Thok is the current Title Fairy and is the sole judge on who gets a title and what it shall be. See the wiki for Title Fairy policy.

You may make suggestions for titles for people other than yourself here. I will be keeping a list of approved titles in the first post, as an easy reference for admins to update periodically.

I will ignore any request for a title for a person with less than 100 posts. Titles in general should be mafia related.

In general having three or more people show support for a title is sufficient for me to consider it. A post whose only purpose is to fifth or higher a title will be deleted. (Posts that continue discussion of the title, by either suggesting possible tweaks, or giving further reasons for the title will not be deleted.)

FA's is his own usage; if you've read a game with him in it (Harry Potter, Chrono Trigger, and Lost come to mind), you've likely come upon a situation where he's railed against somebody being a "flavor whore" who is paying more attention to role mechanics than what's actually happened in the game.

On a completely unrelated note, what would people think about a List of Titles wiki page? It would contain a list of all assigned titles with some sort of short explanation for each.

This would require a lot of work, since there's a bunch of old titles that a. need to be found, and b. need to be explained by people who were there.

Fortunately, we do have the old Title Fairy threads as resources.

The easiest way to get a title is to establish a good reputation on Mafiascum, perhaps by having interesting, impressive (or even infamous) performances in Mafia games. The easiest way not to get a title is to post in the Title Fairy thread saying, "Give me a title!" Given enough time, somebody will come up with a good title for you on their own.

(To be fair, I'm probably going to give you the title "Vampire scum" anyways, but I'm not in a hurry to do so.)

Given the recent forum drama, I have asked for and received moderating priviledges over this thread. In particular, I reserve the right to edit or delete a post if I feel it is out of line for this thread. I don't plan on using this power much, but I feel it's important that people are aware that I can edit their posts if I feel it is necessary. I'm not planning on editing posts that already are part of the thread (other than the first post, of course).

I also have a few suggestions for people posting in this thread.

1. Try to be polite to people. In particular, if newcomer self-nominates themself for a title, saying "Sorry, but we generally ignore self-nominations" is preferable to "Read the rules you noob" or making a sarcastic suggestion for a title.

2. Try to stay on topic. That said, if an interesting nontitle related discussion breaks out, I have no problem with it being split off into another thread.

3. Remember that if your name isn't mith, jeep, or Thok, then you don't have the ability to force somebody to have a title.

4. If somebody is insulted by a title suggestion for them, then it probably wasn't a good idea.

Note these are only suggestions, and I do not plan to rigorously enforce any of the above statements as hard or fast rules. But a post that follows the above suggestions is less likely to be editted or deleted by me then a post that ignores those suggestions.

Sort of happy with "Rantbuddy" for Patrick. Same with "Moo" for hasdgfas. Prefer "Accept it" to "HellGA" for JDodge (it fits him better IMHO and actually has something to do with MS.) Not fond of the MOS titles.

In general, people would be better off actually coming up with new titles or trying to explain why 85% of MS would care about a title rather than blandly going "Thirty-eighth" to whatever is the fad of the day.

Lastly, since when are negative titles not allowed? Thoks title isn't given to him for a warm and fuzzy reason. Titles are given to people for memorable events which are indicative of who a person is. If you don't think any of the suggestions for his title are valid in that respect, then fine, disagree on those grounds, but I think that it's silly for you to stand up here and expect that no negative titles can ever be made ever.

For the reference, there's a major difference between my title and Sarcastro's suggestion for hasdgfas, which is that my title had my implicit approval even before the nomination was made.

In addition, I don't particularly see how any of the non "Moo" titles are really an improvement for hasdgfas. Unless he's secretly a priest or a minister, I don't think "Holy Cow" is a good idea.

Part of me wants to make fun of all of this with the somewhat sly "Don't have a man, cow!"

I'm considering instituting a general policy that any post made for the sole purpose of Fifthing or higher a title will be deleted. A title that adds additional reasons for a title nomination, suggests alternative tweaks for a popular title nomination, or proposes a other titles for other people does not qualify; I'd only be deleting things like "\Fifth MOS", "\Sixth ibaesha", excetera. Basically the idea is to remove some of the ++ bandwagonning we've had in this thread and to improve the signal to noise ratio.
