UA = The Underachievers. Indigoism mixtape and Evermore: The Art of Duality album. Go now.

Pro Era was Steez's idea. He was just never credited or marketed because Cinematic thought Joey was more suitable to be commercial. He never got the recognition he deserved and it may have built up.

Eh, Indigoism's kinda iconic for me. I can see why a lot of people don't get into FBZ/UA etc though

On what basis do you say Steez ghostwrote for Joey? Like actual credible stuff.

It was just something I heard a couple weeks after Steez' death, that I didn't necessarily believe at the time. But Steez dying coincided with a sharp decline in skill for Joey Bad and everyone in pro era really, so I started to buy in. I don't know where the person who told me got their source.

Was probably bullshit.

It's not as if Joey was talentless or is talentless now. Pretty sure 1999 was all him, and he should be credited for it.

I would say Steez's death would have a correlation with Pro Era's decline. Even if it was never recognized, that was practically his movement. We'd probably be seeing a different Pro Era today, shit a different world if Steez were still alive and he was the one who got signed instead.

I believe he believed he'd come back in 2047.

12/22/13 = 47

I actually believe it is a magic number. Not really magic in any tangible sense, but it shows up in some pretty weird places in my life and I tend to attach meaning to it.

Illmatic for sure.

I used to have a tradition of listening to it on my birthday straight

but it's like a half hour filled with classics so you can still listen to it in full whenever basically

so much nostalgia.

It's so much more powerful when you realize Nas wrote it at 17.

What's her competition? It's like when USA wins gold in women's basketball, is it an accomplishment there is only 1 serious contender from the outset?

I agree with this order but I'd add that 'It Was Written' is above average / it's up there with 'Life is Good'.
In particular the singles "If I Ruled the World" (One of Nas's most acclaimed singles) & "The Message" (classic hip hop single) are undoubtedly above mediocre.
'Distant Relatives' - collaborative album by Nas & Damian Marley deserves a shout-out too.
Dmitry Davidoff may have created the game of mafia but he never mastered it. As a mafia enthusiast/aficionado; I'm here to master the game.

The chemistry between Nas & Damian Marley was brilliant which was proven prior to the collaborative album, with the single "Road to Zion".
Damien’s style encouraged Nas to get more Afrocentric and spiritual, something you rarely see out of Nas, but he did so in a really beautiful and touching way.
'Distant Relatives' is probably one of my favourite genre-crossing album ever. The fusing musical elements of hip hop and reggae there is just spectacular.

Nicki was impressive on the track 'Roman's Revenge' especially considering she was collaborating with Eminem on it.

That's not what the conversation was about. It was about her being the queen of hip hop, and my response is "who cares about a 1 horse race?"
