It's a third party challenge modpack on the FTB launcher. The story is that the world was destroyed and all that remains is this barren wasteland. no plants, no animals, just a bunch of dried up sand and dead trees. it includes the HQM (quest book) and you have to regrow things using other means. it's interesting.
here's the entry on the FTB wiki and
here's episode 1 of direwolf20's Regrowth Let's Play series with Soaryn]. The video is a great example of the co-op "mode" that's possible.
lots of fun.

just a warning - there is no in-game mini map and it's supposed to be that way, so i'd encourage you NOT to add a client-side minimap. there are quests involving creating a map. the two things i did add to it were optifine and moustweaks.

The hungry node to the NNE of ETL's place is not your friend.
I found that by swimming along the coast looking for oysters.
What's the black structure that spouts fire at the base if you get near?

That first pic is a flame wither spawner. Dig direct down in the center of it, for a couple of blocks.there's a chamber with the thing in there, it drops a flamestar, not sure what its for. Doesn't even show up in nei. M and I found one while playing regrowth awhile ago and never figured it out. Looks cool in a frame tho.

We did...? I don't remember it. Thought it was from an update.
P.S. It's also, no doubt, intended as a source of Obsidian Totems.
