Actually it's not really the playerlist, but here's the people who said /in for next. Some have already joined this game anyway, and some may not be around, and it doesn't look like you're in need of more players... but here they are.

Strongly agree with all of those except 5. I think that a hasty sketch can have as much comedy potential as an artistic masterpiece. I think that ultimately, its nice to have a mixture of both in the game.

Erm, I've been asked to choose a starting sentence. Maybe you just got given someone else's sentence already?
But I still think that it'd be nice if everyone gets to do a starting sentence, although I guess 40 chains could be something of an administrative nightmare, if that's not what you were planning on doing.

I already regret choosing my rubbish sentence, I hope it turns out okay. Want to draw something!
Also RC, I'm V/LA for about a week from tomorrow but I'll catch up as soon as I get back, I hope you can just put me on a slow moving chain, or skip my place or something.

Maybe too late, but I agree with CDB's answer. I'd say it really comes down to whether the things you add are still part of the original sentence, or not.
I also have a couple of moral dilemmas about the game:
1. If the sentence I receive contains reference to a person/film/product that I haven't heard of before, should I look up that thing so that I know what it is, or just draw whatever comes to mind (which may be a struggle)?
2. What about if I have already heard of the thing, is it appropriate to look up a reference picture then?

Am I the only one happy for people to slap things together? If we're playing in real life I would't give people more than a minute to draw. I figure this is the same. Well it's not, in that I won't stop anyone who wants to spend a lot of time on their drawing, but I also don't have a problem with people who don't.

This.
I really think the payoff won't be as great if you release in dribs and drabs throughout the game.
If you absolutely need to do an early release, have it be 20 threads, and then another 20 at the end.

Or just pass their turn to someone else to finish instead? With 40 people, I'm assuming that not everyone is going to feature in every chain, so there would be room to maneuvre; if someone is taking too long, advertise in thread and whoever replies first can take that link instead. Or just pull in more replacements.

Well my average turnaround is more like 20 hours, but that's because the PMs usually arrive with me in the middle of the night, and I can't draw until the following evening.
Charlie should start a new round of EPYC, with just me, Faraday and KittyMo.

I dunno - mine have come in fits and starts. Overall I'm assuming we'll each contribute 12 times; so far I've done 7, so that actually fits well with Charlie saying it's ~75% complete. If you haven't done 7 already then I expect you'll get a glut at the end.
On another subject: I've changed my mind on the releasing of chains. Earlier I was arguing that they should all be saved at the end, but now I think it would be nice to have half now, and half later. Otherwise, 40 chains at once will kind of blur into each other.
But ultimately it is up to Charlie to do it how he thinks best.

I like crappy drawings the best. And I still think I fall into that camp.
Is there a precedent for running a Mish Mash game on a marathon day? Should it go in Mish Mash or in the marathon forum? Or maybe it should just be run on a regular day, it'd probably be possible to get a group to do a single chain within a 24 hour period or something like that? Hmm...
It'd be good if there was a site like isketch or something for EPYC.

Well - I agree with mith's judgement that it belongs in Mish Mash, not marathon - and I think maybe then it's best to do it on a different weekend, actually. I rarely have time to play more than 2 or 3 marathon mafia games as it is, and it'd be a shame to dilute that further.
My feeling is that with a 5 - 30 min turnaround, it'd probably be possible to do single chains of EPYC impromptu at any weekend. A full game
miiiiight
be possible, but it'd mean everyone online continuously for ~5 hours probably, what with administration. Whereas if you did just one, you could easily advertise in thread for anyone available at that moment to do the next link. But idk.

I don't know if anyone even is any more. Well it used to be Porochaz, me, Moospiker and CDB. I've changed my mind, and... who cares what the others think.

mith wrote:I was just going to throw them up with the previous game's chains. I can't give you upload access, but you can send them to me and I'll upload them there (or I can grab them after you upload them elsewhere, whichever is easier).
I think this is the top for hosting chains, whether you do them all in one go or not. Means I have an easy place to go when I want to laugh at stuff, without comments and whatnot cluttering it up. A single locked thread in Mish Mash would be the second best option. If people want to comment they can do that here.

I had a dream last night that RC started releasing chains by editing them into our old posts at random. It was a really annoying way to find them, but they were still funny as hell. One had a bicycle in it.

I'm tempted actually. I've been thinking of running it for 12-15 players, with 15 minute deadlines and quick replacements where necessary. Would that work? Would anyone be interested? When would be the best time for it, during this weekend or next; Saturday or Sunday?

If someone is drawing hardcore porn or something, then maybe I'd consider censoring; but I agree that it's not really necessary to keep a rabbit from playing with a tampon.

I've just done my picture, to get it out the way. It's been waiting for over a week, and I just haven't been in the mood to put time into a drawing. I know some people like pictures with time and effort. But this definitely isn't. Sorry.

Woo!
BTW, is it possible to put something at the top and bottom of each wiki page to make it possible to navigate from chain to chain, without going back to the main EPYC page? I don't mind doing the legwork if someone can tell me the right piece of code.

zoraster: I so wish I'd seen that message an hour ago (although I was eating dinner). Would definitely have liked to play in that game.. reading through it now.

Gah I'm actually really busy this weekend. Maybe Sunday evening if I'm lucky.
What I think might speed things up is not having to draw the picture on your own computer/by hand and then upload it. Does anyone know of a good website where you could draw the pictures on a web interface and it will host them for you with a shareable link?

Yeah, I think quicker is better. Maybe be more brutal with replacements, or dead-ending chains, or whatever. Well you probably don't need to dead-end if there are 40 players and only 13 steps in each chain. Don't let anyone sit on an assignment for more than 3 days. I might run this at some point if anyone still wants to play.

Huh... I totally agree that the tampon rabbit shouldn't have been censored, but copy-paste seems against the spirit of the game to me.
I'd much prefer to see someone's attempted rendition of Mulder and Scully - or, for that matter, the god's groin/crossroads combo - because part of the game is that our drawings don't always look like what they're intended to. If you just stick in a perfect photo of anything you can't draw, then part of the game is lost.
I didn't actually figure out we were all drawing the same thing with the monocle and the manhole! That was good. Also, Xalxe was pretty much spot on with the caption competition.
