Newbie #255 - Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing (GAME FINALLY OVER!)

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Thu Jul 13, 2006 9:55 am

Betrayal, lies, broken hearts - looks like a Mafia game alright! Just seven of you will be enough to cast this steamy little
ménage à sept
. But not everyone's what they seem...

Players:
  • Dur-Galad
  • Drummer
  • Ameliaslay
  • Kryptonite
  • MrBuddyLee
  • Elias_the_thief (
    replaced Asperis
    )
  • spectrumvoid (
    who replaced Maverick who replaced JDodge who replaced dwarfman before the game
    )
Game over; see page 8 for roles and winners.

Mais oui!
And yet, this would all be a lot easier to figure out if you weren't sure that some of you were unfaithful. Two of you, in fact, though you're not sure who else is what. Here's the possibilities:

Roles:

2 people are
Scum:
The Mod wrote:You are a
Scummy Cheater
, along with your partner _________. Your goal here is simple; break up the happy little party, betray, cheat, lie, steal, and destroy those who oppose your desire for "free love". You may talk with your (ahem)
partner
at Night, and send me a choice via PM of who you wish to eliminate from the group. During the Day, try to blend in with the rest, and get someone thrown out (lynched). If that someone is not your partner or yourself, that will make things much easier, by the way. You win when there are not enough people oppose your sick lusts (1 or 2 loyal lovers, depending on how many of you live).
Either 1 person, or nobody, is a
Doctor:
The Mod wrote:You are a trained
Relationship Counselor (Doctor)
as well as being a loyal part of this confusing little love heptagon, and you can protect people from harmful emotions and actions at night. Each Night, you may send me a choice via PM of who to protect; if they come under attack by those wicked, they will live. You win if both of the cheaters are eliminated, so choose wisely at Night, and try to lynch correctly during the Day. In Newbie Games, you can rely on your protections 100%, but if you announce yourself you may become a target for scum. You may not protect yourself, alas.
Either 1 person, or nobody, is a
Cop:
The Mod wrote:You are a
Private Investigator (Cop)
as well as being a loyal part of this confusing little love heptagon, and you can tell good from bad. Each Night, you may send a player's name to me; I will let you know if your investigation shows that they are Cheat or Loyal. You win if both of the cheating scum are eliminated, so choose wisely at Night, and lynch well during the Day. In Newbie Games, you can rely on your accuracy, but if you announce yourself too early or when there is no Doctor, you may become a target for elimination at night. You may not investigate yourself.
The rest of you (3, 4, or 5, for those keeping count) are
Townies:
The Mod wrote:You are a
Loyal Lover
(otherwise known as a Townie), and you've got no special powers at Night. No counseling degree, no wiretap for the phone, and no desire for drama. All you want is for the cheaters to leave; to that end, you do have a vote, which is quite powerful (though no more powerful than anyone else's vote). Help lynch cheaters during the Day, and you will win the game, along with the rest of the loyal members of the group, once they are both gone.
This is commonly known as the setup, for reasons mostly known to Norinel. I've added flavor to the roles and night scenes, but otherwise this is a completely standard game.
Even though most games start with Night, newbie games begin with Day once everyone has confirmed that they understand their role. Scum are allowed to talk by PM in the pregame, but no other "night actions" may be taken.

Rules:
  • Votes should be in bold for them to count, like this:
    Vote: Casanova
    . Unvotes should likewise be bolded (
    Unvote: Dr. Ruth
    ) so that I can spot them easier.
  • A simple majority of votes (1/2 the number of living players plus one, rounded down) will achieve a lynch and end the Day. Unvoting after that point will not save someone's life. If a deadline is imposed, the required number of votes will be lowered.
  • Nights will last up to 72 hours, but may be shorter if all night choices are in before the deadline; they will never be less than 24 hours, however.
  • Dead men tell no tales. If you get eliminated, stop talking until the game is over (a single "Bah!' post with no game information is acceptable).
  • Do not discuss this game with other players outside of this thread, unless your role PM specifically stated you could do so (as scum, and then only at night). This also includes any pre-game alliances, promises, or deals between players.
  • Do not directly quote any external communications; I have already posted the role PMs above, but this holds true for any future messages you receive as well.
  • Do not edit/delete game posts, even if you have the privileges to do so. It is unethical and can mess up the game thread. I will take care of any double-postings/horrific typos myself.
  • If you see something you don't understand,
    ASK!
    Newbie games are here for people to learn and understand; either I or one of the other players will respond to your question. If it has to do with your role, feel free to PM me directly.
  • Treat this game as a commitment; if you're going to be gone for longer than 72 hours (not counting weekends),
    let us know
    . I will replace severely inactive players, but the other players may choose to lynch you themselves first.
  • Have fun; don't be an ass;
    participate
    !

We're just in the confirmation stage, yet I'm already being bandwagoned? Kryptonite is definitely going to be watched carefully this game.

In what way is it not an OMGUS vote? Second vote on a d1 wagon isn't that extreme, imo.

And yes, it's a good thing you didn't self-hammah, drummer. :P

No, it's really not
that
extreme. Now think about what you said. It's not "that" extreme, implying that there is *some* amount of extremity to it. Therefore, my vote is not technically OMGUS, which is voting because one is being voted. Rather, I'm voting him for the slightest little suspicion that perhaps he might have been trying to get a quick lynch. In other words, it's random.

If, say, two votes were piled onto JDodge, I would probably have voted the second voter just as in this scenario. Obviously not OMGUS because JDodge is a different person. Yet I would be using the same reasoning. That shows how I could vote him and it not be OMGUS.

:mrgreen: Well, those stupid few paragraphs were incredibly fun to write. Back to reality though...
