This information may be useful to anyone looking to reread this thread by player:

Look at the user number. Then go to a thread and type &userposts=#### at the end of it (where #### is the user number).

For example, I am user 1333. If I want to find all posts by myself in this thread, I type http://mafiascum.net/forum/viewtopic.ph ... posts=1333. It'll still only show 25 posts per page, but you will be able to flip through subsequent pages to look at all of that player's posts.

I have some setup commentary as I talked with lordy a lot before the game started...

The setup lordy first sent me (after he saw who all was signed up for his game and he was apparently panicking about whether his setup was good enough) was heavily themed. It was very amusing stuff.

The setup was similar, but with two full-time roleblockers and an

insane

cop.

I told him the flavor probably wouldn't be welcome. I also felt that the flavor created some confirmation-by-claim issues. The blockers would have practically expected each other (even though they weren't alternating). Townies had individual names and I don't think the scum would've been able to claim their own names very well.

So lordy decided to save all the flavor for some other game.

I also felt that two blockers was too much. I thought the idea of alternate blockers was cool, though. But this brought back the issue of blockers being able to back each other up. I told him it would be dumb and not very nice to scum to have two blockers who upon claiming have 0% chance of being lynched.

So I suggested the idea that one of the alternate blockers didn't know he was alternate, just that something was up. (I felt it would be bastard modding to not have some warning about this.) I was picky in particular about how lordy was wording the blocker role PMs (which I'm not sure if I possess in final form) and made him change one of them so that they had not even one word of description in common.

Feeling the cop would very likely claim as soon as he had info [and then be NKed immediately], we decided to use a sane cop instead. I don't remember whether it was a joint decision to have mod-confirmed sanity though. I was surprised when Ameliaslay told me she was confirmed sane.

As far as PJ's criticism that neither blocker belonged in a regular game... I can't take it too seriously since I know PJ wanted to torpedo this game, and also that PJ doesn't like regular games much anyway. I can agree that M4yhem I's role was iffy for a regular game, but I don't at all think that an even-day blocker is out of line. In my first mini regular I was an alternate doctor (who, in fact, didn't know I was alternate, just like M4yhem I; I had no knowledge of this limitation though).


I really was not seeing a scum win here (after the M4yhem II lynch). I was planning on remarking how everything might've been so different if TSQ had not been nightkilled, since he might have revealed his innocent result on mith.

Or perhaps remarking on Thok not being the right NK. But actually, I think it would've been very risky to not kill Thok. So no criticism.

4. I've seen Odd/Even roles used for confirming purposes at least once... I generally go the "can't be used on consecutive nights" route to avoid that, though this fix works as well. Thumbs up from me.

Hmm, but a "not on consecutive nights" mechanic, assuming it's written into the role pms, would help them to confirm each other also.

5. One thing that I was legitimately pissed off about was pj's talk of abandoning the game, and subsequent request for replacement. I felt that virtually eliminated any chance of getting pj/Mariyta lynched.

I think this kind of discussion (basically complaining or, if I can daydream, raving) is quite undesirable if the issue of abandonment etc. isn't actually on the table. Because one's expressed attitude towards the game could easily be a town tell (and I think it was in this case). So do we really want scum to have to feign irritation towards the game in-thread in order to look protown? This seems quite bad for the game generally...

6. I was lucky to get away with the M4yhem1 lynch as well. I am becoming convinced that a "don't talk to/about the mod in the thread" should be a standard rule.

I think I handled it reasonably well... I did tell M4yhem I privately that I would appreciate him replacing back in post-death. EDIT: By the way, in any of my games a player could feel safe in claiming that I told them something by PM and I would never contradict them.

PJ, your incorrect comments are annoying especially when they seem to criticize me personally.

The role-blockers didn't belong in this game.

Responded to this already. I consider this complaint rather disingenuous since you actually said in the game "The only reason I signed up for this game in the first place was because LML asked me too." It is well-known that you don't like regular games much, so it's hard for me to feel that lordy and I wronged you here.

The mod needed replacement, and many players expressed a want for the

game to end immediately

upon this maneuver, but KC commandeered it to continue regardless.

After I volunteered, I'm only aware of two people who kept wanting it to be abandoned: You and Relyte.

There had to be a modkill [punishment for town] for something the town had no control over on Day One.

This is absolutely false. I modkilled someone who picked up their prod PM but didn't act on it. I didn't modkill the one who didn't pick up the PM at all.

Edit: And note that this wasn't the first time for this player.

2. al_kohaulec evidently changed his tune when I took over. He wrote "Yay!" and "*hugs Kelly*".

3. The implications of two roleblockers were definitely foreseen, as you can see in my commentary on the setup.
