Newbie 494: Game Over!

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Wed Oct 17, 2007 1:10 pm

Post by Erg0 »

Note: Pretty much the entire setup text is stolen from MeMe.

What a nasty little town this has become. Mafia have arrived and are systematically gunning down the nice townfolk. What should decent, smart people do?
MOVE
, of course. What are YOU gonna do? Try to figure out who the bad guys are and lynch 'em during the daylight! I'm not kidding, folks. That's the plan. Deal with it.

Alive (4)

Natural Ice
Lulubelle
Mazenzo
shkibb
Noodles

opie
HackerHuck
theopor_COD

Dead (3)

charter (Townie), Lynched Day 1
MichaelSableheart
Dracion
(Townie), Killed Night 1
Oman (Mafia), Lynched Day 2

No current deadline.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of the following four set-ups is used for this game:
a) 2 mafia, 1 cop, 1 doc, 3 townies
b) 2 mafia, 1 cop, 4 townies
c) 2 mafia, 1 doc, 4 townies
d) 2 mafia, 5 townies
Note: in view of the number of players, we will start in the day phase, although most larger games start with a night. The mafia will be allowed to communicate pre-game, though no role will submit choices until Day 1 is over.
Possible roles:
You are the mafia
. You may only talk with each other during the game's "night," not during the "day." You let me know before the night's deadline who will be your victim. You win the game when all the other players are dead. As we start the game during the day phase, no choice is necessary at this time, but feel free to communicate with your partner until Day 1 begins.
You are the cop
. Every "night" before the deadline you send me a message with a name of your choice, and I will let you know whether that player is mafia or not. You are not allowed to communicate with any of the other players outside the thread. You win the game when the mafia are dead.
You are the doctor
. Every "night" before the deadline you send me a message with a name of your choice, and that player cannot die if attacked by the mafia that night. You cannot heal yourself. You are not allowed to communicate with any of the other players outside the thread. You win the game when the mafia are dead.
You are a townie
. You are not allowed to communicate with any of the other players outside the thread. You win the game when the mafia are dead.
The Rules
:
  • Votes must be in
    bold
    . If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
  • Please be attentive and
    unvote
    , if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not
    required
    , but I’d appreciate it.
  • Executions will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. You may
    vote: no lynch
    – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
  • The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.
  • Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing.
  • Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts
  • Don’t quote any PMs from me.
  • If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me, tough! No choice will be made.
  • If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread.
    Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
  • Remember, it’s a game. It’s supposed to played. It’s supposed to be
    fun
    . Do your part.
"You were doing well until everyone died."
"I'm Bored So You Get a" Vote Count
Dracion 2 (theopor_COD, charter)
shkibb 2 (opie, Dracion)
charter 1 (Natural Ice)
theopor_COD 1 (Oman)
Not Voting 1 (shkibb)
With 7 players alive, 4 votes are required for a lynch.
I'm this close to switching my vote to Dracion just to get some movement in this game.
Unvote Vote Dracion
He needs moar votes.
No, basically, while what opie said is what mafia would normally do, its actually a very good way to get a game going.
The bandwagon is great for building up on people to a game running and often finds some mafia in the process. Of course, its not foolproof and not a method on its own.
Meerly the mention of it is enough to get some action from Charter who came off, interestingly Dracion.
Consider this situation: Dracion and Charter are a scumpair, charter sees that someone is considering putting on a third and gets defencive, allowing him to both take the vote off his partner and put it on a townie. Thats all hypothetical though.
I do agree the game could use some energy, but you're still pushing for a bandwagon lynch on someone whose only posts have been a random dice muckup? I'd really want to see more come out from him before we let him hang from it.
I would like to see some response from shkibb. He has two (joke) votes against him and I want to see a (joke) defense of his actions(?) :lol:
I changed my random vote to another random vote. I don't know enough about anyone to think they are scum this early, yet you've already suggested two people for scum? Has anyone else already figured the game out as well?
Hey, I was merely presenting a hypothetical. I'm not ready to end today at all.
This is really an overreaction. I'm not "pushing for a bandwagon lynch". I am keeping him at-2 of course. And no-one is trying to "let him hang from it". You're just taking it over the top this early.
I don't think Oman is pushing for a bandwagon lynch Natural Ice. I think he was just attempting to keep the conversation going in the same way I was doing.
I agree, no one has done anything to merit a lynch yet. I'm debating who to change my vote to again to try and liven this back up.
