I would think that would tend to sharply affect your value call if you were pretty sure at least one, but not both players were scum.

That's the reason I'm reading over the game again. I don't know how to handle a claim like that, I'm trying to figure out if I should trust RC's claim or not.

Yes there are exceptional newbies who react well to being wagoned and try to sort people on it well and get townread off of it as town but they are certainly the exception rather than the rule.

I can't really argue with your experience but newbtown usually give off a confused "why me" vibe when they're getting voted, while scum tend to throw accusations in attempt to dissuade people from their lynch

I think either you or RC is scum. I have said that before. I'd rather lynch you before RC because of RC's claim.

Now please note: I haven't had a good chance to look at everyone else yet. Some people haven't been able to post much, and others haven't posted anything that really makes me want to look at them closer. As we get further into this day and I have more time that will change, and so will my reads. Once I can get a read on most everyone I'll be pushing a lynch in earnest.

1) you have a stronger scum read?
2) you think it is an inevitable lynch so you're going to jump on later?
3) are you waiting for your town reads to vote for him?
4) do you want to gain more information on other players then would gladly hammer?

gerryoat is one of the most active players so you should vote for him and ascertain if he really is scum NOW. People are labeling him scum but leaving it at that. Many agree with RC's reasoning that gerryoat's reaction to his PR-claim is categorically scum-indicative.

So you went back, read over the game, decided Gerry was probably scum, and also (my presumption) decided you didn't know enough about other players so wanted to pressure them (which makes sense to me, and I like your Transcend pressure) but you're also choosing to avoid figuring out the Grendel thing. That seems a little random, why are you trying to sort everything except Grendel?

It doesn't really make sense because how is Rauth thinking Gerry vs RC is SvT at that point in the game scummy? A few other players did and she doesn't get on anyone else for it.

It's not scummy to think that there may be scum in our 1v1. What is scummy is sitting there being yeah there's definitely a scum in there but I don't really have any coherent thoughts about who it is but hey look at that juicy 1v1 there's bound to be some scum in there let's lynch them.

AFAIR no one else was that vague. A ton of people said 'Hey I think that's TvS and that Gerry is scum here', a few people said it's TvT, but Rautherdir was the only one who was totally blase and just like YEAH THERE'S SCUM IN THAT JUICY 1v1 RIPE FOR THE MISLYNCH PICKINGS.

I'm pretty sure I made it clear that I scumread Gerry and that I was waiting for Akarin to get caught up. As for why I ignored Matt's wagon... I'm focused elsewhere currently.

I don't know about everyone else, but I personally thought Alisae was scum when Night 1 started. The only conclusion I can draw is that scum were trying to find and kill other town PRs.

I don't know how Rautherdir ruled out a TvT scenario. Why did their interaction have to have scum in it? I disagreed with Rauth's "RC being town and gerryoat being scum" early conclusion. I suspected on day 1: was Rauth crowbarring in a scum-read so that they could later vote gerry? [Note: but Rauth did not later vote gerry, and wasn't part of his quickhammer].

Rauth asks JarJar why he thought his "I have no idea what is happening" post was scummy. Vifam didn't like it either. Rauth replies:

I hated this hedging. Rauth had earlier said "we shouldn't lynch Gerry quite yet" based on posts he had read (not yet highlighted) - why support a wagon on him now? If you have scum-feelings for a player you talk to them directly, not "ignore" them and see how their wagon unfolds. Tbh, it's weird you would admit to this though.

This is the first time Rauth mentions not liking Gerry's "reaction" to RC's claim. So many people were sheeping that idea around - it felt like Rauth had adopted it too.

Claiming PR with one vote on you is the dumbest thing I may have seen on this site.

When I first read these, I ruled out vanilla town because they would care a lot more about the roleclaim. This left Gerry being scum in my mind. In addition, mafia would also care about the early roleclaim; and I thought the fact that he commented on the roleclaim afterwards may have been because a scumbuddy told him to push RC on that in scumchat. Even so, I didn't commit to my vote because it felt like I was missing something, that it still didn't make sense.

I failed to take something in consideration:

the fact that gerry could be a PR that could (with the assumption that RC was claiming cop) counterclaim.

The response makes sense in that light. It wasn't until later that RC claimed 'not cop, but with cop in title'. Gerry in these posts was probably signalling to town that he didn't believe RC's claim.

I made a mistake and didn't catch it until after Gerry got hammered. I did not expect day 1 to end so quickly, and planned to do much more analysis and pushing that day.

Jailing the cop makes NO sense as town. Sure if you are town you could prevent a kill, but you also guarantee the cop doesn't get a result. Preventing one kill doesn't gain us another night. You'd have to be successful twice at preventing kills

But if you truly to jail scum you have a chance to prevent the kill AND give the cop a chance to get an important result.

There are probably two mafia, and the jailkeeper can only choose one player for his action. He wouldn't know who was going to be doing the shot. The goal for the jailkeeper is to stop the kill. It isn't as important for me to get an investigation as it is to prevent a night kill.

I actually did something like this in my previous game, where I figured out a largely scum-read person was town through meta, but voted and pushed a wagon on him anyways to try and bait scum onto him. It failed horribly, sort of.

There were an absolute crapton of Town fakeclaim gambits this game. I'm looking at you, Rautherdir and RC.

I don't find them to be helpful or pro-Town. They

repeatedly

almost screwed Town over, to the point where it was sheer dumb luck that they didn't. Rautherdir claimed roleblock at the start of D3, after MBG

just happened

to jailkeep him the night before. If he'd claimed any kind of investigation at all, it would have (and should have) gotten him MLed. He also faked an innocent on RC (I think) which could have been disastrous if it had been wrong and believed.

I faked an innocent on RC because I recognized his play as something I would do as town, mostly because what RC did day 1 was a plan I had thought about after my first game, in which I was a 1-shot BP. If JJD hadn't flipped town I would have retracted immediately day 3 and pushed a lynch on RC. I knew the moment I survived that night that I was almost certainly roleblocked. As for why I didn't retract... I was worried about Lynch All Liars. Honestly now that I think about it, Keyser and RC probably would have kept the rest of town from lynching me if I had retracted.

But anyways, enough blatant excuses, Good Game everyone!
