@pie: I liked that card better when it was the 3cmc version that was a mini staticaster+card draw hybrid.

The new planeswalker is very strong. Good defensive ability. +1 is kinda meh, and the ultimate is very strong, although one rarely ultimates planeswalkers.
The only thing about Ral is that his +1 ability doesn't really work as defensive. They still get to untap their permanent next turn.
