If by premise you mean the plot then that's extremely not what the game's about. If by premise you mean climbing on giant monsters and stabbing them with pretty (then) graphics then yeah that's pretty much all there is to it.

Shared Katamari Reroll with my little apprentice gamer and as I hoped it was a huge hit! I even got to play the 2 player battle mode for the very first time, that was fun too. Great game. Love the engaging gameplay, the stylish low poly graphics, the funky soundtrack, the general absurdity.

I've seen suggestions that less than 100% kills is acceptable for 100% speedruns of phobos anomaly because of the end room but you can easily kill all those with rocket splash damage if you have a bit of health/armor and maybe that invisibility.

Yeah I just stood around for like 5+ seconds in the death room after blowing everything up just waiting for the nukage to get me.

Finally strung together a 100% episode one without stopping to double check at level endings.

There's this rising floor in deimos lab that crushes me but not to death but then never goes back down so I have to quit back to the start menu rather than just dying and restarting the level it's got me twice now.

I seriously wondered whether the level may have been removed from the Switch release for some reason and replaced with a duplicate of mission 1 and then Cyberdemon.

It's also very satisfying to learn tricks like that rocket jump from Mt. Erebus, or like the secret area in e1m9 with all the difficult to reach items on the columns.

I did it without invulnerability because I wasted them all before I figured it out. I obviously ate a bunch of splash damage, repeatedly, but did get there.

I made it to Against Thee Wickedly and died in a lava pit I couldn't find an exit to. What a cool episode it's definitely harder and there's definitely too many damaging floors.

When I heard that cyberdemon I ran so fast back across those gaps to hide in the plasma gun room, very pleased how natural and smoothly that went and what a neat addition those hops are in general. Oh and I got that bfg from the little tightrope puzzle.

I did know that about the pistol but I had no idea it applied to the automatic weapons as well thank you.

And I would bet the item you missed is in that annoying area with the identical rooms with cruciform walkways through nukage. Or maybe one of the health bonuses in the blue room with all the yellow doors.

I finally tried out really using the plasma gun and not just saving it for bosses and wow! The speed of the chaingun with rocket launcher dps and no splash damage. The projectiles didn't hit corners nearly as often as I thought they would. Run as fast as with the chaingun but even faster because everything dies immediately. And between it and the almost as good chaingun I never ran out of ammo for both. 100%x3 halls of the damned under par without attempting to!

Rogue Legacy was the most blatantly not very much like Rogue game I played that was still marketed as such. Fun though.

I feel that there's a pretty big gulf between a game like that an an actual roguelike. There is procedural generation, albeit of a very different kind of environment which is then explored in a very different manner than in a roguelike. And the way you play against full permedeath feels very different than the way you play with a succession of characters in a single game. And the gameplay really is just so entirely not the same.
