indeed. The scum know what the setup is -- we don't.

I wish we had more players active (no, I don't typically post on weekends). Hard to play without everyone in the game.
TM's and Jack's (reasoning unstated) votes on me are noted. Admittedly, I've been slacking off on most of my games, largely due to the convention season, and exhaustion related to same.
Re Dylan: yeah, he always plays like this. Dylan's definately climing the ranks for "most likely to get lynched on Day 1". That said, well, sometimes the "always-scummy" player is, in fact, actually scum. I've been holding on voting him mostly because I'd like to have a full game before pushing tha bandwagon too far.
PBPA:- Jack (replacing Ms Piggy): Lots of vote hopping. Tried to derail dylan bandwagon. Random-voted YT (more or less). Attacked: rishi, ssf, xyzzy. (also shamba, twice, but that was mostly random) as Ms Piggy. And TM/HH and myself as Jack.
Jdodge: Hasn't posted since July 15th. (active in other games as of today, and has 7 pages of posts after his last post in this game. Lurking?). Attacked SSF (because SSF was being over-defensive). Attacked HH. Complained about the 3 pages (!) of joke votes at the beginning of this game.
Patrick: posted attack on Piggy in twilight. defended/voted dylan. attacked (but didn't vote) hh. Attacked Mert d1 for premature claim request, Ms. Piggy. Not a huge number of posts in this game.
Thin_Man (replacing Honary Hitchhiker): Voted xyz, but didn't believe him to be scum. (?!), defended him while voting him. Attacked Mert (but didn't vote him). As Thin_Man, pushed me heavily without giving a reason, largely non-communacative so far.
schismatized: Attacked ssf, dylan. Nearly no content. Lurking?
Shanba: Jokevote nonsense at the beginning of the thread. attacked (ish) xyz and Jdodge. Attacked SSF. Defended Mert. Thinks Thin Man is town for no (known) reason.
xyzzy: Another jokevote player. crapwagon explaination. followed Jack on dylan (has played with dylan a lot; would know dylan always plays like that).
Rishi: attacked Mert for vote hopping. Attacked SSF for being SSF. Was at Gencon (Rishi: I was also at Gencon -- how was your con?) Very little content in total.
dylan41985: Is Dylan. Attacked xyzzy. voted ssf. Content near non-existent.
Most suspicous: Rishi, Thin_Man, Patrick.
Got to vote someone.

Patrick: it's in the PBPA, but...
Rishi: lurking. Has only attacked innocent people.
Thin Man: Has only attacked innocent people + his attack/defense on xyz (which makes him look more suspicous to me).
Patrick: major lurking. contradictory play re dylan. (probably the least scummy of those listed; based on the PBPA, schismated, xyz, and dylan are probably more scummy).Did I say too much?- mneme

Patrick: You have, but your posts looked fairly sporadic in my analysis. (18 posts from you this game, compared to 11 from YT (me)), when nested among all the other games you're playing in. Part of this may have been that my methodology improved through this search run, and you were fairly early in the run (I hadn't though of sorting by topic -- thus getting around the limitations of mafiascum searching by grouping all the posts in the game together).
Re Dylan: you've pointed out that he pretty much always plays this way (ie, badly) town or scum...but you've still got a vote on him. There are situations where simultaneously attacking and defending the same player makes sense, but it's still notable.
Re "top three" -- the top three rollup wasn't as thought through as the rest of the PBPA, so a second analsys of it revealed different priorities. I still like Rishi and TM, though.Did I say too much?- mneme

Rishi: No, not werewolf for me at Gencon -- was too busy (though some of the same people I played werewolf with at Origins were playing it there). 231...was a very lurkish post.
I said the same -kinds- of thing about each player because I was analyzing the same types of things when looking at posts. But some players were lighter (or more...focused) than others.Did I say too much?- mneme

Er, TM? Jack? I listed everything everyone did. Not much significant happened -- but IMO, those who went with the flow and didn't really do much are most suspicious. I'm pretty convinced Rishi's scum, actually, and your (lacksidasical) defense of her is noted.
I picked you over Rishi because your attack on me is also fairly scummy in form -- coming into the game and following while not really giving anything resembling reasoning, whereas Rishi mostly just hasn't been here. Over Patrick because you're more scummy than he is (duh).Did I say too much?- mneme

