Awesome! I have finished cleaning the inside of my 63x63 pyramid, and even found a skeleton spawner nearby. Now I need to spend some time planning out the rooms inside before building them.

Yeah uhh we really need some greifprotection.

Hey Blake, the plants was actually me. I destroyed some weeds that I saw when I passed by your crops. That weed would spread and destroy the rest of the crops that remained.

Do not leave empty crops sticks unattended (be it crossover or normal sticks). Weed WILL grow there and destroy your crops.

Do not even leave regular crops unattended for long - sometimes weed will grown on existing crops (specially with crops with low resistance). If you are going to log off near spawn, I suggest picking up all your crops before leaving. Or plant your crops in some area you know will be unloaded when you leave the server.

Cheers!

As for dirt blocks, are you sure it was not endermen? You live near spawn, so your base is loaded all the time.

DON'T use weed-x. Weed-x reduces GREATLY the attributes of your crossbred seeds, to the point that they become actually useless if you want to do anything with them other than having a pretty garden.

Stay near your crops, learn to recognize weeds, kill them manually.

Yeah, crossbreeding crops is kinda boring and work-intensive. I suggest you find something to multitask while doing this. Thaumcraft, podcasts, whatever :-)

Once you get some crops with high resistance, that you don't want to crossbreed anymore, you can leave them alone in isolated fields for harvest. But crossbreeding kinda requires constant supervision.

First you need to left click a fully grown crop to get its seed bag (depending on the crop stats, it drops a variable number of seed bags).

Then you need a "Cropalyzer" to analyze the seedbag. The cropalyzer is a hand held item that consumes EU from a batery to analye a seed bag. To completely analyze the seedbag, it takes around 10k EU.

Yay! Welcome back, kscope!

There are two servers up at the moment:
The vanilla server, at 46.105.234.0:25566 - The vanilla server is kinda low on people though: Only me, Rhinox and MME are ever in, and even then occasionally
Currently the FTB-DW20 modded server is more active. You can connect to it at - 46.105.234.4

Me, Rhinox and Klaz have settled somewhat close to each other (about 100 blocks distance from one another. If we all settle in this kind of distance, we can eventually build road/railroad networks to each other's places (given that FTB takes a bit more of space to set up a base than Vanilla).

I will be making my farms/workshops/etc public as I manage to set them down. Today was a bit laggy, so I just made some basic tools and left.

BTW, we don't need bukkit for chest protection either. Besides the IC2 protected safes, a little know function of the ender chest mod is that you can click an enderchest with a diamond to make it private as well... Also many BC machines can be made semi or completely private.

Sooooo, maybe no bukkit?

I'm not sure if ALL machines can be made private, but manymachines I have made so far have a "public, semi-private and private" setting. Semi-private allow people to interface with the machine, but not to destroy it. Private does not allow any interface at all.

You may think that having everything lockable would be nice (I kinda disagree, but that is beside the point) - but there need to be a compromise with the chance of bukkit fucking up the server again :-)

From there Klaz can connect easily, and I'm gonna connect the little village near spawn next as well.

I'll probably start researching what I need to do to prepare for railcraft stuff tomorrow.

PS I'm jealous of klaz's mining turtles.

So when you click it with a diamond, does it claim that combination as solely yours? Can others not create chests with the same combo? And how to you un-claim a chest?

More or less.... when you click it with a diamond, it creates a separate combination associated with your character - say, "white white white - Izaak", so that other people can't create the same combination, but everyone still can use the "white white white" combination normally. I think that if you break and re-place the chest, it gets cleared.

I Feel your pain Rhinox.

I find that it gets easier if you use as few mods as possible at a time, and slowly adds them over time. I rather prefer BC over IC, so I will try to explain how you would do that using the BC route as much as possible.

Goal: Generate power for a bee operation.
Source: Steam from M's tesseract.

First: yes, the tesseract needs to be chunkloaded from M's end. Ask M to plump a chunkloader there.
Second: Don't bother with fluid pipes - liquiducts are much, much, much easier to deal with, and only need two machines, one of which you should already have.

The two machines you need for liquiducts are: A grinder of some sort (can be a macerator or pulverizer), and a induction smelter.

