I'll probably be respeccing into Fire anyway after 5.2 drops.
Thinking of leveling an alt...probably a Druid/Monk. I just want to get the most bang for my buck if I buy Heirloom gear, and Plate heirloom gear seems dumb since most classes don't get it until 40
Plate heirloom gear scales down to mail pre-40. The more you know.
Edit: If anything changes for arcane mages, the level 90 talent will be switched to invocation. Every caster DPS takes a decent hit on a movement phase (again, affliction is probably the exception). While, in theory, it will definitely hit arcane more than other specs, there simply isn't anything movement heavy enough to get to that level of damage reduction. Most movement fights are really stop and go, which will give arcane fairly negligible losses over the course of the fight.

lol like faction matters. Dipshits play both factions. Alliance racials are unbelievably better for healing classes, troll racial is unbelievably better for dps classes, tauren racials are good for tanks. Thats all that matters. (And that blood elves are awful in every way)

I found the first 3 levels to be really quick and painless, but once you get to townlong it really sloooooows doooown (because townlong is easily the worst zone of the xpac), and the last level just drags on.

I dunno, early Krasarang was pretty damn awful; is Townlong that much worse?

Dread wastes is really great, its just nice having a zone that all ties together behind a common theme/goal like that. I guess the Zhu's watch questline in kras. was meh, but once you got past that it really kicked up. I sort of struggled in kun-lai, is just felt really disjointed to me for the most part, and I wished there was more with the white tiger temple overall. That questline was really disappointing.
Valley and Dread wastes were both really great though, imo. Jade Forest was alright as a 3rd place to those 2.

LFR is a very special place. Anything can happen in LFR.
Anything.
I had a tank get 2 shot by will this week, his response was "wtf healers stopped healing". Yeah, we did stop healing in the 1.4 seconds it took for you to 100-0 because you don't know what a personal cooldown is.

-Straight 10% throughput buff with a new passive.
-Soul of the forest haste from 50% to 75%
-Rejuv mana cost decreased by 9%
-Mushrooms are (Edit: not) totally worthless anymore.

Should always keep in mind that what the top guilds do isn't always telling in the way you want it to. Its a completely different raid environment to what you'll experience, and in no way telling of a class being "dead". Nixing is probably a bad word to use there too, since most of the top 10 guilds run 2/3 full clears of everything a week with alts.
Moral of the story: A class not being used for high-tier progression isn't telling of anything beyond "someone can do something better than you". 80% of that isn't dps related. Utility generally means more than dps output for world firsts, and utility is something mages have generally never had.
Moral of the moral of the story: Your panties are in a wad. Should consider untwisting

Wee 5 manning new trash mobs to learn packs before raid this week. New mushrooms aren't awful for resto druids, not sure if they are worth the effort just yet.

Healer queuezzzz (are something I don't get anymore because I went moonkin for the team, because being main heals for the raid means you do that or something?)

ToT raid group fell apart when our raid leader left (and he was right to). Haven't been able to really get back into the game since then. ToT heroics drained me too much

I have a 90 Paladin and warrior. Always wanted a mage, but never got one over 30 so with my preorder I boosted one on a server away from the girl.
I'm not sure if this will stick, but when I go back to study next year, I might need a time sink when I'm not working 60hr weeks.

The people in my raid group didn't change any SoO gear from 90-100, so thinking 483 isn't a bad bet. Early quests are tuned for fresh 90s, so don't get too worried.

Did they make mists part of the base game? I think they did, don't quote me on that. If that is correct, you can just level normally. Avoid Townlong like the plague, etc.
I love horde. All of my raiding friends are alliance. I am alliance. I am sad.

Yeah, nagrand quests! Realistically, you can hit 610 in quest gear. If you don't have whatever the horde equivalent of a dwarven bunker yet, get one.
Heroics aren't terrible. Gear comes pretty quick. Also garrison invasions can give gear if you get gold rating. Isn't too tough with the exception of the iron horde invasion.
Our mythic strats are all ready to go and posted, ready to fight some dudes. I could keep gearing, but what's the point! Battlegrounds are more fun!

Mhork, that sounds hysterical and I want to do it now.
Apex crystals are a sort of currency this expansion, but will probably have limited use in the long run. Your garrison has a daily show up at 100 that rewards either 800 or 1000 apex crystals. An early part of the legendary quest requires 5k of these crystals.

We had a little bonus raid last night (our raid week technically starts tomorrow) just doing normal.
First boss was meh. Sounds like an incredible fight on mythic, but the chaos is pretty contained below that. Given, it was probably boring because I wasn't assigned to crowd duty. Besides that it felt a bit tank and spank.
The butcher is 3 minutes of coordination before the pull setting up stack groups. More tanking and spanking past having 3 of us making stack calls. A clever fight that will only get better with mythic mechanics (VOIDZONES YAAAAAAY).
Brackenspore took a pull to figure out. Mushrooms on the ground that help heal through aoe heavy phase. But the important part: FLAMETHROWERS. Luckily I got on firefighter duty and got to run around with the flamethrower most of the fight. Really enjoyed this one.
Our raid time ended halfway through tectus (thanks blizzard servers), but I'd think that will be the pug killer from first look. Lots of avoidable swirls on the ground constantly. Kill the boss during his aoe phase, he splits into mini bosses, repeat. All the mini bosses have the same abilities, so you get to deal with even more ground aoe everywhere.

It's not the worst until after you kill the second split. 5 adds up at once. For melee it's mostly "swirl on the ground, move before giant spike from ground"