No, I'm not. I said "I'm pretty convinced she's scum". That's as much saying "I'm convinced she's scum" as saying "I'm almost sure you're a townie" is saying "I'm sure you're a townie."Jack wrote: Now you are saying that you are convinced she's scum.
Lynch All Liars cuts both ways, oddly enough.
I never claimed there was a distinct ranking. I picked three people out of my analysis that looked fairly scummy (one I'd misread my own comments on, but never mind that). Later, I reevaluated my ranking based on TM and Rishi's later posts -- but in fact, thinking someone is more scummy than someone else (as Rishi's lurking was more scummy than Thin Man's stridency/lurking) isn't always enough to change your vote. Just changing your vote whenever you change priorities, even slightly is known as "vote hopping".Implies that the three names you listed are equal and you just had to choose between them. But now you claim there's a distinct ranking.
Before I did some, you know, analysis? Yes, I did, or at least I wanted to see his response before committing. But no, on analysis of the game, I don't think he's in my top 3 -- his contributions have been horrid, but not out of his norm; no town tells, no scum tells, not much play, for that matter. I'd like to see a replacement before making judgment there. You also say about dylan:
This says that you intended to vote dylan when we had more players, but he isn't in your top 3?I've been holding on voting him mostly because I'd like to have a full game before pushing tha bandwagon too far
That's the second time you've misparaphrased me. Please stop doing so. I said I wanted to see what -dylan- (or his replacement) said, nothing to do with more players. You also accused of scummy behavior re:dylan when it's exactly what you said you were going to do when more players got here.
Ah, I see, you're looking later, where I said I wanted a full game, and thought "full game" meant "more players". Oddly enough, it actually meant "all the players" (including dylan).Did I say too much?- mneme

re Dylan (and now Setael): I do think he's scummy (and was therefore wiling to vote for him) -- but the info we got from dylan was pretty vague. The self-conciousness thing is interesting, but I wasn't taking it into account.
Re rishi vs Tall_man: there are other reasons not to shift your vote than trying to avoid accusation of vote hopping -- specifically, the reasons you want to avoid vote hopping in the first place. Among other things, if you don't leave a vote on long enough to make an impression, you don't really get much info.
Rishi: yes, I get that you're a guy. But it's a name that codes as "female" in my head and we were discussing a specific quote.
And since it bothers people...unvote
vote: Rishi

Rishi: Typically, in Romance languages (which English is, sort of), names ending in vowels are female. Not a constant, obviously, but takes wrapping one's head around when one encounters an exception, particulary one not using a final "Y". I'll try not to make that particular mistake again, though discussing quotes is an obvious exception.
Posting in twilight isn't necessary scummy (though it is verbotten in this game). It can be seen as a post for appearance's sake only, however, seeing as it doesn't influence the voting compared to the next day's vote (and things for appearance's sake are, of course, scummy by default).
Patrick, any reason you made that post but then backed off on Ms. Piggy/Jack today?Did I say too much?- mneme

More (and why I typically don't post self-analysis in games), because self-analysis goes down the short road to WIFOM-land -- town will always post more-or-less the truth, whereas scum will always post believable lies. In the end, it's probably the least useful question you can answer.JDodge wrote: Because people generally will have a skewed opinion of their own playstyles, and drop tells subconciously.Did I say too much?- mneme

Oh, re Shanba? I read his retraction as "wow, I lied about getting off, that was really dumb. Ok, here's a retraction".
This is fair as it goes, but that level of self-awareness and that kind of "oh, shit" moment is more scum than town; it's not just the initial lie (one which I doubt anyone would have called him on or cared about, even under LAL).Did I say too much?- mneme

From my perspective, we (that is, the mafia) had self-destructed by the time I was lynched, and it was only a matter of time.
JDodge fakeclaiming is an impressively bad way to lose, though; there's never a reason to let that pass, and that kind of gambit is -exactly- what LAL was coined for.Did I say too much?Copyright © MafiaScum. All rights reserved.
