Player Awards
BODY OF WORK AWARDS
Best Mafia Catcher: Also known as the Paragon of Mafia Hunters, this award is given to the single town player who, across all of their games for the year, exhibited the best ability for nailing those dirty scumbags and bringing the bad guys to justice while playing as a pro-town role.
Rising Star: This award is given to the player that is a rising star in the game of mafia, showing great promise to join the elite echelon of mafia players. This award replaces both the Best Newbie award and Most Improved Player awards, and judges may consider elements of both those previous awards in deciding this award.
Excellent Moderation: Also known as the “The Modfather” Award. This award is given to the moderator who, over the course of the past year, exemplifies the best qualities of a moderator in the operation of the game, including but not limited to quality and frequency of vote counts, organization of the game, dealing with issues that arise, keeping players active, and so forth. Judges may consider how challenging the games a moderator ran were, but they shall not penalize a moderator for only running more basic games. A mod must run at least 3 games to completion in the calendar year to be considered for this award.
SINGLE GAME - PLAYER
Most Cunning Manipulator: Also known as the “Don Corleone” Award. Awarded to the player who has the strongest single game performance as mafia. In rare cases, where a player feels an entire scumteam gelled to create a strong cohesive scum performance, multiple members of a team may be nominated.
Best Performance Third Party: Also known as the “Hannibal Lecter” Award. Awarded to the player or players that performed the most impressively in winning their game as a third party.
Most Memorable Event: Also known as the “Kodak Moment” Award. Awarded to the player or players who were involved in the most memorable event in a game of mafia. Fake claims, funny claims, awesome exchanges, etc. may all be considered for this award
SINGLE GAME - MODERATOR
Best Setup: Also known as the “Rube Goldberg” Award. Given to the moderator who designed the best setup. Judges may consider the roles involved in a game, how those roles interacted, how balanced a setup was, whether it furthered any particular theme, how the setup interacts with a mechanic, or any other factors the judges deem relevant. This award is distinct, however, from the “Best Mechanic” award in that it does not consider how good or bad any change to the basic way a Mafia game is played.
Best Flavor Text: Also known as the “Paperback Writer” Award. Given to the moderator who wrote the most compelling flavor text. Judges should consider the flavor text of all parts of the game, including Role PMs and Day/Night scenes. Where appropriate, Judges may consider how well the flavor works with the announced theme.
Best Mechanic/Mutation: Also known as the "Mad Scientist” Award. Given to the moderator who figured out the most compelling way to change the basic mechanics of the game of mafia, and/or created the most compelling new role or adaptation to increase player enjoyment. Judges shall consider both the basic idea behind the game as well as how well it was executed, and the uniqueness and quality of the role/adaptation.
SITE AWARDS
Game of the Year: Also known as the “Player’s Choice” Award. This award is given to the moderator of a game. It is given in recognition of the overall excellence of a game. The Game of the Year award is a "catch all" award for the best overall game throughout the entire year, considering all aspects of the game from moderator quality, to the excellent design and composition of the game, to the performance and cohesion of the playerlist. A Game of the Year is meant to be the game that we can all point to later and say "This game was the best game the site could offer that year in terms of Design, Playerlist, and moderating capability." This is a PUBLIC VOTE.
Behind the Scenes: Also known as the “Name Should Be In Orange.” This award is given by mith/Thesp/zoraster to the community member or members who have best helped in the operation of the site.
Outstanding Mish Mash Game&Outstanding Social Game&Outstanding Mish Mash User: Awarded by the Mish Mash Janitor and their assembled panel of judges.[/size]

NominatingAndrius for Memorable Moment
In the waning days of Curse of Strahd, Andrius, known as the Baker, did embark upon a dramatic retelling of the events and happenings leading up to the conclusion of the heroes' quest. With artful prose and whimsical portraiture did this noble Paladin recount tales of derring-do and evil treachery, of encounters with dastardly vampires and vicious walking huts, of hard-won friendships between embattled servants of light and truth. As the Baker-Paladin's story wound on, and he did multiclass to Bard, the assembled heroes gained heart, took up arms, and rallied to bring an end to the scourge of Strahd! Thus was the realm of Ravenloft saved, and freed from the dominion of vampires and their foul ilk. Evil ended, not with a bang, nor a whimper, but with song.

