Yeah, Zyra is pretty disgusting. Her lane presence is borderline broken and she becomes a very strong AP carry from a support's budget, but it's balanced by the fact that she pops like a balloon and falls off hard if you lose your lane.
Ganks can ruin her day too, thanks to the "pop like a balloon" thing.-

I disagree. I think the sheer amount of CC makes her really useful into lategame even if she's behind. In post 1579, Ankamius wrote:Yeah, Zyra is pretty disgusting. Zyra's primary purpose is zone control, and this zone control is there even if she is behind. Her ult is still an aoe .75 second knockup in a huge radius regardless of how much damage it does. Her slowing plants slow the same regardless of how much ap she has. Her damage output gets put behind a bit, but even that is not a huge difference in functionality for zyra's basic workings. She is not an assassin.
A behind zyra dies more easily, making it easy to snowball off of killing her. An ahead zyra kills you. An even zyra punishes your mistakes by enabling her team to destroy your team by virtue of significant aoe cc and vision and zone control.don't you feel silly now?-

Zyra is one of those supports that builds mostly damage and turns into a second AP Carry. Her base utility is weaker than every other support (excluding other AP-carry style supports like Brand/Vel'koz/Xerath) and she just becomes significantly less threatening if the enemy team doesn't have to worry about the amount of damage she's dealing.-

Laughable but not negligible. I never build Zyra as a mostly damage AP carry. I build her as a tanky zone control initiator or peeler. The closest I get to damage is maybe Liandry's and sometime zhonyas. Often though it's GP5, Sightstone, Boots, Locket, Rylais, GA (I swapped that out for a zz'rot one game where we just couldn't break towers and it was a good plan).
I dunno. It's working. It's unfortunate that good oral sex excuses bad chemistry. - Korts-

I usually build it vs teams of 3 or more tanks/health stackers. In post 1588, RayFrost wrote:To be honest, liandrys is overrated and often a waste of gold compared to other items given that it relies on the opponents building health to be relevant. It's unfortunate that good oral sex excuses bad chemistry. - Korts-

The "LoL demographic" (meaning whiners and trolls on reddit and the LoL forums) are exactly the demographic for which nothing will ever be good (or, in this case, cheap) enough. The voices you hear complaining about the price are the same voices who constantly want more sales, more free IP, etc. It is very competitively priced for games of similar content.
As far as "are board games dead," check out the baord game thread on this forum. They're only "dead" to people who are addicted to electronic screens. A vast majority of my friends play board games, D&D, and the like. Unless you think you'll have no friends with which to play, that shouldn't even be an issue.-

The point is, judging value/price off of a demographic that consistently complains about content never being cheap enough is not worth.-

re: boardgame. Themed games like that are often made because the creator knows there's a market. Usually these games are not the greatest, and some of the things I've seen here make me similarly worried. Now there are exceptions to this, there is the odd game that manages to strike the balance between being thematic and not detract from gameplay by doing so, but I can't think of one right now that hasn't been made by a producer of boardgames. You sound like someone who does not have too much experience with boardgames, then for sure I'd wait and see what other people think of it. If you feel like you need more boardgames in your life right now, go with a known quantity, the 2000's has produced a sizeable amount of really good boardgames, for all kinds of people.Surrender, imagine and of course wear something nice.-

It seems expensive but it also seems to have a lot of figurines and like..The only game that I know with a figurines is Warhammer and I'm pretty sure that 75 dollars doesn't get you anything in warhammer(just looked, the absolute cheapest you can get a 2 player set for Warhammer is 110 dollars and that's only if you go with dark vengeance which was a purposefully budget set other wise you're looking at over 250 easy). As another price comparison, pandemic legacy goes for 50 dollars and ticket to ride goes for almost 40. So 75 for big ass figurines seems fine.
Edit: And honestly, stuff like munchkin is gonna run you a third the price(just to get started) and basically be just a deck of cards. And there are a TON of games like munchkin that are totally good, cheap entry, and will keep you and your group busy.
And basically to piggy back what Myko is saying, If you don't have IRL friends(or interest in finding a irl board game group), then yes, board games are dead. But if you have a group that plays games, and you're looking for something new, then it might be for you. But there are a TON of board games. Like, a ridiculously huge selection of board games. So waiting could be better because it's better than spending 75 on something that isn't battle tested.Last edited by PJ. on Tue Sep 20, 2016 2:09 am, edited 1 time in total.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

anyone saying board games are dead is objectively wrongThere's nothing that says that a fake can't beat the real thing.
You must not imagine that for beings like you and us there can be laughter. The low men laugh, and we envy them. But for us, the higher ones, there is no laughter, only an unending vigil, purely serious, stretching on into the night.-

Well, yes and no, right? I don't have IRL friends. Board games are dead for me. No online matchmaking for settlers of catan, ya know?Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.
