Still a newb, but here goes:

Sepultus, Lv36 Undead Rogue - Staghelm (PvE)
Sanguimagus, Lv24 Blood Elf Mage - Anub'arak (PvP)
Venator, Lv23 Tauren Hunter - Skullcrusher (PvP)
Medenux, Lv14 Troll Priest - Skullcrusher (PvP)

Haven't touched my Priest in a few weeks, though. Mostly play on my Rogue or sometimes my Hunter - my Mage has also become quite boring to play.

My Rogue is in a very small guild I randomly got invited to, my Mage is in a guild with some old IRL fans from NY, and my Hunter is in the same guild as two of my co-workers.

Why does this conversation sound familiar...

Anyways, updating my toons in case anyone cares:

Cinquedea - Lv47 Undead Rogue
Venator - Lv27 Tauren Hunter

Both on Skullcrusher (decided to server transfer my Rogue this evening rather than reroll). Hoping to hit 80 on my Rogue by February - I've managed to get 2 or 3 levels a day the last few days, so we'll see how that goes. I don't really touch my Mage or Priest anymore. Might make a Warrior after my Rogue hits 80 (or 85, depending when I buy Cata) and after my Hunter is a bit higher up.

I've gotta say, the Eastern Plaguelands is the most fun zone I've played in so far. Pretty awesome quests and I like the atmosphere. Also, I got Stood In The Fire while questing there. <_<

xRECKONERx wrote:I completely agree. Eastern Plaguelands... well, really, the entirety of the Undead leveling path, is fucking awesome. I just finished up Badlands last night on my Lvl 50 Undead Rogue, and so far I'm STILL loving every minute of it. My usual trick is to run 2-3 instances per leveling zone, and I'm questing with my boyfriend, therefore I rarely ever die, so questing takes no time at all. It's taking me, on average, ~45minutes per level right now. Though, once you hit 60, it becomes paaaaaaaainfully slow. The average time to level from 70-80 is now about 3 hours per level if you're doing constant questing/queuing, so enjoy the speedy levels while it lasts.
Eh, Silverpine and that general area was okay. EP was much more fun. Not sure where to go next, gotta look on the level flowchart or look at a command board. I would have been a level or two higher by now if today wasn't maintanence. Hope it's not extended, I wanna play just a little bit before work at 4. :(

I was doing dungeons about one every other level, except for a small period where I ran a bunch of dungeons for gear, probably why I took so long getting from 36 to 46 or so. Gonna keep doing that, it's decent gear and I can get about half my exp bar filled up. Questing is much faster, but instances are pretty fun.

Also, first post nitpick: under my name, you have my Hunter twice and my Rogue twice (had to be namechanged). And both the Hunter and Rogue are on Skullcrusher. <_<

Well, the command board gave me a quest to go to Searing Gorge, so I guess it's that next.

Also, Yahtzee finally reviews WoW.

So, I asked this question offsite and got a few good responses there, but what are some good addons that make things look/sound better and/or improve the UI?

Here's what I already have:
- Hear Kitty (gives sounds to combo point gains/uses)
- Gatherer (tracks herbs and other nodes)
- ErrorFilter (gets rid of redtext)

I was already recommended Recount, which I'll acquire soon (and then figure out how to work it <_<). I was also recommended Auctioneer, which I didn't like because it just made everything
more
complicated, at first glance anyways. As it says in the OP, I main a Rogue, but sometimes play on a Hunter or Mage. In case you'd like to recommend class-specific addons.

Thanks in advance.

(also, I just joined a guild called The Evil League Of Evil. Best guild name ever.)

I picked up:

Auctioneer (again)
Dominoes
Bagnon
Recount
InFlight Taxi Timer
Omen
RatingBuster
OmniCC

I might pick up more later if needed/wanted. Thanks again, guys. :D

My old friends that live up in NY play on Shadowmoon. They're Horde, though, and you're mostly Alliance on that server.

Leveled 52 to 60 in a day mostly through PvP (Call To Arms Alterac Valley). Took about ten hours of playtime, too. Now I'm at 62 - Outland is pretty cool so far, I don't see how people hate it. Also, flying is FUCKING AWESOME, especially on my Celestial Steed (I didn't buy it; a friend gave it to me for Christmas. She's awesome. <3).