To make an induction smelter: you need two iron dust and one ferrous dust to make (by hand) three invar dust. Smelt the invar dust into ingots, and use the ingots in the induction smelter recipe.
With the induction smelter, you can smelt one lead (powered or ingot, doesn't matter) and two obsidian dust (macerate or pulverize obsidian), into two hardened glass. Two copper and one hardened glass in a crafting table gives you 4 liquiducts.

Now you need a tank to store the steam. Forget about iron tanks. Use Xycraft tanks. Seriously, unless you want to make a 3x3x3 tank, xycraft tanks are superior in every aspect to iron tanks. To make a xycraft tank, all you need is to make xycraft valves (no machines required, other than smelting the xycraft gems). Simply make a box of wood or cobblestone (or prettier material), and stick a xycraft valve somewhere in that box, and right click it, and you have your tank. You might want two valves for input/output, but the default recipe gives you 4, so no problem.

So, connect your tesseract to the xycraft valve (I think they can be connected directly), make sure the tesseract is configured to "output only", and on the right channel. Connect the other valve to the engine via liquiducts - use at least two liquiducts. Right click the liquiduct that is connected to the valve with a wrench - an output "arrow" should appear in it. Apply a redstone signal to the output tube: a lever will do. Done :-D

Let me know if you if have any questions (pm or reply here), I'd be happy to give more info.

I know I'll eventually figure it all out, I'm just frustrated because lately it seems like I only have smaller chunks of time to get on, and I'm ready to actually start seeing results rather than perpetual set-up. Heh, you picked one of the largest mods to start with ;-)

If you feel frustrated, take a break from "climbing the tech tree", and use the cool natural blocks (marble, basalt, autumn trees) to just build architectural stuff. :-)

Thats my plan. I was going to start with railcraft but then decided I wanted to start out with something a little simpler. Forestry seemed simpler, and I get something IMO useful out of it (new wood colors).

Well, both Railcraft AND forestry are expansions to Buildcraft, so you can't really get into any of these without learning a bit of BC first. Here is my particular breakdown of mods, maybe it can help you to see which are related:

Buildcraft tree:
* Buildcraft (BC): Adds tree engines, "tubes" transport system, quarries and fillers, marble and basalt and a few machines to automatically process ore.
* Thermal expansion (TE): Adds more engines, better tubes and energy transport system, resource teleportation, more machines to process ores. Depends a bit on Buildcraft to get started, but can be done without BC if you really know the mod.

The following three depends on having a basic BC or TE system stablished:
* Railcraft: Changes the rail system of vanilla, adds tons of options to rails, adds steam power and liquid tanks. Adds automatic feeders.
* Forestry: adds biofuel, automatic farming, backpacks (these are super useful, and not dependent on the rest of the mod)
* Bees/Extra Bees: Adds new ways to generate resources, new trees, colored glasses

IC Tree:
* As buildcraft, adds an energy system, lots of machines for processing ore. Also adds many tiers of tools and armor. Some interesting "offshoots" in the mod are the crops system (farming resources, super time intensive) and nuclear generation of energy.
* Important: IC does not include an "Item transport" system - so you have to either move everything by hand, or mix it with BC a bit.
* Modular Powersuits: Not exactly an extension of IC, but depends on IC for power, and the recipes based on IC are simpler. This is a very fun to play armor system: you create an armor and add/remove abilities to it to make different configurations.

Thaumcraft:
An independent, really large and in-depth mod about magic items. It has almost all the functionalities as the other mods, but in a slightly different order. Includes a fair number of new blocks as well.

RedPower2:
Unlike BC and IC, where you have "machines" with complex functions, in RP2 you have blocks with very simple functions that can be put together to make large machines. So you have a block that breaks other blocks, and you have a block that moves other blocks - you can combine both (and a few other stuff) to build a machine that breaks a line of blocks and move itself forward to break the next line. Includes a lot of "redstone gates" blocks, to make building redstone mechanisms simpler.

Redpower2 also includes the "microblocks" that can be great for improving builds.

ComputerCraft:
Includes a computer and a robot (turtle), both can understand a programming language called LUA. The computer can send wireless signals to other computers, set redstone signals around it, and write to a piece of paper or to a large "monitor" block. The turtle can do all of the above, and also move around and use tools like a player.

