Just check out the links, I can't explain/summarize things very well. Just know it has some neat mechanics, LOOKS great- and has some really awesome characters that are references to various characters in pop culture.

Retail price is $89
When the pledging was still happening, we did over that amount to get some bonus stuff
Like AWESOME GLOW IN THE DARK DICE and other neat things
I'm only sad that it wont get here until after Scummer of Love. :<

Sudo, have you and your sister played that alien game at all since we last saw you?
I really think next time we play, we should make a few inhouse rules.
Such as "no winning the game with hugs"

I prefer cities and knights to just regular ol' Catan
I also always try to have a variety of numbers as well as different squares for income... those 6's and 8's just don't always come
AND FUCK YOU 7
FUCK YOU

It really sounds like a good game. I was interested in it ever since I saw the Shut up and Sit down guys do a review on it. (Possibly the best board game reviewers I've ever seen btw)
A LOT Of co-op games suffer from "everyone do what that ONE GUY says and we all win, no making your own decisions because they might not be the most efficient, wow we won that was easy, YAY!" syndrome.
Pandemic is a huge offender, and IMO is one of the worst co op games out there.

It could be group related, true. But...it's not that anyone HATES "the bossy one" it just doesn't feel as fun for all of your actions and choices to be constantly influenced by other people, be it a sole dictator or everyone in the group.
That is why in my opinion, co-op dexterity games are the best, as no one can really contribute to your logic because it is on your own personal skill whether you succeed or not and therefore it feels like a real challenge.

Except the importance of how great dominion is!
Also has anyone been lucky enough to get their hands on Caverna? That thing is so elusive.
I've played Suburbia, Le Havre and Nations and I can't figure out which of those 3 are my favorites but if I had Caverna it might end up being the best of the civilization/city builders.

That's what you might think at first glance before actually playing it, but everything happens in a way that it's not really any trouble at all. I have a horrid memory and am terrible of keeping track of things in games but Suburbia has never given me these problems.

In post 1048, xRECKONERx wrote:Question: if I don't own and have never played Agricola, should I just go straight for Caverna? Because people basically seem to say "Caverna is good but it's just more Agricola", but if I don't own and haven't played either, which should I go for?
It basically puts this thing in a question of {Agricola v Caverna} or Archipelago or Suburbia or Tzolk'in+Expansion.
We just found about $60 in Amazon giftcards so if we did pick up Tzolk'in we'd want to grab the expansion as well.
I don't own Caverna because I can't find it anywhere but I think the general consensus with most who own it (That I've heard from reviewers and such) is that it's better than Agricola.
However if you can actually acquire it then you should go for it because it's in really high demand and I've never heard anything bad said about it.

In my experience, Cosmic Encounter is incredibly boring and unfun with more than 2 people. Every single game I've ever played has ended in multiple people hugging and sharing victory.
Oh, I was one of those people hugging to victory, but I mean, why try to be the single person out on top when you can win more easily by making sure everyone is on your side?
Butttt the game as a concept is not bad and I love the diversity of aliens.

Got
Myth
(Kickstarter game, not officially released yet)
Haven't had this much fun with a board game in forever. Definitely in my top 5 so far just from completing one story mission.

Got Dead of Winter and Played it with my boyfriend and maaaaaaaan it's so fun! I can't wait for the real non-2-player challenge in the future!
The zombie concept didn't really feel as in your face and it was more of an afterthought. This game even seems to have some mafia elements and I can see it getting to be a very socially interactive game with more and more players.
is really spectacular - I am super-interested in playing this game.
That was an episode with Grant Imahara.
It's funny that in that episode he mentioned that he liked playing Mafia. Most board gamers in general know the game as "werewolf" or other variants that are in boardgame form.
Mafia is oddly specific.
What if he is secretly a member of this site, playing mafia games under a psudeonym?
hey it's not completely unlikely don't look at me like I'm a conspiracy theorist

Well I wasn't saying that it would be impossible to hear of the game by that name before this website existed. However, this is pretty much the biggest forum dedicated to it and it's rare to find anyone who knows of it who has never been here or to epicmafia.
Also people are getting more into boardgames and more games are being made, which is pretty cool. I heard someone in a video recently say that we are in a "golden age of board games" which I think might be true.

"We Didn't Playtest This at All" and any of it's expansions
Some of the flavorful Fluxx's
Potentially "Epic Spell Wars" - played this drunk a couple times don't think it got finished but was fun regardless
Lost Legacy

Here is a discussion about this on BoardGameGeek for anyone interested in more people who have used the program(s) opinions: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/116055 ... eam/page/1
BBGers seem for the most part happy with TTS. Also a good thing to note is that you can download a demo of TTS for free on steam, it's the same but without the multi-player. And the table flipping can be turned off (thank goodness)

Kingdom Death is AMAZING and fucking difficult as hell. I feel it's unparalleled when it comes to co-op board games.
Waited years for it since the kickstarter and it was completely worth it. Sad that non-backers are going to struggle to ever get to play it though, since it's pretty hard to get your hands on now and the price point is pretty heavy in comparison to if you backed it. :/
I really hope the people on SU&SD will get a chance to play it or give their thoughts on it.
. Both excellent games we've all played before and like a bunch, and figured it was time to pick up our own copy.
Also got one of those boxes of d6's for Liar's Dice and the like.
Once you get your fill of Love Letter, try some of the Lost Legacies (Same kind of game, same dev). My personal fav (And most MAFIA like) is from the Third Chronicle, "Sacred Grail" ^^
