Also, I didn't understnad what you meant by enough people beleiving to get a desired effect. You mean, itturns out to help the town anyway (even if he's scum), or you suspect he's manipulating the town, or something else?

I mean I wasn't sure if you were the last person to claim gender in here. If I was a female and I was teh last to claim and I was scum and I saw that there were more males than females, you better bet I'm going to claim male. But that's besdie the point.

I mean that yes, even if Fritzler is scum, his claim was solid enuogh that everyone agreed to claim as he asked. This has helped the town narrow scum to (in this case) one of four people in one section and one of 6 in another. This is a good thing. Unless everyone was lying. Which is unlikely. It would make sense that ther would be more males than females; there were two male brothers and one female siste,r so a 4-4-4 ratio is easy enough.

An old man sleeps soundly in his bed... when he suddenly hears an incessant screeching noise. His eyes open quickly – and the fact that is tired is very apparent as the whites of eyes are riddled with red lines. He turns his ears away from the window... but to no avail. The screeching continues.

He puts the pillow on his head. No change – the horrible sound is still loud and clear. After five more minutes of tossing, turning, and muttering to himself, he decides enough is enough.

Just as he opens the window, holding a boot in his right hand, there is a loud *thud* followed by another softer *thud* of something falling from a fence onto the pavement. Rolling his eyes, the old man tosses his boot at the cat for good measure, before retiring back to bed.
