel that it is a weak tell (bad play =/= scummy play), so I am willing to change my vote if/when someone else does something that pings my scumdar harder.