Gonna go roll a Troll DK now. I've been meaning to try out tanking, yet I don't want to necessarily level something all the way up again yet. If I like playing as a DK, I might roll one on Lightning's Blade (or maybe something else like a Shaman, idk). [Edit] Name's Zydros.

Update on characters:
Cinquedea - Lv62 Rogue (Skullcrusher)
Venator - LV24 Hunter (Skullcrusher)
Zydros - Lv55 Death Knight (Skullcrusher)

The other two characters I had I either don't touch (Mage) or deleted (Priest). In case Reck ever updates the first post. :>

P.S. - Dominoes and the other addons are working perfectly for me. Very good recs. :D

So the only classes we seem to be missing to complete the list on Lightning's Blade are Warrior,
Death Knight
, and Shaman. Right?
I FEEL UNLOVED AND IGNORED

[Edit] I can roll a Warrior or Shaman and reroll my Troll DK back on Skullcrusher AGAIN (deleted it because I didn't want two "Zydros"s) if DH really really wants the DK, but I'd prefer not to do that. :(

Or we can both be a DK, idc. You can also re-roll a Warrior since your old one is just Lv9 anyways and still keep just one of every class per faction? :D

I'm scared to queue a randadungeon as tank on my DK because I know I'm gonna suck. <_<

DPS isn't too bad as an Ass Rogue though. Set up poisons, Mutilate -> Slice and Dice -> Rupture/Envenom -> Envenom/Rupture -> Backstab at 35% HP or lower. Maybe throw in an Expose Armor or something if it's a huge HP boss or something.

So what's the basic DK Blood rotation at Lv58 for tanking? I'm assuming run in, Plague Strike -> Pestilence (if multiple targets) -> Blood Boil -> Death/Heart Strike? Or if diseases aren't necessary, I can just run in and Blood Boil -> Death/Heart Strike, repeat as necessary. Completely clueless here.

Or should I PvE/DPS till higher levels and better abilities?

Blood tanking is priority based.
1. Diseases up
2. Rune Strike
3. Death Strike
4. Make sure Scarlet Fever is up if not Plague Strike, Blood Boil
5. Heart Strike
6. Icy Touch
Gotcha. *takes note*

That's my hydra, created for myself and Fugitive (friend of mine, big NMH fan). I forgot to switch accounts. <_<

Also, Warrior/Paladin might be a good starting class.

Got to 58 on my DK. Almost 59. I really don't wanna level two characters through Outland, so I might just instance my DK through 60-70. Leveling up Mining and Herbalism from 0 sure is fun, though. :|

At least I've made a few hundred gold in the process. Wish I could get Goldthorn though - haven't checked LB's prices, but it sells for 60g per 5 over on Skullcrusher. Not a bad herb to farm.

Haven't been able to play much with work (Wed night, Thurs night, Fri night, Saturday double shift, tomorrow double), but I should have off from Monday until Friday night. Gonna spend at least one of those days grinding WoW stuffs.

Lastly, and this is probably old, but this video shows why Rogues are awesome.

3-4 of my coworkers play WoW, and a good group of my friends do as well, although on a different server (or several).

I mostly play when I have nothing else to do - I'm not gonna be the type to get super-addicted and drop real life things for WoW or anything. One of my friends dropped out of college so he could keep up with raids or something, and another friend is moving to New Mexico to meet some guy she met over WoW. I'm not gonna let myself get that addicted. <_<

So I finally hit 63 on my Rogue. Took a while because I'm forced to grind and quest through Outland so I can build Guild Rep so I can get heirlooms and other cool shit. =/

I'll be playing my DK later on. Farming Herbalism and Mining woooooooo. Least I got into a high level-ish guild to leech perks off of.

Leveling Mining and Herbalism at low-levels (up to 50/60 in each I think) versus grinding quests in Hellfire. I dunno which is more boring. :(

Totally gonna dungeon through on my DK, whenever I get the balls to queue up as a tank. <_< He's currently working on Mining/Jewelcrafting/Archaeology because those are fun timesinks and I need gold anyways (which I can make a bit of by Mining).

