(stolen and modified in the night from VasudeVa)

Please read over the rules carefully. I've
bolded
things that may be specific to this game for skimmers' convenience.


On Gameplay

  • 1. I have the final say in any form of dispute.
    2. Although I am a handsome moderator, I am not infallible. Feel free to point out any mistake by PMing me or by a bolded message in thread.
    3. The moderator likes
    Pansy Purple (#8800BF)
    for important things. Don't even ostensibly use that colour. This is a modkillable offense.
    4. All game-related communication between the mod and players STAY between the mod and the players. Breaking this rule results in insurmountable modkills.
    5. All game-related communication between players STAY in the thread
    unless explicitly stated otherwise
    . Talking about the game outside of the thread without the mod's approval is a modkillable offense.
    6. Falsifying the mod is a modkillable offense. I am the judge of whether I have been falsified or not.
    7. Small or invisible text as a secret communication is disallowed.
    Cryptography is also disallowed.

    8. Loopholes are bad and dick-ish. Modkills may ensue.
    9. Modkills revert the player's role into a Neutral Survivor. The player then dies a painful death, losing the game for themselves and embarrassing their family.
On Voting, Activity and Deadlines

  • 1. Please aim to post at least once a day. (The more the merrier!)
    2. V/LAs are to be announced in thread and bolded or sent to the moderator via PM.
    3. Players who don't post in
    48 hours
    will be prodded. Players have 24 hours to respond to a prod or they will be force replaced. Players may request prods on a specific player via a bolded message in thread.
    4. A 'three strikes and you're out' rule on prods and replacement is enforced. That is, three prods and you're force replaced.
    5. This game has
    two week deadlines
    at the beginning of each game day. Keep in mind that your mod is a very busy (and very handsome) man, so I may be a little flexible on this to allow myself time to sleep. There will be deadline countdowns to help enforce timely conduct.
    6. Votes/Unvotes may be done either by bolding your Votes or using Vote tags. If you don't use tags, colons (:) make my life a lot easier. Usernames may be shortened but it has to be easily discernible. Example: VOTE: AV (although I don't know WHY you'd ever want to vote AV)
    7. Unvotes are nice but not required.
    8. Lynches need a majority (half the number of living players +1) to go through
    unless explicitly stated otherwise
    .
    9. A No lynch needs 50% of the votes.
    10. A No Lynch will happen at deadline without a full lynch majority.
    11. Once you're dead, please don't post
    unless explicitly allowed by the mod
    .
    I will allow one Bah! style post
    , so long as it contains no game related information.
    12. The Lynched may speak during Twilight (ie. before the mod posts the death scene).
    13. Play to win!
Final Notes

Game-deck was originally created by ChannelDelibird for the 2013 UK Scummers Meet. An expansion pack was added by the group, taking the total to 98 roles.
Thanks to Cogito Ergo Sum, hitogoroshi and PeregrineV for letting me pester them and helping me to iron out a few potential issues before the roles were even sent!

Set-up Specific Rules


1. This is a 9p Semi-Open Micro.

2. From the Wiki:
  • Each player is randomly assigned two roles from the deck. They must immediately choose one to keep and discard the other.
  • Once every player has chosen a role - and there is at least one antitown role in the game - any roles with partners are informed of their partners.
  • At the start of Day 1, every player's discarded role is publicly revealed.
3. Roles
  • All possible roles are included in the above wiki.
  • There may be third parties or cults, but there are no jesters.
4. Wincons
  • All wincons will be the same; "You win when all factions other than your own are dead, or nothing can prevent the same."[/b]
  • The exception to this rule is the Lyncher, which must lynch a random player to win and leave the game; and Survivor, which must be alive at Endgame to win. The Survivor role does
    not
    count against the above wincon.
  • A situation where neither team can win will result in a draw. If the game reaches a point at which a win for a particular faction is a foregone conclusion, the game will be called early (i.e. two mafia versus a vanilla townie).
5. The setup has no set number of town or anti-town roles. However, if a setup winds up with less that 50% town roles
after choices have been made
then the role choices will be rerolled.

6. This is a
full reveal
game.

7. Role-Related Communication
  • Anti-town factions will be allowed to communicate during the night and pregame phase only.
  • Masons have day and night talk enabled.
  • Lovers do not have private communication.
8. From the Wiki
  • If more than 2 Masons or Lovers are chosen, then all the Masons form one Mason group, and all the Lovers form one Lover group (rather than separate pairs). The Nymphomaniac, however, creates a separate Lover group when it uses its action on Night 1. It is possible to unite the two groups if the Nymphomaniac targets an existing Lover, however.
  • The One-Shot PGO is activated on the first night during which someone targets it. Any and all players who target it in that one night die.
  • The Alien faction has only a one-shot factional nightkill for the whole game. The faction was designed to appear rarely but have powerful role actions.

@Everyone:
Do you prefer to be scum or town?

I neeeeeeeeeeeeeearly chose SK. It was a very hard decision but I decided that I probably wouldn't be able to win. Generally speaking, SK is the only scum faction which I would usually (or at all) pick over town, unless it was a choice between a shitty town role and a powerful scum role.

i prefer scum in setups where scum has a fair chance of winning but im no dummy.. Also i didnt get a scum option so it was an easy choice

I do know the answer, HD, but I figured it would be bad form to relent on the first person who had a go at me over it. Imagine you're playing in a game where more than one person may not have played with you before or may find your answer useful to developing a read, eh?

It's not really pertinent to the game.
Any attempt at asking players what alignment they prefer will just lead to WIFOM on what role they chose over the one they discarded.
