It's not even really a killing game. It's essentially just Phoenix wright with a bit more open world. (Not that that's a bad thing. It's a cool game)
“Why was I chosen?'
'Such questions cannot be answered,' said Gandalf. 'You may be sure that it was not for any merit that others do not possess. But you have been chosen, and you must therefore use such strength and heart and wits as you have.”
aahh good caught up just in time for the show to jump the shark tho
yeah, sorry, i disliked the forbidden actions thing from the getgo but that's just driving home how stupid they are lol w/e
also, it's blatantly obvious at this point that the attacker is the 16th person we haven't seen yet. i mean that ep left 5 people alive, and obv none of munakata/makoto/hina are the attacker. and the anime dude is really unlikely too, but not impossible.
anyways yeah not really satisfied with how they handled that tho
I saw a fairly decent theory that Kirigiri ain't dead, she had a bottle of Seiko's cure next to her when they woke up. Also, I'm in the camp that Asahina is dead and it's Chisa impersonating her.
I wouldn't be surprised. I think at this point it's eother Asahina!Chisa or Mitarai as the only really viable traitors. Mitarai has been kinda sketch from the beginning, but I feel there's too much red herringness with him in zersubou-hen for it to be true
there's still a 16th person unaccounted for and while yes the first game did this it was sort of a red herring here, so they do have the opportunity to play it straight perhaps
My guess for what's 'going on' with the text message is that Mitarai's NG code was turning on his phone; Tengan had sent whatever is within that text during the first lights out and is still legitimately dead.
It would explain quite a lot if it's assumed that he figured out how the deaths happened fairly early on and had a way of combating it on his phone. He's been feeling a lot of guilt throughout the series and it would make a lot of sense if it was a situation of he could prevent others from dying at the cost of his own life, but he's allowing those deaths to happen needlessly.
Thank god because this who series went up in flames lol. Zetsubou-hen was offensively bad, Mirai-hen failed to have a compelling though, and Kibou-hen was just fanservice. I had such hope for this series too.
I have faith in Kodaka. I think part of DR3's problem was that he was only a writer on Mirai-hen(the better half), and even then he was sharing the position with some other dude. I can't imagine Kodaka would have doubled down on
brainwashing
so much on his own, he has a really good sense of how to create good moral dilemmas.
Spoiler: dr3
By far my least favorite aspect of this series is how much it removed all the agency from SDR2's cast and also how it made SDR2's plot worthless and also how it generally had OC Donut Steels do nothing but shit up the place. Juza and Munakata were good, but everyone else--especially if they're named Mitarai or Ruruka--can go burn in the hell of non-canon.
ruruka is the worst character in the entire series tbh, she does absolutely nothing of value and only makes everyone's life worse, in both arcs. the only good thing was seeing how badly she mutilated herself, and how nobody ever found her or even cared. her only motivations were totally selfish desires at the expense of others
