You can pick even exact countries. There's a lot.

Hmm. I tried to play the first Xcom but the game was too hard for me . I think 2/4 of my squad got wiped on like the third mission. If I remember correctly Slovakia isn't a playable country in the game so i'd be content with any European nation really. Perhaps Germany or Russia if you have to choose.
