Quickhammering is, almost without exception, a terrible choice for Town. Even if Buttons was scum/had managed to hit scum, you'd be going into D2 with virtually no information on interactions. Your hammer was way too early, had no reasoning, and benefited scum far more than it would have helped Town. You can't say that Buttons's two posts were reason enough to put the whole game on the line
on page one
.
I understand that at times being a little adventurous and reckless may create reactions that are useful for studying alignments. However, a cursory look at your games tells me that you're not experienced enough to do that and garner useful reactions that give you good, solid reads.
What you did was a big error, and it was very easy to see scum intent in it because there is
no
Town motivation to quickhammer on page 1. The Town can't blame Buttons for the vengekill, frankly, but they can blame you for bad play.
I apologize for the lecture; I usually don't do this (much) outside of newbie games. But that was a really terrible idea, and I believe you should learn why as soon as possible to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Quickhammering on page 1 (
less than 48 hours into the game
, when people had barely posted):
- makes you look like scum;
- will make you eat a vengekill;
- has a 50% chance of hitting Town, since you honestly can't have any solid and reasoned reads;
- at best, goes into D2 with virtually no information.
Think twice before doing stuff like that--and then don't do it.