My Rogue is 64.5 or so, just hit Shattrath City (had like two boss-quests left, just decided to skip them). Obviously siding with the Scryers - not only is it the "Horde side", but Ass Rogues can benefit moreso from the perks of siding with them. So yeah.

If I had
a dollar
ten gold for every time I logged in to my Rogue on Skullcrusher's Thrallmar, and Alliance were raiding the place, I'd be rich. So glad to be done with that place... for now.

I could have sworn I sent a friend request to ya, tans. You refuse? :(

So I'm 66, almost 66.5. Apparently I don't have much left to do in the forest - there's three quests I could do, two of which give me okay gear, but I'm really lazy. I'm gonna fly over to the next area soon.

In other news, I sold a bunch of Outland herbs and made like 500g. Then I spent about 600g buying other herbs to level my Alchemy. Slightly stupid move, but I still profited for a while. <_< Fuck Alchemy, I can't get any new recipes from the trainer and I'm at like 347 and only have greens which take forever for me to get a point off of. And buying the herbs off the AH is expensive... and I don't wanna gather... /cry

Might level my DK tonight due to apathy/rage. Or at least grind more professions. I'm having too much fun just doing that. :P

Oh, and Cayke, on Skullcrusher: did you put Netherweave Cloth up as just-bid for that low on purpose? You can get a LOT higher than that... I saw your auction when I was selling some of my own. :P

Nothing built in on your computer?
Nope. :(

It's alright though, the last few weeks have been pretty decent money-wise for me, so I should have enough spending money to pick one up. I'll probably order one offline by the end of the weekend, so I'll have it by the end of the week. :D

Picked up a cheap Logitech headset at WalMart. I'll d/l Vent when I get off of work.

I also got into a conversation about WoW with the FYE cashier today (my authenticator is attached to my wallet). She said she plays on Skullcrusher, Horde... shame I forgot to ask for her character name or email. Or number, but I don't have the balls for that, so. :P

Anyways, Pie on Vent tonight maybe. Yay.

Installed Vent.

Now just gimme a few hours to figure this shit out...

[Edit] Tutorial makes it pretty simple. Just checking: vent25.gameservers.com:4210 ... that's vent25.gameservers.com as the hostname with 4210 as the port, right? <_<

So um, tans has been bugging me to play my DK and a RL friend wants me to roll a Goblin Shaman with her because she rolled a Goblin Warrior and I was looking to try out healing anyways.

Sooooo, I'm going to take a break from maining my Rogue and take turns MOSTLY between leveling my DK and leveling my new Shaman. This also gives Cayke the chance to catch up to me on Skullcrusher, so everybody wins! :D

Me and Cayke are at 67 (almost 68) and 66 (maybe almost 67?) respectively.

But I can help with a quest or two if I'm not busy leveling my DK or Shaman. Maybe. :D

Cool. So I can play my Shaman/DK while Cayke's Priest gets to 69 (urge to make immature joke rising), then I can go back to playing my Rogue to catch back up and/or surpass Cayke.

Woo.

On another note, I really should have remembered that it's Tuesday before I set my alarm so I could wake up early and play WoW. AGAIN. Sigh.

[Edit] Wait, there's no maintenance today? What?

Someone, on the subject of healers:
Currently it's looking like:
Holy Paladin >Holy Priest > Disc Priest > Resto Druid > Bandages > Health Potion > Resto Shaman

AFTER the patch I predict it'll look more like:
Holy Paladin > Holy Priest = Resto Druid > Disc Priest > Bandages > Resto Shaman = Health Potion
And I just rolled a Resto Shaman. ;_;

Well, pops, I like doing healing and DPS, so Shaman works. I random'd two dungeons under healer and didn't do too bad either.

First one had a Druid tank, who died twice right out of the gate. After that, though, it was smooth sailing. Second dungeon had a Pally, whom I barely even needed to heal or cast a buff on. I was pretty much totem support + DPS the entire dungeon.

