Most people in the developed world use some sort of vehicle every day. After all, you can only get so far so fast on foot. Many people use cars. Some people use bikes. Some people don't drive, and someone else drives them instead—the bus driver, for example.

Welcome to Streetopolis, an urban city bustling with transportation users. It has some of the lowest commute times in the country. Accidents happen, but in Streetopolis they're less frequent than in other cities. Most people in town have hybrids now, and the public transportation system is the city's largest source of income.

This traffic utopia has become less of one, though. Some people have decided to break every traffic law on the books. They drive well over the speed limit; they cut people off about every minute and a half; they even run people over. The residents of Streetopolis fear for their lives.

Will the traffic network ever be safe again?

RULES
  1. This is a closed setup, which means the only roles you will know in advance are your own and that of any other player I mention in your role PM. All other role information is secret, including how many players with a certain role exist and even if the role exists in the first place. Yes, a game with absolutely no vanilla townies is possible. It's been done before.

  2. To vote for a player, bold the word "vote" followed by said player's name, e.g.
    Vote: StrangerCoug
    . As long as I can tell to whom you are referring, spelling does not count and I will accept abbreviated or otherwise shortened forms of the name of the vote's recipient. If you change your mind about whom you want lynched, you must bold an unvote, preferably in the format
    Unvote: StrangerCoug
    . You may also
    Vote: No Lynch
    , unvoted the same way as before.

  3. A majority of votes is required for a lynch, even at deadline. Once a lynch has been decided, it is final and further votes and unvotes do not count for the current day. If deadline is reached with no player having enough votes for a lynch, the day ends in an automatic No Lynch.

  4. Once you die, I'll allow one "bah" post that doesn't contain any game-related content if you wish to make it, but you must thereafter stop posting in the game. Said "bah" post is the only post a dead player may make during twilight. Living players may continue to talk during twilight as long as they follow all of the rules.

  5. You are not forced to like each other, but the fact that you badly want so and so offed does not give you the right to insult him or her. Please keep your hatred of people or groups thereof to yourself. Profanity is not in and of itself banned, but if it gets out of hand, it falls under this rule.

  6. Do not hide text or otherwise hinder its readability by using spoiler tags, invisible or encrypyed text, etc. You may, however, post in any color that can be easily read against the forum background other than
    purple
    . (I know it sounds arbitrary to forbid a specific color, but I'm saving my favorite color for mod use since I am the mod :P)

  7. Impersonating the moderator is prohibited.

  8. Unless you're the moderator (that's me, obviously), co-moderator (that's nobody), or backup moderator (that's Vi) of this game, please do not delete or edit any posts in this thread.

  9. You are not allowed to discuss this game outside of the thread unless I tell you otherwise, nor are you allowed to discuss other ongoing games in this thread.

  10. Do not quote or pretend to quote any private communication, either from me or from anyone else you are allowed to talk with at night. This includes your role PM. You are allowed to paraphrase, but you are not allowed to plagiarize. If in doubt as to your paraphrase's legality, PM me with the wording you want to use.

  11. Claiming to be scum with someone else is prohibited.

  12. I will issue a prod to any player that does not post for 72 hours without notifying me of his or her absence. (I'm sorry, but I do not check the V/LA thread.) If you are prodded, you will have 48 hours from the time of submission to post in thread. Failure to do so may result in replacement. Keep in mind that I have the board time down to the second. I will only prod the same player twice—after that, he or she must post every 72 hours to ensure that he or she remains in the game.

  13. The fastest and preferred way to get ahold of me is by PM'ing me, but you may also communicate to me in thread if it is day or twilight and you are still alive. To do so, bold "Mod:" followed by what you want to tell me, as in
    Mod: Please prod StrangerCoug
    or
    Mod: StrangerCoug should have five votes, not four.
    Please use your judgment call in whether or not what you want to tell me should be public knowledge before talking to me in the thread. In additon, I will not entertain questions regarding possible night actions, nor will I answer questions about a person's role unless you happen to be the person in question and you ask me privately.