Factorization:
Includes machines for processing ores but, frankly, they are kinda clunky. Has the famous barrels, and upgrades to those barrels, as well as a "magic" sorting machine (the router).

Twilight Forest and Mystcraft: adds new worlds to explore, so there is not really a tech tree to climb here. Twilight forest adds a bunch of new blocks and mobs in itself.

Xycraft: Adds a lot of new crafting blocks, and a few "magic" machines that work well along with other mods, such as an auto crafting table, a tank, a block that destroys liquids, a block that creates ice, etc, etc.

I might be forgetting a few ones, but these are the main ones that involve new blocks.

1- an OP/Maru should be able to answer this.
2- Yes, you can have multiple outputs out of different Tesseracts in the same channel. If I remember correctly, each Tesseract has an input/output limit of 100MJ/t (so you WANT more tesseracts if you want a higher throughput). I don't know the output limit per tesseract for liquids. I don't know if they are evenly split.
3- I'm not sure if the pipes will blow up or not, but I KNOW energy conduits don't blow up. Use them.

Just so you guys know;
- You can press "F7" to turn on "spawnable squares" view -- every square where an agressive overworld mob can spawn will be shown with a red "X". Great for lighting up bases and not getting fooled by "bright".
- Also, on the same breath, "F9" shows chunk boundaries. Useful to avoid machines misbehaving because of unloaded chunks.
- A safety linking book is useful almost always - got stuck in the nether with no way back home? linking book! Got lost in the twilight forest? Linking book!

Cheers!

There are two ways around the "dumped on the ground" problem:
1- As Maestro said, to use RP tubes instead of buildcraft pipe. RP tubes don't have the "dump to the ground" problem - if they can't deliver an item to its destination, they get clogged and just stop working until the destination is available again.

2- Buildcraft has the "gate" system: basically a BC gate is an item that is attached to a tube, and when the gate detects a condition, it sends a redstone signal, or a pulse. So, for instance, if the BC gate detects that the fermenter is empty, it will send a signal to the tube coming out of the fabricator, to extract one more compost. The problem with BC gates is that it is a bit expensive to get started with them - the block that produces gates costs a few diamonds to set up.

On one side I'll have the pneumatic tube pulling compost out of a xycraft fabricator and sending it to the fermenter and on the otherside I'll have the pneumatic tube pulling saplings and other "organic matter" out of a chest and sending it to the fermenter. For either side, will I need to power the tubes in any way or otherwise use any other machine to make sure the tubes are working and sending items how they should?

Pneumatic tubes don't need power, but they don't pull items out of blocks automatically. You will need either a block that ejects items from its inventory, or - what is more common - an RP machine that pulls items from an inventory.

The simplest RP machine that pulls items from an inventory is a "transposer". A transposer needs a redstone pulse for each item pulled - you will need some sort of redstone clock sending pulses to the transposer. RP2 has a block that works as a redstone clock.

If you don't want to bother with a clock, you can replace your chest with a relay. A relay is like a small chest that automatically ejects items to RP tubes connected to its output side、but its recipe is a little more complicated.

In short, you need to connect a transposer to your chest (I'm not sure about the fabricator, I think it might output items automagically into tubes), a redstone clock to your transposer, and then connect the tubes from the transposer to the destination.

So this is what I have been doing on my SSP world:

So to avoid having to spend hours looking for pages in mystcraft world, I have set this market: 1 mystcraft testificate to sell me pages, and three other testificates with easy trades for me to get emeralds:

This is my work in progress: a room full of LV5 soulshards controlled by computer. Clicking on a mob's name will turn that mob's spawner on/off. There are enchanting turtles nearby, and clicking the bottom button turns them on (for automated enchanting) or off (for an XP grinder). Still have to implement a "turn all on/off" button, add more soulshards (spiders, creepers, zombie pigmen and wither skels)

And this is my big failure. I build a grandiose thaumcraft room, full of research bonuses. When I finally made a wand, I found out that this spot was on a null-magic area. I will have to build an actual thaumcraft workshop somewhere else, and maybe eventually move a note to my base. Oh well, it is all about the challenge.