From what I've read, DKs and Paladins are the easiest tanks to heal, or a Warrior if they're played very well. Druids seem most annoying to heal.

I leveled Mining on my DK. Yay. Now I have to wait for some Mithril Bars to sell before I can level my JC because I'm too lazy to farm the ores and prospect for gems! <_<

Also goddamn Druid tanks are squishy.

I looted a nice BoE dagger ("of the Bandit", too!) off something in a dungeon and it didn't go into my bag even though I had room. ;_;

On a better note, I did get these. I just need the full set now...

[Edit] Got to 68 on the Rogue. All I have left to do in Outland is grind some dungeons for my gear set I want (optional) and play through one certain dungeon for my Elixir Mastery quest, and I'm heading out to Northrend. :D

DK is leveling Herbalism for a bit and running Outland dungeons.

Shaman is... leveling. *shrug*

Remember to pick Lightning's Blade as your server and Horde as your faction, and you're good to go from there. Pick whatever race/class that appeals to you.

As for your professions:
Mining is best paired with Blacksmithing, Engineering, or Jewelcrafting.
Skinning is best paired with Leatherworking.
Herbalism is best paired with Alchemy or Inscription.
Tailoring is best paired with Enchanting.

Or, you can pick two of Mining/Herbalism/Skinning, sell your products on the Auction House for money, and switch one of them to a crafting profession later on.

Tailoring is technically a crafting profession, but it mostly runs off of cloth that drops from enemies, so it's alright to pick this and Enchanting. Enchanting is leveled up by gathering items from destroyed "green"-leveled or higher weapons/armors and can make a lot of money later on. It might be a bit of a pain to level, especially if you pick something other than Tailoring with it.

tl;dr: My suggestions: pick Mining + [Skinning/Herbalism] or [Blacksmithing/Engineering/Jewelcrafting]. Or whatever you want, really.

OMG NIKANOR

HI

ROLL SOMETHING ON LB WITH US

ALSO WE NEED MORE REALIDS

I'LL ADD EVERYONE LATER

---

Now that that's out of my system, do we have an Alchemist that has at least a skill of 60? I need a small favor. Kinda want a stack of Swiftness Potions. I'll provide the mats (20 vials/Briarthorn/Swiftthistle) if you could make them for me. I'll even tip 5g for the assistance. :D

I could ask on tradechat, but I figured I'd ask here first.

If anyone has the skill but needs the recipe, I'll buy it for you in lieu of the tip.

If we find something we can all agree on, that'd work. I did smirk at "Non-Confirmed Masons" and "Confirmed Innocents" though. IVG(N) is also okay.

I *could* do a lowbie dungeon, but there's a problem with having a 61 DK when all you guys are either 85 or less than 30. :(

If I wasn't busy with my Shaman/Rogue/DK already, I'd roll a Pally or Warri or something.

I have my main on Skullcrusher, a RL friend wanted me to level with her so I rolled a Shaman, and my Troll DK is on LB.

[Undocumented 4.0.6 Patch Notes] - if anyone's interested.

Yay for farming herbs. If anyone needs anything Alchemy-wise, let me know (even if it'll be less than 300 or so till I head to Outland).

Yeah, we're on Skullcrusher. Buuuuut pops also said he was on Skullcrusher so yay. I'm at 69, almost halfway to 70. I think Cayke is around there too, not 100% sure on that though.

We could still run a BC dungeon or two. I should be on for most of the evening (from about 3PM EST on). Tomorrow I work from 9:30 to 9-10 PM though, so no WoW for me tomorrow. :(

Two questions:

1) For healers, it's Int > Haste > Spirit > Stam > Crit/Hit/etc, right? Or am I close?
2) Why does WoWHead have a giant "PLAY RIFT BETA" background? =/

SHAMANS GETTING 15% BUFF TO PURIFICATION
Blizzard wrote:Since the release of patch 4.0.6, we’ve been keeping an eye on healers and how they are performing and are currently in the process of making some additional adjustments.

