For those of you less familiar to this part of the site and more acquainted with Mafia, this game should be a welcome sight for you. While games that essentially share the same mechanics as Mafia are disallowed from taking place in Mish Mash, The Resistance is a similar concept in terms of an informed minority trying to take down and uninformed majority, but in terms of gameplay they play out very differently.

GAME RULES

This is a game for 5-10 players, depending on the amount of players 2-4 of them will be spies. At the beginning of the game each player receives a PM stating their role. Spies know who the other spies are, but aren't allowed to further communicate with each other.

Both sides have three bases, the first team to destroy the three opposing bases wins. Each round one player is designated the leader, he or she will choose who will go on that turn's mission to destroy a base (in thread, bold names of chosen players), the amount of team members varies throughout the game. After that each player will secretly vote on whether to accept that team or not by sending me a PM. When everyone has voted votes are publicly revealed, if a majority approves the team they will go on the mission, otherwise the next player becomes the leader and chooses a new team. If 5 rejections happen on a mission, the base will go to the spies. If 15 rejections in grand total happen, the game will cease and the spies will win, regardless of how many rejections in a row there are on the current base.

When a team goes on a mission each team member sends a PM with 'success' or 'failure'. If all of the PMs are successes the mission will succeed, if there is one or more failure the mission fails. An exception is the 4th mission with 7 or more players, that one requires 2 failures to fail. A successful mission destroys one of the Spy bases, failure means the counter-attack destroys one of the Resistance bases.

In the event, should there be one, that it becomes impossible for a team to lose the game, the game will immediately be called. (An example included is if, on the 5th attempt at a mission, a Spy is leader, and the spies already have 2 bases, the game would end there)

DEADLINE

Discussion lasts until the leader chooses a team or a maximum of

15 minutes

, after this the proposed team will be the leader and the players immediately next to him.
After teams are chosen you have

5 minutes

to send a vote; not sending a vote means you vote in favour of the team.
After you have been chosen for a team you have

5 minutes

to send a success/failure; not sending means you vote to succeed.

SETUP

Four games of The Resistance will be played, each nine players. Starting tomorrow, one game will take place marathon-style at times shown below, meaning you must be around for a few hours for the game you sign up for. Both players in a pair cannot take part in the same game. Each game will take place in a public topic.

There is no private communication allowed with players who are not your partner from this point onward until the end of the challenge. Any players found in violation of this rule will automatically enter the elimination round.

Feel free to strategize with your partner as much as you like, however.

The number of spies/resistance members in each game as well as the number of players who will take part in each mission is shown below.

SCORING

All teams that have both of their players win their respective games are automatically safe from entering elimination. The tiebreakers, in order, are the lowest number of missions lost collectively by a team, the number of missions both players in a team collectively took part in, and the number of proposed missions both players in a team were a part of. The team that ultimately wins will be the team captains for the next challenge.

The two pairs that have the most players lose their respective games will be the losing teams. If more than two teams have both of their players lose, the winning pair will choose who the ultimate two losing teams will be. Both of the bottom two pairs will pick one pair that isn't safe to face in elimination.

Don't even think about throwing a game to make someone who don't like lose either, because playing against your win condition will result in automatic disqualification.

Over the next 24 hours, signups for slots in each game will be open. You are not allowed to conspire to join certain games because certain people are playing in them. The only purpose of these signups is for everyone to join a game that works at a convenient time for them. If anyone has concerns regarding the planned times, please voice them within the next 24 hours so game times can be rearranged, or temporary replacements can be found.

I'd say it's the same game at its core and is probably worth reading. Since you're in Game 4, you'll be able to see the 3 other games take place before yours happens.

tbh i am thinking you should coordinate East Coast, West Coast, and Europe/rest of world separately
or maybe lengthen the hours of involvement to 5 or 6, and double the time each deadline in the game has

just thoughts/suggestions, may not be necessary, but there they are in case!

Honestly, there's just no way for everyone to be completely satisfied, and we want to keep the games as short as possible so that people can be around for all of it.

However, the tiebreaker to determine the winning team is by looking at the number of missions lost. Since Pair E lost 4 missions and the rest lost two, they are out of the running.

The next tiebreaker is collective missions the team members took part in. This means that pickemgenius and Haschel Cedricson are team captains for the next challenge!
