Newbie 164 - Game Over

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Tue Nov 29, 2005 7:23 am

Post by Mr. Flay »

The sun rises on a beautiful day in Townieville, for this day begins homecoming week for the mildly successful Townie High Townsmen. The big game is only a few days off, and Townieville is filled with spirit. Flagpoles everywhere are flying Townsmen colors and a Townie High letter jacket has just become the fashion accessory of the season. Over at Townie High, the football team and the cheerleaders are hard at work, practicing every move, polishing every plan, for lo, this year, this year will be the year they finally beat their traditional rival, the Scum City Hitmen.

But all is not well in Townieville. Rumor has it that a pair of pranksters from Scum City high have infiltrated the school, and are hoping to keep the Townsmen's starting lineup off the field.

Players:
  • BigAl
  • The Shadow
  • Tyfo
  • darquiel
  • Jabroni2000
  • JechtMurray
  • elvis_knits
(role details in endgame information)

Congratulations to the Townieville High players (and Coach); you've won the game!

Five of you are from Townie High, and two are sneaky Scum High miscreants. Here's the possibilities:

2 people are
Scum:
The Mod wrote:You are a
student at Scum City High School
, along with your partner _________. You're going to help out your team by causing problems over at Townie High. Each night you may talk with your partner at Night, and send me a choice via PM of who you wish to sabotage from being able to play in the big game. During the Day, try to blend in with the rest of the students, and get someone lynched (if that someone is not your partner or yourself, that will make things much easier). Your goal is to eliminate the Townie High players so that they must forfeit the game; you win if this happens.
Either 1 person, or nobody, is a
Doctor:
The Mod wrote:You are the
coach of the Townie High Townsmen
. It's your job to keep your players healthy and in the game. Each Night, you may send me a choice via PM of who to protect; even if they come under attack by the Scum High players, they will still be able to play. You win if the Scum High infiltrators are caught, so choose wisely at Night, and try to lynch correctly during the Day.
Either 1 person, or nobody, is a
Cop:
The Mod wrote:You are the starting
Quarterback for the Townie High Townsmen.
For the last few nights, you've been up late in the locker room, studying your playbook. You think it might be possible for you to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity... Each Night, you may send a player's name to me; I will let you know if your investigation shows that they are from Scum High, or Townie High; in this game setup, you may rely on this investigation 100%. You win if the Scum High infiltrators are caught, so choose wisely at Night, and lynch well during the Day.
The rest of you (3, 4, or 5, for those keeping count) are
Townies:
The Mod wrote:You are a
Defensive Back for the Townie High Townsmen
, and you've got no special powers at Night. But, you do have a vote, which is quite powerful (though no more powerful than anyone else's vote). Help catch Scum High players during the Day, and you will win the game, along with the rest of the Town.
This is commonly known as the
C9
setup, for reasons mostly known to Norinel.
Note: Credit for the setup/role design goes to
Orbiting
, the ever-clever.

Even though most games start with Night, newbie games begin with Day once everyone has confirmed that they understand their role. Scum are allowed to talk by PM in the pregame, but no other "night actions" may be taken.

Rules:
  • Votes should be in bold for them to count, like this:
    Vote: Mr. Flay
. Unvotes should likewise be bolded (
    Unvote: MeMe
) so that I can spot them easier.
  • A simple majority of votes (1/2 the number of living players plus one, rounded down) will achieve a lynch and end the Day. Unvoting after that point will not save someone's life. If a deadline is imposed, the required number of votes will be lowered, so be careful.
  • Nights will last up to 72 hours, but may be shorter if all night choices are in before the deadline.
  • Dead men tell no tales. If you get killed, stop talking until the game is over (a single "Bah!' post with no game information is acceptable).
  • Do not discuss this game with other players outside of this thread, unless your role PM specifically stated you could do so (as scum, and then only at night).
  • Do not directly quote any PMs you receive from me; I have already posted the roles above, but this holds true for any future messages you receive from me as well.
  • Do not edit/delete game posts, even if you have the privileges to do so. It is unethical and can mess up the game thread. I will take care of any automatic double-postings by the forum itself.
  • If you see something you don't understand,
    ASK!
Newbie games are here for people to learn and understand; either I or one of the other players will respond to your question. If it has to do with your role, feel free to PM me directly.
  • Treat this game as a commitment; if you're going to be gone for longer than 48 hours (not counting weekends),
    let us know
. I will replace severely inactive players, but they may choose to lynch you themselves first.
  • Have fun; don't be an ass;
    participate
    !

You are indeed all here, and the class bell has rung.

It is now Day One; with seven of you here, four will be enough to kick someone out.