Priests

The cost of Power Word: Shield is being increased by 33%. While we wanted Discipline priests to be able to utilize this spell more often and with better results, we also did not want it to be the main spell (and often the only spell) used while in groups. We don’t find this to be a particularly compelling playstyle and have found that it encourages players to avoid using other spells such as Penance. We believe that using a shield in a tight moment is totally appropriate, but we don’t want it to be incredibly efficient to do so with more frequency than that.

We realize that by making Power Word: Shield slightly more expensive for Discipline priests to cast that it might cause Holy priests to avoid using it. To that end, we are adding mana savings into the Body and Soul talent. The tooltip will not reflect this change until a future patch, however. Ideally, Holy priests should not notice much of a change to the Power Word: Shield costs.

Shaman

We are also applying a hotfix for Purification for the Restoration shaman passive from 10% to 25%. We think that shaman healing per second is not as competitive with other healers and while we hoped to bring down Holy priest and Holy paladins (in particular) in 4.0.6, which we did, shaman still appear to be behind. In this case, it is simply easier to buff Restoration shaman rather than nerf everyone else or rebalance the encounters.

In Addition- Restoration Druids and Restoration Shaman

We agree with the sentiment among some players that Restoration druids and Restoration shaman are lacking in the healing cooldown department. The shaman buff and Power Word: Shield adjustment above should bring all healers reasonably close in terms of throughput. The decision on who to bring then might end up being dictated by the strong cooldowns offered by paladins or priests. This isn’t the kind of thing we can address via a hotfix, but it is something we are looking at for the next major content patch.

Patch 4.1 Info

Renowned and Illustrious Guild Tabards grant 100% and 50% (respectively) increases in guild rep. Fuck yeah.

As for class changes... (disclaimer: I may not be 100% right when I say something is buffed or nerfed because I don't know much about some of the classes <.<)

Unholy DKs are nerfed slightly.
Feral Druids buffed slightly.
Hunters buffed (thank you, JD <_<).
Slight nerf to Frost/Arcane Mages, slight buff to Fire.
Holy Pallys buffed slightly, the other two specs nerfed slightly.
Another Disc Priest nerf -
Power Word: Shield now costs 34% of base mana, up from 25%. Now lasts 15 sec, down from 30 sec.
And other nerfs in the other specs.
Rogues get a major buff (!) -
Stealth now has a 4 sec cooldown. Apparently no longer reduces your speed.
Think this might be Subtlety-only though.
Shamans get a buff to a previously useless spell -
Fire Nova now has a 40 yards range, up from 30 yards. Cooldown reduced from 10 sec to 4 sec. Now Ignites your Flame Shock spell on any nearby enemies, causing each of them to emit a wave of flames that deals 647 to 724 Fire damage to every other enemy within 10 yards.

Warlocks get a shitload of things changed for them, I'm not even going to bother posting them all here.
Arms Warriors get a lot of buffs.

So, problem. For the past week or so I've been having login issues. My pass/auth won't work, then I'll try it 5 more times and it will work.

Now, I've tried tons of different authenticator codes and have been trying to log in for a good twenty-thirty minutes and it still will not let me. I can't even log in to battle.net support or anything - my email and pass are saved on my comp, but after I input my authenticator code, it says login failed.

I've ran multiple virus, malware, etc. scans since I started having this problem, but I don't have a virus or keylogger. And I don't use a universal password, so I don't think I've been hacked...

The fuck is going on? I'm thinking somehow it's a problem with my authenticator, but... idk.

Raise Ally has been redesigned to be a battle resurrection, analogous to Rebirth. It is instant cast, but costs 50 Runic Power to use, and has a 10-minute cooldown. It shares the same global battle resurrection cap with Rebirth and Soulstone.

Hey, I'm gaining rested EXP the less I play, so I'm leveling slower by real-life time, but faster by ingame time. So shush.

- Fingers of Frost bonus damage applied to Ice Lance has been increased to 25%, up from 15%.

I picked a good time to roll a Frost Mage.

You know, I chipped in for a bank tab, have been making pots and such on request (namely cayke and her mana potions), have farmed mats for people (ex - dram's Motes that took for-freaking-ever), have mailed random useful gear/potions to those that could use it... Hell, our guild name was one of my suggestions. Do you see me asking for power or throwing a fit about other people having a higher rank than I?