  14. Rule violations will be dealt with case by case based on severity. This can be a warning (of which I will only give two per player), ejection from the game, or even a modkill. Modkills are not a fun experience for anybody—the players affected automatically lose, I do it in the manner that I consider most harmful to your faction, and I die on the inside every time I have to do it.

  15. I am not God. If I make any mistakes whatsoever, please let me know.

  16. All rules are subject to change. In my previously modded games, things have come up that I didn't think about, and both my own and other's actions in those games have helped shape and modify these rules. It may happen again here.

Another day in Streetopolis dawns. You go on your way to work to find that it is blocked by a downed street light. From the looks of it, it didn't fall on its own, either—somebody knocked it down and drove over it.

When you finally get around it, you take your normal exit. The first light you come to isn't attached either—it came off its pole and has holes all over one side. Fortunately, since the traffic light itself is lighter than it combined with the pole, it was simply moved out of the way.

Who did these acts? It's up to you to decide...

You almost don't see the kid running across the crosswalk driving past the school. You don't hit him, but the fact that the pedestrian crossing sign has been knocked out of the ground helps you being that close in the first place.

Further down the road, police are at the scene of a crash. It appears that—to your glee—they blew the tires of a Porsche 911, which then crashed into a brick wall. They pull the driver out and throw him in jail.

One less speed demon is on the streets.

It looks like somebody tore the speed bump out. You almost missed School Street, too; the sign had been pulled out of the ground and you had to rely on memory as to where the street was.

You see an advertisement for Jeffrey's Restaurant on the street with tire marks on it. And it's not printed on just any old paper—this was on a billboard, for crying out loud.

As workers struggle to move the billboard so it's not obstructing traffic, it starts to rain. You realize that the drainage ditch is messed up—the hole is now big enough for legitimately useful stuff to fall down there. OK, so we've heard of losing a ring down there. How about a cat? One that got cut up falling down? Workers try their best to get her out too.

In the meantime, it's time to find out who did these atrocities. And fast.

Andrius and Twomz were so against red light cameras that they both took out baseball bats and beat the heck out of it. The cops aren't going to catch these two, that's for sure!

Twomz turned to Andrius.

"I'm a bad influence," Twomz said.

He then jumped in his Bugatti Veyron. Andrius tried to run, but it's kind of hard to do that past 253 miles an hour. He only made it to the next roundabout when Twomz jumped the curb, ran over him, and drove onto the highway clear out of Streetopolis.

What was once a bustling city with an almost perfect grid system, complete with public transportation, was a ghost town.

Each night, I need you to decide on a player whom you want to kill, if any, and which of you will PM me the hit. In addition, I need Starbuck specifically to tell me whom, if anybody, she would like to roleblock. If her roleblock target has a night action and attempts to use it that same night, it will fail. You will repeat this process until the end of the game or you die, whichever happens first. You are not allowed to nightkill yourself or your partners, nor is Starbuck allowed to roleblock herself (she

, however, allowed to roleblock and kill on the same night). If you decide to forego your kill and/or if Starbuck decides not to roleblock anybody, it'd be nice if I know.

I have made a QuickTopic thread where you may discuss your night actions here. You may speak with each other in this thread from now until Day 1 starts to discuss strategy. You may not talk to each other outside of the thread during the day.

Nobody in this game is a yield sign.

You win when all remaining players in Streetopolis are the Mafia or nothing can prevent the same.

MOD NOTES
  • I felt like something simple, and I think that makes me happy with how the balance turned out, but I would have played this game a little differently. In hindsight, I think it was a better idea for Chronopie, not animorpherv1, to claim miller. In addition, JacobSavage almost sent a kill out on CryMeARiver on Night 5; he then changed his action to the better idea of not killing anybody.
  • As for the speculation as to why Fate was not modkilled, I simply thought impersonating the mod did not compromise the game enough to warrant a modkill. I've MK'd more power roles than vanilla roles so far. For a mod to determine the level of punishment based on the power of the player is at best favoritism (mods should not be biased) and at worst bastard modding (which I said I wouldn't do this time).

I forgot to mention something: I had originally planned the scum fakeclaims as their real roles. I changed it because I felt they didn't fit the flavor of some of the town PM's.