Rhinox, stick those eggs in a Barrel. You can put the same amount as other items, even if the stack size is smaller. Since you can breed chickens with seeds, no point in breaking eggs.

Or you can just chuck them in a void pipe.

Rhinox, I saw challenge one and was all "well, that doesn't seem too hard", then I went all WTF in the others. Maybe you could use a turtle with sample, normal leaves to make things easier for you?

Hey guys

1- A MC modded server without IC2? You guys have balls. I highly approve. (I'm a bit sad about RP2, but I totally understand the reasons)
2- You guys should reset vanilla, and make the server always run the latest, bleeding-edgest snapshot, and no mods (not even bukkit). Wild wild west style. I volunteer to archive the old vanilla world.

Good luck, and I'll drop by sometimes if possible, cheers!

Yeah, I realized that after I went to sleep. No irc, and no dynmap (although dynmap can probably be replaced with a script). It was kind of a joke suggestion, I was npt expecting it to get that much traction.

Hmmm a mod that simply implements IRC listening shouldnt be that hard to implement, though...... Hmmmmmmmm.

A server-side mod that listens to IRC and broadcasts that into minecraft seems like something so simple, that I'd be surprised that no one has either an independent mod, or a module to forge/bukkit that is current to the snapshots. That sounds like a fun project.

Exactly. I had the capitalization problem when I first downloaded the DW pack, this is a bit different.

Maybe someone who has all the mods working together could prepare a temporary zip file? I can host it for others to download until the FTB team fixes the problem.

To be quite honest, Cubic chunks are not as symple as they look.
I can imagine they add a lot of complexity to the raytracing of light levels. If the sky chunks are unloaded, how do you keep track of which bottom chunks are affected by light or not? How do you recalculate that efficiently if you modify the top chunks and the bottom chunks but leave the middle ones unloaded? Lots of oportunities for slow/buggy code there.

Hmmm, I read a bit their post. I'm somewhat skeptical, but would be willing to give it a test drive.

Heh, Rhinox (and everyone), I started work on a "welcome tower" - it is even connected to the road and everything! It is a community project, so if anyone wants to try their hand at improving the tower, feel free!

Oh, and just a recap of recent block changes in Minecraft (besides horses):
1- Hay bales (9 wheat)
2- Show covers (3 snow blocks, can stack up to 6 on top of snow)
3- Clay blocks (can be colored)
4- Carpets (2 Wool)

Cheers!

I would love to have something organized like this. We would probably have to clear some ground, because unless I forgot that quickly, spawn area is everything but flat.

My base is just North from Bag End. Little island with a cottage-like house on it.
Let me know when you (and whoever else, IDC) can be on so we can survey for a location then?

You don't need sticky pistons, you could have two "shakers"

Piston - dirt - dirt - dirt - dirt - dirt - Piston

It seems that ocean temples are reasonably common. Looting them is hard, but totally worth it for the shiny rocks.

In one of the recent snapshots -- mid June, I think.

They have two new mobs: guardians and Elder guardians -- the elder guardians don't respawn, but there are so many temples this is not really an issue. The temples are made of "prismarine" blocks, which you can farm also from the guardian mobs.

The elder guardian cause the "mining fatigue" debuff, so it is hard to loot the temple before they are dead. Also, everything is underwater, so better to have some depth strider enchantments and darkvision potions ready.

The community farm has a cookhouse/food storage/seed stock room in progress, although I haven't been on Vanilla much the last 2-3 days so 'In Progress' means I've hollowed out the room :P

Don't know if it is close enough to spawn to stay loaded 24/7 though.

I think I saw it today, I can put some furnaces in there if you don't mind (unless you are planning to do some machinery there yourself). I think it is close enough for it to be loaded, but we can test that.

Also, does anyone have a full enchanting setup that I could use? :-)

The new version has made many of the blocks that were prizes in the previous server obtainable legally. Here are a few ideas of simple, but repeatable/consumable prizes:

- 16 or 32 Cobwebs (still not obtainable)
- 1 or 2 Villager Spawn eggs?
- XP pots (XP is easy to get now, mostly convenience)
- Player heads (it would be cool to get the head of the maze maker as a prize, lol)

Also, I'm still looking for someone with a full enchanting setup (or a bunch of cows that I can borrow to make my own)

BTW, now that we have command blocks and score, it is possible to make rewarding at the end of a maze automatic, without having to populate a "loot" chest - maybe it is even possible to reward each player only once per maze (I can try to look at this during the weekend)

Hey, I like path C!