No. Because not only is this just a game, but we're supposed help each other out, as a guild. We're supposed to not only help, but communicate with one another. That's key. And that's all this seems to be - a miscommunication.

JD, I see where you're coming from. If you had a problem, though, you could have spoken up instead of threatening to quit the guild. I don't have anything against you, but I do have to say this - if you want to leave, leave. No one's stopping you. Also, if you want this to be a full democracy, why not let our recruits have some input too? You've failed to mention them.

Concerning the guild architecture or whatever the fuck, I gave no input because I don't think I'm that great a player, so my opinion doesn't matter as much. I do like the idea of higher ranks acting as "teachers" to the lower ranks. I'd even offer to "sign up" for a council position, but again, I lack self-confidence/skill.

Concerning the guild tabard, I like the yellow. But if we change it, I suggest either white, black or blue. Just my two copper.

But basically, we're all adults here (right?). Let's talk things out. As long as we have a website, I fail to see why it matters who makes it. Everyone has equal input regardless of rank (Reck offering to step down to appease JD proves this), so everyone just take a chill pill.

First tans and now this - I'm tired of all this drama. =/

Amazon has all three for $107.

Or you could do what I did and wait until Blizzard's anniversary in like November and get Vanilla/BC/Wrath for $20 and then spend $40ish for Cata.

Also I signed up for the website or whatever, you should link that in the topic so I don't waste five minutes on google.

I might not be able to raid tonight until 10:30 to 11ish. Some friends wanted me to play L4D2 and one of them only has XBL every other week. And since I declined to play last night because of the MC run... yeah.

Even if I somehow don't make the run tonight though, I only work lunch shifts this week. So I'm off by 4PM EST and home by 5 or 6 at the absolute latest. So I'm down for any other night (except maybe Sunday, might be picking up a shift).

MMOchampion wrote:"Q: Can we see gear won via need rolls become soulbound? - Lorinall (NA/ANZ)

A: Yes. We plan on implementing a system where winning an item via Need (when using the Dungeon Finder Need Before Greed loot system) will make a BoE item soulbound. We hope to have this working for the 4.2 patch.

To expand on that idea in case it’s not obvious, we don’t think players should be able to claim certain loot drops based on their class if their only intent is to sell the item. If you want to use the item yourself, awesome, go ahead and roll Need on it and you’ll get preference over players who can’t use that armor type. But if all you want to do is run to the Auction House, then everyone should have equal dibs."
Cool.

Dungeon Finder: Call To Arms!
Blizzard wrote:In patch 4.1 we'll be introducing Dungeon Finder: Call to Arms, a new system intended to lower queue times.
Call to Arms will automatically detect which class role is currently the least represented in the queue, and offer them additional rewards for entering the Dungeon Finder queue and completing a random level-85 Heroic dungeon.

Any time the Dungeon Finder queue is longer than a few minutes for level-85 Heroics, the Call to Arms system kicks in and determines which role is the least represented. In the case of tanking being the least represented role, the "Call to Arms: Tanks" icon will display in the Dungeon Finder UI menu where class roles are selected, and will also display on the UI when the queue pops and you are selected to enter a dungeon. Regardless of your role, you'll always be able to see which role currently has been Called to Arms, if any.

Call to Arms is meant to lower wait times by offering additional rewards for queuing as the currently least represented role. To be eligible for the additional rewards you must solo queue for a random level-85 Heroic in the role that is currently being Called to Arms, and complete the dungeon by killing the final boss.
Every time you hit these requirements (there is no daily limit) you'll receive a goodie bag that will contain some gold, a chance at a rare gem, a chance at a flask/elixir (determined by spec), a good chance of receiving a non-combat pet (including cross faction pets), and a very rare chance at receiving a mount.
The pets offered come from a wide variety of sources, and include companions like the Razzashi Hatchling, Cockatiel, and Tiny Sporebat, but the mounts are those specifically only available through dungeons (not raids), like the Reins of the Raven Lord from Sethekk Halls, Swift White Hawkstrider from Magister's Terrace, and Deathcharger's Reins from Stratholme.

