And, at the risk of sounding vain, it just occurred to me that the time between my confirmation and dawn breaking
could
have been due to mafia/doc/cop/whathaveyou switching to me as their target.

A little early in the game (only four contributing members so far) to declare that your "vote stays," Rick. Looking a little rabid, to me.

I like the "interp" and think there might be something to it...but one thing about it I
don't
like: it's text in a quote box that
isn't
an actual quote. I hate that because it can be misleading (although Glamdring did tag it as his words, I still think of that as a dangerous practice).

Because I kinda buy that. Now no role claim is safe...but I think it would have been risky for Mal to put the "Congratulations!" as part of his claim if he weren't town because, for all scum knew, DB could have only been congratulating the cell-destroying roles.

I'm not
sold
on his innocence -- but neither am I sure enough to vote him over Yggdrasil.

Sorry - that was quick and probably needs explanation...

Yggdrasil
- too late; sure he understands
now
.

mlaker
- wants to know if anyone else got "Congratulations" -- sounds like he didn't. And when he voted Malaprop it was with "definate scummyness" as an explanation, but I don't think he really understood the bandwagon because his back-up "huge almost vote" went to vIQles instead of Yggdrasil.

As for
Malaprop
, I'm not so sure about his scumminess anymore because, as I said earlier, he posted his role with the "Congratulations!" which could have been risky if he were scum. I have the same beginning to my role, so I'll go after the other one who didn't catch on quickly.

Well, even if we have just one killing group, it could still contain two members. I do agree that it it's looking as though the game lacks an SK...but don't want to bank on it just in case he's got some restrictions or has chosen to lie low to lull us into a false sense of security.

Basically, I'd consider a cop claim at this point somewhat risky. We're in good shape having played only two game days resulting in two scum lynches...let's see what day 3 shakes lose. We can consider exposing important roles later on if we've not come up with any compelling suspicions.

Ah - good point, Mal -- I'd forgotten about DB's role revelation.

We still can't write off the possibility of super-docs or a lying-low SK, though -- and I'm paranoid enough to fear the worst in every game. ~whines~

And looking back over your posts, you were hard after bigben yesterday -- and said today that you've been suspicious of him "from the beginning." Wouldn't it have made much more sense to block
him
? You also said this yesterday regarding mlaker's bandwagon:
Caveman wrote:Seems I'm late for the lynching party. I guess I'll wait and see what happens.
When Quailman pointed out that you weren't late at all, instead of voting him you said this
Caveman wrote:Yeah, it is confusing.

I did a search on 'scum. mlaker has been MIA since March 29th. :| Did he go on another vacation?
Rather weird for someone who seemed upset about missing the lynch.

vote: Caveman

Caveman - of course I'm not saying we should lynch people without allowing a response. But the case against mlaker was pretty strong...SO strong, in fact, I can't believe you didn't block HIM on night 2 rather than Malaprop.

And, just to explain myself...I'd "cleared" you on a bit of sketchy detective work of my own and now I'm second-guessing it because your Nights 2 & 3 actions seem hinky....

Here's the deal -- it's a little sneaky, but this is what happened: Day 1, after Rick posted his win criteria and the brouhaha started with Yggdrasil & Mal seeming not to understand it, you logged on and I saw you browsing Little Italy. Then you left Little Italy without posting and I thought "a-ha! Scum afraid to post because he doesn't understand what's going on either!" Then, I clicked the "Who Is Online" link at the bottom of the Forum Index and saw you were checking your Private Messages...and then you immediately came back to the game, said you believed Rick, and voted Malaprop. THAT convinced me of your innocence because you seemed to read the thread, then check your own role PM's win criteria, and vote accordingly.

It seemed strong at the time...but without that "evidence" your blocks make very little sense.

I personally think the game was set up well and wonder how things might have gone without the board funkiness -- which is what prevented mlaker from logging on to defend himself. I don't know that I would have
believed
him regardless of what he said, but it would have been nice for him to be able to make the effort.

Just like players learn a little more with each game...mods learn a little more with each game. If mods allow direct quoting of Role PMs, it's best to shake up the wording a bit from role to role
unless
the scum is terribly strong and the town needs all the help it can get. That said, I was happy with the game -- DB was attentive, accurate (more than most, anyway!), and wrote good roles. I look forward to playing in the next game he mods!

vIQleS wrote:(I'm not rereading at this time but didn't you start the caveman bandwagon as well?)
Yeah, but I explained that as well -- it had to do with his claimed night choices not lining up with his day behavior. Sometimes I think it's just that I'm on the site so durn often that makes me the first to notice stuff. It's not that I'm better at the game...just the first reading and commenting on the scummy-sounding posts.