Spoiler: A Dramatic Retelling, Quoted
I will, of course, also be submitting the form properly, but everyone deserves to be exposed to this awesomeness."Cry havoc, and let slip the wombat of war!"

FWIW, I would recommend that at least one of these be returned, or possibly best IC for newbies.

While not needed, a second submission of the same nomination offers support for that candidate for the judges--a second opinion which elaborates on the first, gives a different perspective, and lets the judges know it wasn't just one person who thought this; at least another also supported the idea. So while not needed...if you actually believe in your nomination, if you actually want them to win, then seconding is a Very Good Idea.-

In post 11, Andrius wrote:So question.
If nominations are through that form, do SECONDs even matter anymore? Are they needed?
As a judge, multiple nominations are points in favor of a nominee for me. I'd like to see more nominations overall. If 2 or 3 nominations per nominee were the norm instead of 1, I think that would make judging a lot easier for some of the judges. (that also means giving very specific reasons to back your nomination and not just saying 'they deserved it obviously')In post 13, mastina wrote:While not needed, a second submission of the same nomination offers support for that candidate for the judges--a second opinion which elaborates on the first, gives a different perspective, and lets the judges know it wasn't just one person who thought this; at least another also supported the idea. yes it makes sense to just do nominations on an individual basis, if you felt a way about something that deserves a nom, you nominate
if others feel the same, they nominate - it could lead towards 5 people frmo the same game nominating the mod for the same award or something, but, that is fine, as long as it's not coordinated "hey let's do this so this mod wins", it's a genuine account of what people think and gives the judges a better feel for what went on and how to judge
I know that I saw people saying "oh I'm going to nominate ____ for ____" and others go "oh okay good, I was going to", impying they no longer are going to, but that doesn't make sense, and so, yeah, just do it if you think it deserves it regardless of if you know it's getting other nominations - use your own words and the judges will really get a better sense of everythingbalance among all things-

MagnaofIllusion for Most Cunning Manipulator
The Thing Mafia
As the scum member that survived the second longest, I worked with MoI over a period of about 3 months to clinch the victory from an extremely difficult start. Two of our members were lynched on Days 1 and 2, and from there me, Andrius, and Magna were all quite doubtful of a victory.
However, we managed to coordinate tight plays and moves as a team, even with our hands pretty much tied in terms of night play (which had been observed as questionable night kill decisions), we had almost a stranglehold on the day play from beginning to end. Especially Magna, who ENTIRELY escaped suspicion starting from Day 1. It was him that survived to the end without a single vote being placed on him for the entirety of the game.
Although to say that the busses and plays coordinated by the rest of the team did not play a factor in our ultimate victory would be a disservice to the rest of the team, it was still Magna that had the execution and planning down. He was integral in the moves we made throughout the game, and his executed bussing was in such a way that he escaped suspicious interaction tells entirely.
In my opinion, it's his dedication, consistent commitment, and overall fantastic play that deserve the scummy nom here.did another ms user do something lovely? recognize their achievements here!

MagnaofIllusion for Most Cunning Manipulator
The Thing Mafia
Because he won the game for the THINGS without a single vote cast on him by town. Furthermore, each of the three remaining town-aligned players, during the last night of the game, still thought he was town from their posting in Room PTs that night.
And he was behind every major decision in the Scum PT. We agreed to pick the same number in the draft, we agreed to bus me about mid-game, he orchestrated the little plays and gave input for night actions and helped Ranmaru and EP out when they needed a push. He got me to make the ballsy play and kill Tammy. He got me to not fear the connections.
When the town gets over their saltiness they'll come and nominate him too."This is the true face of a man who plays paladin."-