This system is meant to address the unacceptable queue times currently being experienced by those that queue for the DPS role at max level. The long queue times are, of course, caused by a very simple lack of representation in the Dungeon Finder by tanks, and to some extent healers. We don't feel the tanking and healing roles have any inherent issues that are causing the representation disparity, except that fulfilling them carries more responsibility. Understandably, players prefer to take on that responsibility in more organized situations than what the Dungeon Finder offers, but perhaps we can bribe them a little. While this system gives tanks and healers something extra, the incentive is being provided so that we can help players in the DPS role get into more dungeons, get better gear, and continue progressing.

While the gold, gems, flasks, and elixirs are OK incentives, we knew we needed something more substantial. We had briefly considered Valor Points and epics, but decided that wouldn't be working toward the goal of helping DPS players progress, and ultimately wouldn't keep tanks and healers in the Dungeon Finder system for very long. We settled on pets and dungeon-found mounts as they’re cosmetic/achievement items that players tend to try to get on their own, so why not change that up and offer them a chance to get some of those elusive pets and mounts in a way that also helps other players? Even if they don't get a pet or mount, or get one they already have, the gold and other goodies still feel rewarding enough that it won't feel like a waste of effort.

We think it's a pretty solid incentive to get tanks and healers queuing, give max-level players another way to collect the pets and mounts they so desire, and above all, to improve wait times for DPS players sitting in queues. In the case of lower level dungeons, it's actually not uncommon for DPS to be the least represented role, and so if this new system works out and we're pleased with the results, we may consider applying this same mechanic to lower level dungeons as well.
As a Frost DK, I'm okay with this.

[Edit] Wait, which role and not which class? ... Fuck.
[Edit2] Well, at least it should lessen the queue anyways. <_<

Selling the mats seems to be cheaper than making the flasks 80% of the time anyways. <_<

In other news, I can't log in. asdfghm

Also, I was thinking of rolling a druid (whee alts) to try out tanking and stuff, once I get enough JP for some heirloom shoulders to make things easier. Also gives me something to do while I'm gearing up. Alternatively, I can run random normals and try and get a set of tank gear for my DK (needing for offspec usually seems to be alright), but that'll take a while, plus the whole "learning to tank at level cap" thing... yeah.

And thanks for the EJ link. I guess gathering a spare set of gear for tanking wouldn't -hurt- anyways, right?

Sounds like a good idea, but I'd like at least half a set of tanking gear (bare minimum) before I attempt it. :P

The Escapist wrote:Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to kill a single foe in World of Warcraft to hit level 85.

Fighting enemies is a big part of World of Warcraft. It even has "war" right there in the name, so you'd think whipping out a sword or spell from time to time to roast an evil turtle would be a requirement. Alas, it isn't, as a player recently hit the current level max of 85 without killing a single virtual foe.

Night Elf Druid Everbloom of the Feathermoon server pulled the feat off by only engaging in gathering professions and exploring, which both offer experience points of their own. She, who may or may not actually be a he, took on mining, herbalism, and archaeology, in addition to traveling to every possible nook and cranny of the game's world. Everbloom wrote on the Blizzard forums that she's been playing World of Warcraft since the day it was released back in 2004, and still discovered new landmarks in her quest.

Everbloom hit level 85 after dying just 25 times, though she absorbed 3,000,000 damage along the way too. She says she chose a Night Elf Druid for its healing abilities, rooting abilities (which can freeze enemies in place), and flight transformation.

If you're skeptical, a visit to Everbloom's profile clearly proves that she has no kills, and only completed 1 quest by accident when she opened a letter that came in the (virtual) mail. She plans to do it again, but without opening her mail this time.

Almost have myself geared in 333+. Need a relic (which I'm saving my VP for) and some new bracers (which I can run HoO or BRC heroic for, or hunt for a rare spawn in Deepholm). Then I just need to grind rep for my shoulder enchant. Here's my armory.

Stuff I know I need to fix:
- Slightly better enchants for chest/cloak(?) and shoulder enchant.
- Need a non-tanking belt.
- Like I said above, new relic/bracers.