Also, As my building is near spawn, but across a small bay, I would like to ask you not to build a bridge to my place. Instead, I have marked an alternative approach using mossy cobblestone (feel free to get rid of the cobblestone).

(I will probably build that path to spawn myself... someday :-P)

Also, I found this awesome base behind the mountains around my base: whose is this?

If you do have a silk touch pick, you can come to about -600,600 to grab some ice at the ice maker :-) I'll make a nether road to here later, but just sail off the sea near spawn and you should see this soon.

Oh, I'm not worried about Minecraft. The game, the hobby as we have it right now will most likely be fine (and if things turn out bad, we will always have offline mode)

I'm just bummed because I really enjoyed the image of Mojang as the "little" studio out of nowhere that stood tall among big game companies.

So, vanilla:

I have cleaned up my "village" -- there is now a nice trading post in my tower near spawn: there is a toolsmith villager with a Fortune diamond pick for sale, a librarian village with a silk touch book for sale (CHEAP!) and farmer and priest villagers to buy your zombie flesh and produce for emeralds. As long as you don't bring a creeper in, the place should be zombie free as well :-) (come at day, it is not completely night proof yet).

I have also finished the Iron Golem farm - I still need to prettify it, but there is a stone brick path from my fortress to the collection point. Take as much as you want, but if you do take everything, please try to stay online for a while around spawn (maybe trading with the villagers?) to allow the farm time to replenish the iron.

Have fun! Next time I'm online I'll finish the road from spawn to my area.

Also, if anyone would like to contribute any quantities of netherrack or netherbricks, to my building efforts, it would be much appreciated.

I'll check the swamp. I wanted to make an automated slime ball farm though, which is kinda hard in the swamp.

Crash landing - world seven: start >.<

In try six I just got to the city, and forgot to break ONE spawner in the TiC building....... >.<

But I'm getting better in the pack. From zero to stone wall, powered water and candleberries in just over 3 hours.

Maybe I should grind my way to a PCB so I can at least have sync before trying the city again...

The thing is: to build a sync shell, I need a PCB, to need a PCB, I need a large part of the pneumatic craft, and to get pneumatic craft without going to the city takes a lot of grinding.

I might end up doing just that, but I'm not really looking forward to it.

You start with one if you chose the "easy way" quest line. The "hard way" does not give you one. (you also start with less bonemeal and no oak saplings)

Really? That is some really good info, thanks!

That said, I think that from my last city raid I learned where the spawners are on the pneumatic craft building. I should be able to go as far as making a sync core this time......

Yup - every machine in this pack requires a PCB board, and you need a full pneumatic craft set to build it, which requires about 2 stacks of Iron or so.

However, until you get automation going, you need to pay the iron tax to get shears to get you water. This means that it takes a long time before you can start making machines. The alternative is risking a ruined city full of blaze and pigmen spawners for the machine parts. Didn't work out so hot for me last time.

However, once you get the Sync chamber, it just requires power to set up, and once you make your first PCB, it is a relatively straightforward process to make more, so this is the big gatekeeper in this pack.

I'm in my seventh run right now. Stablished a perimeter, and got my basic water and dirt machines working. I still need to get a soy seed to clear my food issues. Then I will probably just work on a mob trap and the rest of the base until I have enough iron to progress on pneumaticraft the grindy way.

I have finished most of the "public service" area of my Vanilla base a few weeks ago: There is an Iron Golem farm (Feel free to take the iron!) and a villager shopping mall. I was in the process of pretty-fying everything and building myself a throne room... but then Crash Landing happened :-P

Now I found a quest that requires me to kill a ton of mobs and rewards me with... a Sync Core! (dance) Once I finish that, I'll be on my way to clear that modpack.

That is because that is NOT the villager shopping mall ;-) Those are the villagers for the iron golem farm.

The shopping mall is inside the large square building made out of nether bricks and stone bricks, there is a stairway leading to it that can be seen from MME's little fort at spawn - I'll post a picture tonight.

