Everything you guys did was wrong. We compiled a list.
1) To fix spider spawning, you put half slabs, not some gay ass water current that creates a fuckton more server lag.
2) If you have a 2 block wide hole, you need a 2 block wide tunnel with a two block wide lava blade
3) Learn to use lava. Water perpendicular to lava blade hrng.

1) a single water current does not create lag. In fact, once the water has recognised that it's not actively changing, it creates NO lag. Do you even know how fluids work?
2) Erm. No, you don't.

1) hardly. The lava off to the side kills them pretty efficiently - if the cap is reached, it's far more likely to be because the area isn't lit up properly.
2) Yeah, a 2-wide tunnel might be more efficient, but it doesn't make any difference. Also, you said that you need it because the hole is 2-wide, which doesn't even make sense. Did you look at how I set up the water?
3) Mobs are stupid. Mobs swim in water. Again - did you even look at how I set it up?

How you set it up was causing the server to lag so much every mob was glitching and no items would drop.

Meh, I'm not a fan of lava blades anyway. If I had it my way, I'd use a fall damage grinder. Much more effective, nowhere near as glitchy, and you can stack the farm without screwing everything up. But whatever. Your farm.
