Yeah that's usually the go to book. It's not bad actually. And it's not just expectant women who should read that. They have some after that are for like the first 4 or so years?

. It helped us get a framework for everything we were going to do.
I also found that in child-raising, the quote that was most accurate is Dwight D. Eisenhower's: "In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable." Our daughter didn't always fall directly in line with our expectations, but having a framework in the first place helped us be prepared to adapt to her needs as they arose.

It's going pretty well. My oldest is almost 8 so we had gotten used to sleeping in again since she has become pretty self sufficient. Let's get real though, sleeping in for us is like 8a.m. He is sleeping through the night though. I have been very blessed that both my children are good sleepers.
Infants aren't smart enough to understand or "condition" themselves not to cry. You can get them on a schedule though by beginning the sleep ritual at the same time and doing the same things. But you shouldn't let your child "cry it out" at such an early age and in my opinion at all before 2-3 years old.
Congrats to everyone expecting! I'm still looking forward to my first but I know it's an exciting journey for anyone going through it. An old regular at Starbucks gave me a couple of books he read while anticipating his first. They're both for expectant fathers, but I figure they'll be good anyway, and at the very least, they cover 2/3 of the parents.