Yaaaaay! Got a Sync core in a quest!

Then proceeded to loot the city....

And got killed by zombie pigmen again. But at least I get a second chance!

Now I'm setting up a SFM production line before I try recovering my stuff.

Also I dun goofed and lost my casting table -- that one I won't be able to recover without a city trip.

If you have a cobblestone generator, Grout is easy.

How? The gravel+clay recipe is disabled in crash landing. I know I can melt pebbles down to seared stone in a crucible, but then I need a casting table to transform the seared stone into a seared brick. Are there other ways?

ETL - I don't even have a smeltery! All I have is a ExNihilo crucible - the crucible serves as a poor man's smeltery - it will create alloys, but won't double ores. It also melts cobble into lava, not seared bricks (it does melt pebbles into seared bricks).

Yeah, this modpack does try to push you into going to the pigman infested city in order to get many higher tier machines, by making many of their recipes "circular" (i.e., you can't get them from basic materials alone)

Yes but ...

Anyway, after a lot of "Steve's Factory Manager" assisted grinding I've finished my pneumatic craft setup - I can now start building MFR machines, which should reduce the grind significantly.

So, the son of one of my friends was asking me if I knew anything about a Minecraft reproduction of Tokyo Disneyland. (It is really awesome)

My google search led to a japanese server hosted by the guys who built the map. They dont distribute the file, but the server itself is open for visitors from time to time. However, their twitter has been inactive for the past two months.

That would have been the end of it, but I found some youtube videos of french letsplayers using that map. They were playing in single player, which leads me to believe that the map has been leaked.

Has anyone heard of such map before, and know where I could get it?

Cheers!

Idea: If you are keeping this server up just for a few weeks for nostalgia, and then moving to a brand new world, then maybe give people TP/fly privileges so they can explore the glory of the olden days :-)

I'll try to log in in the weekend.

I heard there is an expectator mode now, havent read into it though.

Edit: Just read the wiki - spectator mode might be just what you want: It allows one to fly and clip through blocks, but not interact with the world -- so it would be great for running a "museum" server. We could even set up a command block to give spectator mode to players on demand.

So, hopped back into the world -- all nether portals were deactivated, and activating them again generates... "fun" ... locations for the new portals :-)

Travellers, beware!

1.9 is not out yet. The snapshots are fun, but a bit buggy (horses and minecarts do not load chunks currently, so you cannot go anywhere by minecarts/horses except the chunks already loaded.

Fantastic!

I would recommend that no one builds anything of importance in the End, as we will probably have to reset the end once 1.9 comes around.

Minecraft: Story Mode is pretty, and nice if you really like minecraft (like us), but I found it inferior to other telltale adventure games that I have played so far (fable, walking dead I, II)

I just bought Telltale Game of Thrones a couple weeks ago and that has been the only telltale game I've played. I have walking dead season 1 that I picked up for free off games with gold but haven't played it. Don't watch walking dead so not sure if I'd enjoy it. I was thinking about getting Minecraft Story Mode but there's a lot of games I want to play, and not a lot of free time to play them.

Go play the walking dead.

You don't need to see the series to enjoy it, the game stands by itself (as long as you don't actually dislike zombie stories as a whole). There are a few characters from the series that make small cameos, but that is pretty minor. Telltales TWD is a wonderful, wonderful game that I can't recommend enough, specially if you liked game of thrones.

Edit: Also, I've finished my dirty hut, and getting some basic supplies. I am going to a 4 day trip, but i should be back on the server Sunday

The city is looking pretty grand. You guys should make a tunnel on the hill across the river, so I can make a road from that to my place :-)

By the way, is the prismarine lamp in the city gate legit? Is there a sea grinder somewhere?

Coordinates? I think your place may be really close to mine :-)

Also, I explored the deserts far to the northeast of spawntown. Found a large village with many librarians and priests, one of whom is selling a Looting III book. I will try to bring them closer to us via nether next time I can play for a long time (this weekend?). If anyone goes that way, try not the get the villagers killed :-P

I just realized that I started playing Minecraft 5 years ago. I wonder if this is more than any other computer game I have ever played for long periods of time. (Old SNES RPGs that I play once on console and again 10 years later on emulator don't count, I guess.

