BaM Ruleset1.) Votes must be
bolded
and at the start of a line. If we don’t see it, we wont count it. If we think it's a vote, it will count as a vote, and vice versa.

2.) Unvoting is nice, but not necessary.

3.) Once a majority is reached, that person is lynched.

4.) If there is no majority at deadline, there will be no lynch for that day.

5.) Day 1 will have an approximated deadline based on when the game starts – it will be no less than 10 days. All following days will have a deadline of 10 days.

6.) Nights will have 48 hours maximum. Any night actions not submitted will simply not happen – the thread should be open 48 hours following a deadline lynch.

7.) Do not talk about this game outside the thread unless your role allows you to.

8.) When you die, you are dead. Stay that way.

9.) Do not edit posts. Do not use invisible text. Do not use small text.

10.) Do not quote any communication from the mod (that includes PMs) in the game thread.

11.) If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, please let me know. See rule 12.

12.) If you do not post for an entire gameday or the number of days which constitute a deadlined game day (in this game, 10) - whichever comes

- you will be modkilled. Further, you will be blacklisted from any future games using the BaM ruleset. Keep in mind that this procedure only applies to flakers - if you find your own replacement (you are encouraged to contact, or ask the Mod to contact, those who /inned to replace before the game started), the above does not apply and you may legally replace out.

13.) If you notice mistakes aside from the vote count, PM me. Bold notification about vote count issues in the thread.

14.) Play to win.

15.) Play with the spirit of the game in mind.

15.a.) This means ASK before you do something you think I might question. Questions are good. Modkills are bad. See rule 12.

16.) Have fun. Remember that everyone playing are actually real people and treat them as such.

is our color (which I am using for flavor-related purposes, not to copycat off Vi. Honest). Don’t use it.

18.) Night actions are determined using Natural Action Resolution
In cases of contradiction, the first action submitted will resolve first.


Game-Specific Rules


1. Every character is assigned a race. When an Elf dies, he/she does not flip role or alignment but is moved to the
Halls of Mandos
, which functions as a pool of resurrectable players who cannot post, vote, use abilities, or participate in the game while they are there. On any Day when at least one players is in the Halls of Mandos the live players may vote to Revive a player there (bring them back into the game, allowing them to post, vote, and use abilities again) and may additionally vote to Destroy a player there, which will permanently remove that player from the game and cause them to flip role and alignment. Up to one player may be Revived and one Destroyed each game Day. Voting is the same as Lynch voting. Once a majority to do either is reached, that choice is locked in until the lynch. After the lynch, no votes for either Revive or Destroy will have any effect. Characters of any other races will move
Beyond the Circles of the World
(and for you flavor nitpickers, the Void isn't within the Circles of the World, now, is it?), and flip role, race, and alignment. There may or may not be exceptions to these conventions.

2. Every player has the capacity to possess the Silmaril. When a player does so, possessing the Silmaril will grant him or her an extra or bonus ability. If the player possessing the Silmaril is killed, the killer will gain possession of it; if the player possessing it is lynched, a random member of the lynch mob will gain possession of it. There may or may not be exceptions to these conventions.

3. Because all Role PM flavor is given in quotes from the Silmarillion, you may post your flavor text and you may post your character art. You may not post your abilities but may paraphrase them.

    - These abilities are passive. In general, they involve no active targeting and cannot be blocked.
  • Knowledge
    - You know which players have which roles and have access to all quicktopics.
Active Abilities:
  • Active Abilities
    – Generally you may only perform one Active Action per Night.
  • Action Resolution
    - Every time it is necessary, you must resolve the actions taken by the players of the game.
  • Votecount (Special)
    - You must supply votecounts at the top of every page. This must be done during the Day only. This does not count towards your one active action limit.
  • Prodding (Special)
    - You will prod players at the request of other players during the Day and at your discretion at Night. This does not count towards your one active action limit.
Silmaril Bonus Ability:
  • Silmaril Bonus Ability

Given that FeFiFoFum reached Destroy threshold before all of this became clear, I will not modkill him or reset the Destroy votecount. By the time this was requested, he was functionally completely dead, with only the actual flip delayed until the lynch scene is posted.

Little beginning of the Day edits/news:

1. LlamaFluff, my gracious backup Mod, resolved yesterday's lynch and everything related to it for me because I knew I'd be away from the computer, and I really need to thank him for all his help, as everything I asked him to do went off without a hitch, and I really couldn't be running this game properly without his occasional but crucial assistance.

2. I made a mistake and accidentally didn't list Steam-Powered Shovel as in the Halls of Mandos, where he most assuredly is. That means there are 17 players alive and it will take 9 players to lynch, revive, destroy, and no-lynch. That will be edited in to my previous posting as necessary. Thanks for your patience.

As I stated in the commentary, the game mechanics coupled with the number of Elves screwed over Morgoth's Mafia hard. They needed a super-kills which superceded the Mandos stuff plus some Roleblocking power plus a more guaranteed Rolestealing power for Morgoth and maybe a better basic shapeshift for Sauron plus reduced Town power (Universal Backup in a setup like this, especially, was a Bad Idea). Strangely, I think the Kinslayer's Mafia lost not because the setup was against them but mostly through their play. If you saw their quicktopic, a lot of Cobalt's early lurking was intentional and did not help matters.

Fakeclaim sharing within scumteams did not work smoothly, thogh it could have been used to advantage much better; they had a few good ones which never made it into the game at all.
