Rishi wrote: So, The Fonz, you've been quiet through this discussion. What do you think?
Well, no ______ sherlock. It happened overnight. :P

A few thoughts- firstly, being aggressive is not a scum tell, and never has been. Also, can't see how Guardian's posts have been 'defensive' at all.

I really don't like Wario thus far. Stating as fact that Rishi's '3/7 is not 50/50' was a reading error doesn't sit well.
Al wrote:Besides, being really agressive can be you covering for the fact that you're scum yourself.
Don't like this one bit. How exactly does it 'cover up' for that fact? Being aggressive draws attention to yourself. I don't exactly consider it a town tell (because most players are either aggressive or not depending on playstyle, regardless of alignment) but it does make for better games imho.

Why not?
Because he couldn't know for a fact what another player's motivation/ thought process is. This means that he is jumping to conclusions at best.

I don't think it was unreasonable to think it was a reading error, no. (Though, incidentally, I don't think it's necessarily right to give someone a free pass for attacking someone based on not reading their posts right, either). There's a difference between 'think' and 'state as fact' though.

On AlSleet- yes. But the subject of his #32 has been pretty well covered, I think.

Guardian wrote:And you think SirWario was scummy despite Rishi's claiming that it was in fact a reading error?
Well, yes. Since the thing I have a problem with is taking Rishi's explanation entirely at face value without any caveats, or giving an explanation in the manner that you did:
OK. I see no reason not to take this at face value.
I don't see how Rishi saying it was an error ought to make me less likely to think this.

You didn't need to. 'I won't hold his typing error against him' conveys no doubt whatsoever that it was a typing error.
AlSleet wrote: Well, passing yourself off as an aggressive townie could be used to eliminate suspicion that you're scum. It's like the argument that he acts too townie, therefore he is scum. It's a possibility, I'm not saying that he's scum for definite because of that.
You're actually comparing your argument to 'Too Townie?' 'Too townie' is a terrible, terrible argument and anyone using it should instantly be lynched, and not in the game either. Sure, looking like an aggressive townie, or indeed any kind of townie, is a good way to eliminate suspicion that you're scum. There's a very good reason for that.

Oh, that's simple, to try to build a lynchwagon on Guardian based off spurious premises.

As I said, it's not that I don't think it
was
an error- it's that I'm concerned that certain people seem to be jumping to conclusions. Never good.

Does look very newbscum indeed. Question is, should we lynch him now, or see if a replacement can change our minds? I can't see myself forgiving that kinda behavior from a predecessor, so I don't think it would be fair.

I hate using the 'well it was a random vote and i didn't think anyone would hammer' argument. I agree it was bigtime asscovering, and I disagree that town has the same motivation to do it that scum does- after all, scum know the lynchee isn't scum.

Same reason I don't like acfan's post at the start of this page.

I strongly
dislike
the use of FOS when it would be safe to vote, since it strikes me as showing a lack of courage in your convictions. But I'd agree on the whole 'FOSing town is not scummy' angle. FOSing scum whilst voting town is a common scumtell. I don't thing it works in reverse.

I'm kinda in a bind here. I think acfan stands out as the obviously most scummy player in the game, but I don't feel ready to drop the hammer. The only thing that's changed since I last posted is that JDodge doesn't seem as scummy as Al did. I normally hate this argument, but there is literally nothing else i can say at this point.

The thing is, how do we 'let things develop?' The only way something interesting happens is, well, if someone says something. I suppose the onus is on acfan now.

The way i see it is that Wario is wrong. Seriously, I was on acfan all day yesterday. I was quite happy to hammer, only Rishi did it before I could. Acfan made a big deal of attacking me and Rishi for our quicklynch yesterday, which makes me think Rishi is definitely not his buddy. However, of course, that actually makes it
more
likely he should be lynched today. Bah. Gonna do a re-read, and try to work out what an SK tell might look.

Wario- as you can see, Ac1983fan was my Number one suspect for the whole of yesterday:

Just a note- I never asked for replacement. I posted that I would be gone for a week in V/LA, and Simenon presumably surmised (probably correctly) that the game would die on its arse if I weren't replaced. I don't object to this, though a PM to that effect would have been nice.

Meh, good to know I was right on AlSleet and acfan.

Each of the first two you bumped off was top of my town list when you killed 'em, so I think you chose pretty well.
