It probably is? Idk man, we are new to board games, have never played it, and i knew it was fairly popular, so w/e and I won't be playing it that often because it's 3-6 players and as long as it's fun 3 times, it'll be worth the price of admission.
Jaipur is real good tho.
Do you have any suggestions for 2 players(probably me and my girlfriend)?Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

I only know Agricola and Patchwork from this list. Agricola is somewhat complex, but on top of that it's a bit intimidating. Twilight-struggle-level intimidating really. In post 2505, PJ. wrote:She's def not really a chess girl, so Twilight Struggle and Hive are probably out. How do you feel about patchwork, jambo, agricola, and pandemic Legacy?
Patchwork seems brilliant to me. It looks like a kids game, but it isn't quite that. Behind simple rules (2 min of explanations and we could play our first game) and a playful board there's quite a bit of choice hidden. Not like chess, but you try to find a optimal balance between costs and results.Surrender, imagine and of course wear something nice.-

Patchwork is amazing. A+
Agricola is pretty complex and intimidating to learn. But it's a classic for a reason.
Pandemic Legacy is really more fun with more people because it's a living game. You get to tear up cards and mark on the board and put stickers on characters, etc. Each playthrough is different. I can imagine it being fun for two, but then you'd each control two characters during the game and that's kinda meh.
Regular Pandemic is probably where you'd want to start. Are you wanting co-op or competitive games?green shirt thursdays-

If you like Agricola, Le Havre's from the same designer and it's slightly less complex. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.-

What themes does she like in other media? Like TV Shows, movies, books, etc.? Does she like anime? If so, which ones? What's she interested in?In post 2503, PJ. wrote:It probably is? She likes crafts(quilting and crocheting and shit), love novels, grey's anatomy, minecraft, she liked nino kuni so probably digs ghibli things. And she likes pro wrestling.
She read a little blurb on agricola and liked it but idk if she knows how complicated it is.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

I think Patchwork is an absolutely great game then. Literally right up her alley. In post 2511, PJ. wrote:She likes crafts(quilting and crocheting and shit), love novels, grey's anatomy, minecraft, she liked nino kuni so probably digs ghibli things. And she likes pro wrestling.

I'd recommend Paperback, which is a deckbuilding word game, you play out your hand using words. Definitely something where someone with a broad vocabulary could beat someone more experienced in gaming.
Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective is pretty much a must for anyone who likes Sherlock Novels, it's an excellent game. Just completely the experience of being in a Sherlock Novel. Download BGG's errata for case 3, the translation from the French was a complete failure on that one, but the rest is great (there's 10 cases, so that's pretty minor).
I think anyone who likes Minecraft can grok Agricola, it's just adding VP to more-or-less Minecraft logic. Although maybe more Caverna? I like Caverna so much less though. Dungeon Pets could be excellent, it's got a very builderesque atmosphere, and is pretty cute, although its a definite step up in difficulty from Agricola.ShowThat which is done out of love always takes place beyond good and evil

There's a 2-player version of Agricola, All Creatures Big and Small, that is both less complex and less punishing than the original (you might not necessarily get all the types of animals in your yard, but you'll definitely build a nice little farm filled with good-looking animeeples). In post 2511, PJ. wrote:She read a little blurb on agricola and liked it but idk if she knows how complicated it is.

If you like rummy you could try Mystery Rummy:Jack the ripper. Played it a bunch and it's fun. Jaipur js excellent though, also patch work is a good suggestion. In post 2520, PJ. wrote:In post 2518, Nexus wrote:Jaipur is probably my favourite 2p game that I own. Pandemic Legacy is excellent and works fine with two (you can do one character each or two if you're finding it easier ). However it's probably worth finding out if you like coop games first so maybe pick up somethung cheap like forbidden island or forbidden desert?are you thinking of me when you're with somebody else?-
