You live in a really small town. There are 2 really evil mafia who want to kill you. There is also a cult.... Cult's aren't all that bad, right? :).

You all enjoy watching the Indy 500 on TV. 500. Like the title. ;).

The Rules


1) I am infallible.
2) If I'm wrong, as I often am, let me know very gently. The best way to communicate with me is via PM.
3) Majority = lynch, 50% = no lynch.
4) No using stupid tactics that aren't allowed to try and gain an unfair advantage. Such tactics include: talking out of thread unless you are expressly permitted to do so; quoting anything I say to you in the thread; using forum code to hide posts or impersonate the mod (stay away from the color blue and the
tag); editing your posts; other things that common sense should tell you are against the spirit of the game. If you think something might violate rule 4, ask me before doing it. There is no end to the list of things that might violate rule 4; I'm not going to try and list them all -- but use common sense, and play mafia, not rule mongering.
5) Have fun & respect each other (and me) :).

The Setup


This game is an almost open setup. There are exactly three different factions: a 1 person (to start) Cult, a 2 person Mafia (possibly with mafia power role(s)), and a Town with exactly 2, 3, or 4 power roles.

Cult PMs:
Cult Leader role PM wrote:You are the Cult Leader! Each night, you can send me a name of someone you wish to attempt to recruit in the cult, and at daybreak I will notify you if your attempt to recruit them is successful. You can recruit "vanilla" townies only -- mafia and pro-town power roles are not recruitable into the cult. You win if the cult is the last remaining faction in the game. You may communicate with your recruits at night, and the cult may communicate with new recruits for 3 days as soon as I let you know they are recruited.
Cult Recruit role PM wrote:You have been recruited into the cult led by XXXX. Current members of the cult are: XXXX. You no longer can win with the town -- You win if the cult is the last remaining faction in the game. You may communicate with your fellow cultists at night, and the cult may communicate with new recruits for 3 days as soon as I let you know they are recruited.

Nights:
Night communication will probably be more important in this game than in some others. The game will start with day, but all nights will last 72 full hours to allow any factions that can communicate to communicate. Any choices not in to me by that deadline will either be randomized or counted as a no-choice, at my discretion.

Q&A
Q: Would a cult recruit inherit the cult leader's power upon death?
A: No

Q: In a 1-1 scenario with a cultist and a townie, would the cultist win?
A: Yes

All players have confirmed! Day one is almost upon us!

First, I'd like to thank Mr Stoofer for reviewing the setup, MeMe for running the queue, and all of you for playing! Enjoy!

Then -- three or so notes:
1) If a new cult recruit is NKed the night of their recruitment, they will show up town and win with town. This seems only fair, and I don't want people to be trying to get reads on someone who was never a cultist during the day.
2) I really like deadlines. I think they are pro-town, btw. I have decided not to do static deadlines in this game, but if I announce a deadline at around page 5, don't be surprised.
3) If you ever need my attention, PM me. I am very liable to miss things if not.
4) I will prod and replace lurkers somewhat aggressively.

I thought about doing a lot of flavor for this end scene. Maybe win a scummy or something.

But then I asked myself. Why Bother? :twisted:

pwayne66 and vollkan, Mafia Goons both, win!

TH and tyhess, vanilla townies, lose.

MoS, lone cult recruit, loses.



I must say the mafia's play in this game was excellent. Vollkan PM'd me that they figured Oman was the vig Night Two, and Night One that they thought CKD was a good kill since no one was suspicious of him. Poor CKD, played the roll too well.

I was a little hesitant to let MoS replace back in because the mafia targeted him to silence him, but I think that as a mod policy, it is better to allow players with no information to replace back in.

I must say I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see the cult play any meaningful part of the game, but it was a good game of mafia nonetheless.

The mafia killed CKD, MoS, Oman
Oman killed White, tyhess.

Another game ends a day early because of an ineffective Vigilante :?.

Thanks for helping down the stretch Iammars.

Thanks for playing guys, sticking with it, and in some cases replacing back in to help the game out. I hope you enjoyed it!