Aside from that, I think I'm doing alright.
AGar wrote:Oh, iPie, if you're still interested in trying out tanking, I'll see if I can make you some gear for it.
I currently have a belt, shoulders (meh?), hands, legs (meh), boots (meh), and a trinket. Anything else is welcome (better quality legs/boots might help too).

I probably should have started saving tanking gear sooner. <_<

[Edit] I can also get Hyjal's tanking neck (will be exalted soon for the cloak), Dragonmaw's tanking helm, and might be able to get leg replacements with a little more Earthen Ring rep (as well as new boots with Dragonmaw rep but I just hit Revered, so.).

So I still need a chest, bracers, and two rings (being that I can craft a tanking trinket with Alchemy as well). That's not too bad. o_o

Well... fuck.

After a double-check on WoWhead, yeah, my only other options would be trying to get this or buying a piece from the JP vendor. :<

Well, being that I've been spamming your mailbox with greens, I don't feel bad asking. There's three enchants I need for my DPSing gear at the moment, if you can make
any
of them I would love you:
Cloak - +65 Crit
Chest - +20 All Stats
Bracers - 50 Strength

I'll also take Gloves +50 Haste and Boots +50 Mastery, although they're not extremely high priority since I already have 346's for both of those gear slots. :P

And if you'd like some gold in return (also I have a small small handful of possible mats for the enchants) lemme know.

That reminds me - hey tans, you play a Blood DK. What're the best enchants for tanking? Checked the EJ thread, didn't see any mention of enchants though. I'd assume stacking Stam/Dodge/Mastery, but *shrug*.

Woo, I got a non-tanking belt. Can I get a buckle please, AGar? :3

I also caused a wipe on (heroic) GB's third boss and left group instead of releasing spirit by accident. And didn't realize I could have used this ring for my tanking set. Oops. :x

Sooooo I tried tanking tonight finally. Tol'vir of course. And, for being in half DPS gear and having a newbhealer... I didn't do too bad apparently. :D

Only 5 more tank pieces too, once I pick up the Hyjal cloak (hit Exalted during the run). Woo!

Oh, and we should have some scheduled heroics/normals running night or something. I miss the giant vent conversations like when we did those old raids (even though I don't participate... and now my mic is being dicks).

Right. So.

Kind of lost internet for a while - the only way I'm able to go on now is via a mobile broadband thing, which isn't very fast, and it gets slower after 2.5gigs of data are downloaded. So I won't be able to run WoW as effeciently...

Plus if I cancel this and XBL it pays for this mobile broadband, so... I'm sorry to say that I'm temporarily /out of Modus. :(

I'll be back whenever I get proper internet again. Promise. I was kinda bored of the constant grinding anyways tbh.

Yeah, I know I'll be able to come back to it. Also, if I do manage to get my normal internet back in the next few days, I have until May 8th to keep playing.

And if I let it sit for at least 90 days, I'll let someone here know so they can gimme a Scroll of Res. :D

So I finagled a faster connection, but I'm still cutting my WoW off for a bit to save money and stop myself from being kind of addicted. <_<

But I have just over a week, so I might be on occasionally sometime next week, probably gonna check out the new dungeons and try and grab as much tank gear as I can (still at like 10/16 or 11/16 iirc).

I might be re-subbing sooner than I thought. Doing alright money-wise and a friend is really harassing me to play with her (on Skullcrusher, so I may not be on my DK too often).

Not 100% sure if I actually will or not yet, but just figured I'd mention that I'm very tempted to re-sub.

Luckily all you get from LE Xmute spec is the occasional (4 or so) proc of a random Volatile. Even without the proc though, if my memory serves correctly and the AH prices haven't changed dramatically, you're looking at roughly 250-350g per xmute depending on AH prices and how many Volatile you get.

I do love you guys. Hell, I miss the old raids/heroic running with Vent and stuff; that's one thing that sucks about GW, there doesn't seem to be real raids or anything, plus I'm nowhere near endgame content anyways.

And I still have a RL friend bugging me to resub and play on my Shaman (she made a Goblin Warri and myself a Shammy so we could level together, but only got to ~60 before she temp-unsubbed).

But GW is so much fun. :<