If any of you guys are interested in programming, Mojang is collaborating with "Hour of Code" to launch a mini programming tutorial using Minecraft.

The tool that they use for programming is the same one that I use when I give introductory CS classes for high school students, and it is super fun to use. I highly recommend this course if you never programmed before! :-)

Yes. That is one of the big reasons I choose to settle where I did.

BTW, I have a 3x3 map wall at my place that you should definitely check up. (and anyone else who is looking for prime real state not far from spawn -- there are some nice places waiting to be used)

I was thinking it'd be pretty cool to fix up the couple areas to make it contiguous, but I'm not quite sure how to go about making that area boatable without putting a whole in the wall that could also potentially allow mobs through.

Since the wall of this spawntown is walkable, I'd make a pier on the outside of the wall with a door/stairway to the top of the wall.

Also someone should make a house/pathway to the spawn portal that is still outside spawn.

Hindu, BTW, I redid the part of the track that goes near my area.

It goes underground near my farms, stops by a train station at the base, and emerges on the other side of the hill back to the original track.

I still need to work a bit more on my train station, and add booster tracks to compensate for the detour, but it should all be mobproof. Let me know if you like it :-)

Nah, it is trivial to automate an endoflame garden, if you want to stick to low hanging fruit.

Automation of that flower that eats explosions (can't remember the name now), is equally easy by dropping activated TNT in water. You just need to worry about adjusting the timer and producing the TNT.

I just learned about this change today, but reading Vaskii's post on the matter, I can totally stand behind her reasoning.

Funnily enough, after 4-5 days of end of year shenanigans at school, I tried to log in about two hours ago. :)

But it is no surprise that attendance will be low over the holidays.

So yesterday I was cleaning up my hard drive, and found some old SSP minecraft worlds that I thought I had deleted. The oldest one was an 1.5 world from 2013. Unfortunately the worlds I liked most were not in those saves :-(

As someone who hosted the MS server for a while on my own linux box, that is extremely moronic of them.

So I have started putting together some 1.8.9 mods. Right now my personal modpack is only Roguelike Dungeons and Thaumcraft, but it has been super fun. I'm waiting for the Botania 1.8.9 fork to turn official.

Hey Klaz, can I have the seed for the Vanilla server? I want to run a slime chunk checker to see where I can make my slime farm.

Cheers,

Neat! I want to start Botania myself, but I'm currently gated by a lack of bonemeal to grow flowers :-( Maybe this weekend I'll have the time to do some proper caving, or make a mobfarm.

Hmrm, this weekend I'm getting quite a serious case of the Timeouts :-/ not sure if there is anything to be done about that, though.

On the other hand, I have perfected my first "make mineshaft" spell with PSI :-) easy 3x1 digging spell that also fill holes for your mining delight :-)

A few weeks ago I was having problems connecting to the modded server: I would get time-out'ed 4 out of every 5 times I tried to connect. For now I'm mostly playing single player at a world I found from 2012

You probably should go for 1.10.2 already. Pretty much any 1.9.4 mod in active development has ported to 1.10.2.

Neat! I will show up tonight!

The thing I like about Vanilla is how "horizontal" it is. No matter how many diamonds someone have, you are just one hour or two away from being "in the game". Modded is fun, but it is too vertical, in terms that everyone is trying to climb that tech tree.

That said, once they figure out a "Sky-factory" like modpack for 1.10, I'm sure I'll be all over it. Grinding in the void is addicting.

Also, block lag (blocks disappearing and reappearing) can be cause by large ping between client and server. Are you sure it is not on your end?

if you have shell access, you might want to check the CPU usage of minecraft and other processes.

About 20 blocks from my main mining stairs, I was mystified when I came to a small lava pool with obsidian on the edge, but no water in sight.
Kept digging, and kept my string of 50+ block tunnels with no diamonds alive. :(

Came back to the lava pool cave to see if the cave went anywhere. Turns out there was a torch on the other side. Whoever owns that hut by the lava pool next to spawn, your long straight mine ends up almost under my house over in the woods. :giggle:
That was probably my mine :-D Let's make an underground path of awesome!

(I think Vaskii has uploaded a script to download modpacks from curse somewhere, but I can't search it right now)
