Ugh that sucks Amrun. I hope it evens out and works better for you.

I generally have pretty heavy bleeding and ended up getting a mirena iud a few months ago. My period has been super unsettled since but definitely lighter, light enough to use period underwear or reusable pads pretty comfortably. I really really like it even though I still get some cramping on occasion.

I probably could have gotten government funding for it, since I had some recent blood test results indicating low iron, but I was dumb and didn't tell the nurse that.

I think if I was done having kids I’d do the IUD. Still considering.

So far this period or whatever it is has been light so it’s not as bad as I feared. Still bleeding though.

Did anyone get worse symptoms on Nuvaring the longer they were on it? I still have my cycle so I am finding the intensity of symptoms odd.

Ugh, worst IUD shit is when it's around the time a period would be happening, so hormone migraines, bloating, mood shifts, and cramps still hit, but hey no bleeding or babies right? bluuuuh. Also additional worst part is higher hormones on that also means I get to regularly fight with facial hair too and it suuuuuucks, worst thing to inherit from my mom. Bluh bluh bluh.

Here I am, awake again. I couldn't eat dinner last night because it smelled bad. Then I wake up at 2 AM and must eat. Nuvaring is really odd.

When I restarted it, I actually thought I was pregnant and took a test because it was like a mild version of what I felt when I was first pregnant. This makes me think of that!

I've had bleeding twice this month, I didn't consent to that at all. I'm blaming stress for the change in this, but thank fuck it's still only light one day situations.

Ugh. Im on the depo but the occasional break through bleeding has been like constant this month and suddenly really heavy. I have an appointment this month to either get another shot or go back on the mini pill (I can't go on the full one because of migraines) and try to see if that helps. I really just want to be off contraception entirely, I was much happier pregnant and not full of artificially hormones.

I hate being on artificial hormones but the alternative is worse. Intense pain, bleeding and still irregular periods.

I’m mostly fine on birth control except it makes sex dull and flat. I still want it, but remain perpetually unfulfilled. Super annoying.

Also I seem to get more migraines on - known link, so not terribly surprising. I’ve had to start a new daily preventative because I’ve been consistently back on birth control. Ugh.

I love my (copper coil) IUD so much. When I tried hormonal birth control it made me throw up every morning; granted I haven't been willing to test them all to check if there's one that doesn't, but it just feels like such a crapshoot.

The only potential side effect it has is heavier periods, but mine went back to normal after about 6 months. However, this past year I've had some weird period stuff going on... extra heavy; two in one month; unexpected spotting etc. I'm not sure if it's something caused by my coil or something new that's come about, e.g. PCOS or endometriosis. I assumed both of these were untreatable, but it's been useful to read here that some people have good results with having cysts removed - I didn't even know that was an option. It's been okay lately, but if it comes back maybe I'll speak to a doctor to try and find out what's happening; also when there's not a major public health situation going on.

If you want another kids maybe you could try getting off contraception for a while and see if your body can regulate itself.
