As an addendum to the above - it's not so much being protective of another player, it's calling out crap and spreading it across the (highly figurative) lawn for everyone else to see. If hohum used these three separate scum tactics against three separate players, I still would be calling him out on it.
Scumplay is scumplay, regardless of who it targets.

What, I posted yesterday, how often do you expect me to post?alexhans wrote:And Charrat too... They didnt do anything else than vote once.
I reread the thread twice to try to get an idea of what has everyone tossing accusations left and right. So far, it seems like people have been making Mountains Out Of Molehills. Mostly misunderstandings and hastey conclusions. The only thing I have seen so far that had me raise an eyebrow was hohum outlining Artem's 3 supposed scumtells, none of which seem really scummy to me at all.
Also, seg saying that not reading the thread means you are either lazy or scum is funny, because a good scum player would probably read a thread just as thoroughly as a good townie. Its more likely that someone who doesn't read the thread completely is either a lazy townie or a lazy mafia, AKA just lazy and/or busy.Play WARRING FACTIONS, a notoriously addictive free strategy game played in a browser OR an utterly complex and unforgiving real-time strategy.-

Its unfortunate that this game started right before a busy Saturday out on the town for me. But I'm here, I swear! (And it hasn't even been 48 hours, either!)
unvotemy joke vote because this Day 1 got rolling pretty fast.
@alexhans: I don't find Green Crayon's attitude towards Hohum too aggressive. The mood had just become serious, with the alexhans-Artem-hohum spat, and GC made a good point. If GC is too aggressive, Hohum is as well for the vote that he even said was going to get him some flak.
Its a bit of a different jokevote -> serious phase-shift for me; I'm used to the joking lasting a bit longer, but it doesn't really matter in the end.
I agree with the statements made about "gut talk," it always rubs me the wrong way when someone votes but doesn't outline any reasons like ZEEnon in 36, and even Azhrei in 44 though he didn't vote.-

i don't see why so many peoplealexhans wrote:Oh, and voting by a gut feeling is not good enough. We need reasons.
have a problem with the 'gut feeling' .
my post about that was intended to be funny,
and there isn't anything serious enough to vote on .
don't kill yourselves over it . let the mafia do it. *wink*
fact: people are gonna suspect me 'cause of that last remark.

it's called a life OUTSIDE of the computer.
unfortunately, i don't think you've been informed of that, Magus_Stragus.
due to a ski trip i went today, i had to be away from the computer
for more than three hours. i apologize for not posting in that time.
it's probably the same for seb456. although he might just have nothing to say .
..or he could be trying to go on unnoticed.
either way, don't try to make people seem suspicious
just because they have other matters to attend to.-

I never said you were suspicious. I just was stating that you and seb only had two posts (one of them being the /confirmation) in three pages. That means that you need to post more, either to know your opinion, or to know that you are still with us.If God wanted us to see the beauty of sunrises, He would surely have put them after 10:00 am.-

now coming to a total of six .
i've also been observing, (and impatiently waiting)
for people to post . i have a lot
of spare time on the weekends with no school .
also, if you weren't implying we were suspicious,
why didn't you include Azhrei as well ?
i believe he has posted far less .

Important clarification on votecount.
The votecount written in Indigo at the top of every page is by me.
I edit it into the first post of each page with my magic mod power.
If I make a mistake, address me with:
Mod:[nature of mistake]
Please do this instead of quoting the votecount to avoid confusion.

My playstyle usually gets a few eyebrow raises and I tend to accumulate votes quite quickly during Day 1. However, there's always rhyme and reason behind my actions, so in the end there are usually plenty of nice reactions to analyze.alexhans wrote:mmm I still don't like your fast paced vote change Artem (especially after someone just voted for Hohum wich could be viewed as bandwaggoning). Although many of the things you say are reasonable.
Outside of calling out obvious lurkers, I'm generally not a big fan of such posts, because they fall under "posting for the sake of posting" category.Magus wrote: ZEEnon and seb456 need to post more.
If the call to post more was part of a larger post, where Magus outlined some of her (his? your avatar is missing a gender icon) other thoughts, then it's one thing. When the call to post is the only thing in the post, one can argue that Magus wants to appear contributing to the game, without giving any actual content.
At this point I read the post as eagerness to hear from others, so I'm not calling it a scum-tell.
How is your gut feeling since I made my last post?Azhrei wrote: Myself, the only person who I'm getting a scummy vibe off is Artem, but I can't really say why. It's just a gut feeling at the moment, but it has nothing much to back it up.
@ZEE: Same question.-

It's her, but I don't really care much about it.
Well, I haven't voted yet, because I prefer to analyse things better before lying down a vote (and I'm not much of a random voter, 'cept from the first random vote). But well, I guess I'll post my thoughts now.
First, I don't think that Artem's first actions were scummy. I mean, the firsts pages of the game are usually for random voting to pick up reactions from the other players. It's true that he made several accusations, but it was in an early stage of the game. For me, it's just a tactic to gather more information.
Second, I don't like how hohum (I believe it was him) is using/used previous games as arguments for this one. It is true that players may follow the same strategies over games, but I don't think it's valid arguments to use previous games.
Third, though Green attack may seem aggressive, I think that itlooksaggressive due to the fact that it was done in the random/joking stage. A serious comment in the middle of a joking chat can be perceived as aggressive. And also, he explained why the situation.
Fourth, I don't like lurkers. My opinion on them is that they're trying to pass under everyone's radar. Also, if townie lurkers don't provide with much help for the town, so, I prefer to lynch them over a contributing but a bit more suspicious townie. That being say, I'll cast my vote;
Vote: seb456zigIf God wanted us to see the beauty of sunrises, He would surely have put them after 10:00 am.-

I think a good default position is to vote for the least active player when you have no other suspicions to go by (which can be the case on Day 1). I would much rather lynch a complete lurker than an active but slightly scummy person this early in the game. We still have lots of time to talk, however, so I won't be parking my vote any place just yet.

I don't know. I think Artem is very scummy, but I seem to be in the minority on that opinion right now. I'll let it go until I see him drop more tells.
I don't really buy that his attack on Alex is anything other than a serious attack, because it certainly didn't come off as sarcastic to me.

@hohum: whats an IGMEOY, im guessing its a stronger version of a hos, but anyway...
@people accusing me of lurking: i hope you realise I dont spend all day on the computer, and when i am on the computer i would only check forums once. Dont you (Magus) think that voting a supposed lurker isnt smart this early in the game. Isnt it too early to even lurk? anyway...FoS:Magusbecause of trying to get me bandwagond for no real reason. Inactivity isnt a scumtell in my book, but i think posts that dont help the town are (like your one).
Could you please explain your logic on voting me so early in the game?
(i repeat myself a lot, sorry about that. Its a habit.)I'm slightly older than Ani, that makes me slightly better than him!
