Basic Rules:

1.) Votes must be bolded and at the start of a line. If we don’t see it, we wont count it.

2.) Unvoting is nice, but not necessary.

3.) Once a majority is reached, that person is lynched.

4.) If there is no majority at deadline, there will be no lynch for that day.

5.) Day 1 will have an approximated deadline based on when the game starts – it will be no less than a week. All following days will have a deadline of 7 days.

6.) Nights will have 48 hours maximum. Any night actions not submitted will simply not happen – the thread should be open 48 hours following a deadline lynch.

7.) Do not talk about this game outside the thread unless your role allows you to.

8.) When you die, you are dead. Stay that way.

9.) Do not edit posts. Do not use invisible text. Do not use small text.

10.) Do not quote any communication from the mod (that includes PMs) in the game thread.

11.) If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, please let me know. See rule 12.

12.) If you do not post for the equivalent of a full game day (see rule 5) you will be modkilled. Further, you will be blacklisted from any future games using the BaM ruleset. Keep in mind that there are no replacements for flaking in a BaM ruleset game. Other circumstances requiring replacement are up to the mods discretion..

13.) If you notice mistakes aside from the vote count, PM me. Bold notification about vote count issues in the thread.

14.) Play to win.

15.) Play with the spirit of the game in mind.

15.a.) This means ASK before you do something you think I might question. Questions are good. Modkills are bad. See rule 12.

16.) Have fun. Remember that everyone playing are actually real people and treat them as such.

17.) Red is our color. Don’t use it.

18.) Night actions are determined using Natural Action Resolution

Each PM has two parts. The Pilot (thats YOU) and the ship you are currently on. Both parts are colored how they would investigate (if that is possible):

Pilots may possess:


P.) Passive abilities - These abilities are always active and in use.
A.) Active abilities - You may choose one of these in a cycle. Each active ability is designated by (N)ight Action, (D)ay Action or an (A)ny time action.

W.) Win condition - this is how you win.

The town win condition is:

W.)You win when all threats to the Hierarchy of Battle Thralls are eliminated.


Ships may possess:


P.) Passive abilities - These abilities are always active and in use.
A.) Active abilities - You may choose one of these in a cycle. Each active ability is designated by (N)ight Action, (D)ay Action or an (A)ny time action.
R.) Racial abilities. This abilities are only active if you are the same race as the ship you are on. They may be A or P and follow the rules for them as detailed above.

Every ship possesses:


B.) Battery Value. #/# This notes your current energy / maximum energy values.
A.) Jettison (0) (N) - Destroy the ship you are piloting sending all players on it into space.
A.) Retrieve (0) (N) - Select a player not aboard a ship. They will be placed on your ship. Unless noted, you may only have one other player on your vessel.

If two or more players attempt to retrieve the same player in space, random.org will be used to decide who successfully retrieves.

Jettisoned:


If, somehow, you end up in space without a ship you have one cycle to have someone retrieve you or you will run out of oxygen and die.

Example: SpyreX ends up in space at the start of Day 2. If not picked up by the start of Day 3 at daybreak he will die.

Resolution Specifics:

This setup uses Natural Action Resolution. However, the following always happens in this order:

1.) Battery Manipulation Effects
2.) Player Location Manipulation Effects (Jettison / Retrieve / Etc)
3.) All other effects as per NaR

So, if you opt to pick up someone and then get devoured by a space monster in a night, both of you will be devoured.

Or, if a POWERFUL WIZARD makes you appear on a different vessel any actions you selected for your ship would be unable to be performed unless the new ship ALSO could perform those actions. This also means that pilot abilities would work when applicable.

An Interview of Admiral Zelnick: The Alliance Initiative

Again, unsurprisingly considering how many copies of my previous interview were purchased, I was allowed to interview Zelnick.

This time we met at a small café. I’ll skip the pleasantries but I will note that if anything he looked even more vibrant; as if the knowledge that so many were reliving his glory days was enough to make him not only feel young, but be young at heart again.

After we finished our tea, he began to talk. This time, he was very direct:

“After we recovered the Precursor technology from Zeta Sextantis, the war efforts gained new momentum. The technology allowed us to fit ourselves with Hyperspace dampening fields which not only allowed us to determine the battlefields, but also let us drag the Hierarchy supply lines to a screeching halt.”

He sighed into his cup, “However, that wasn’t enough. The Hierarchy was still slowly gaining ground. So, I did what any good general would do – I read. Everything I could get my hands on about ancient wars on Earth. And, I came across a solution.”

“Guerilla warfare. Surprise as our greatest ally. I immediately sent out smaller strike teams with one purpose: destroy as many Hierarchy bastards as possible. I gave a bounty on Ur-Quan heads.”

“Most of the strike forces worked well. Some, of course, never returned.”

“But, there was one force in particular I remember….”

Notes:

This one, on many levels, I feel like was a mod failure. I had more than a couple small mistakes (Plum's PM, etc). A big one (Cruelty's timing) and just a constant wave of doubt because I made the setup too hard for myself. :P

Additionally, and this came into play late and helped me realize some of what was going on - some of you might see those PM's and go "Hey, those look a little different than mine."

Yep. I had a power flash that I didn't realize was a previous version of PM's. So, some things (PZ's marine value) were different than I had noted.

So, overall I'm marking this down as a mod failure. I love the ideas, mechanics and flavor but I need a way to unify and streamline because my lord.

THAT SAID:

It really, to me, didn't seem like the scum looked in detail at their fakeclaims - all three served as doublers for the actual roles in the game with enough similarities that they a.) served as covers for their real actions and b.) gave a lot of additional insight to the setup and what to expect (or so was the plan).

Cruelty voiding dry-fit alone is the MVP in my eyes - dry would have blown the hell up otherwise and money would have been on a dead PZ / Gamma at that point. (Kamikaze is not conventional weaponry).

The hammer brothers both a.) sharing and b.) accepting each other as town was another twist I wasn't expecting. Dry fit not also barging in at that point was, again, something I wasn't expecting.

I'd love feedback, etc but I'll freely give I'm disappointed in myself in how this went down.

At that point even an SK lynch is -probably- a scum win.

I don't fault you but both bouncy and dry were on the lurkery end and in this game when all town are active that makes it really, really hard. Even THEN if it wasn't for cruelty blocking dry-fit it could have easily been salvageable.

You guys had waves of bad luck which hampered it too:

Draining a 0 energy player.
Kast screwing up your N1 kill.
Dry-fit not being able to explode.

I could have seen doing a n1 pull + explode for 1 dead player, 2 destroyed ships + a floater.

The cruelty situation was one I dont think I could have rectified easily. It was my fault too in the most basic "I really need to find a way to describe how effects go" because while I -wanted- it to work the way it did it sure as hell didn't by the rules.

One other major change I wish I could have done in retrospect was giving you both more energy.

I did mess up that one too. Even now when I see that last line you JUST wrote I assume eat = kill.

Also, I was toying around with the idea of initiative for abilities (1-10, lowest goes, then so on).

Not ROLLING for it but predefined so there's no question when things happen:

Retrieve (Night, 0 energy, Initiative 1): Pick up a player.
Murder Their Faces (Night, 1 energy, Initiative 3): Kill a player.
Swap (Night, 0 energy, Iniative 2): Swap two players.

So, it would definitely be (Retrieve, Swap, Murder) in the resolution.

SOO, if there was a (FOR EXAMPLE FFF)

Shield (Night, 0 energy, Initative 1): Shield a player from all actions.

It would take place before the murder or the swap (negating both).
