We should be able to use this to our advantage fairly well. Nik claiming now should make the scum WIFOM the hell out of NKs and we ought to get a confirmed townie or two or even catch a scum member.

Kenman: it would be nice if you explain that 2-scum assumption instead of just telling us to ignore it.

muzzz: context is everything. I've read the start of Mafia 94 and in the first three days of the game there's no discernable difference in Duck's eagerness to vote. You also knew the context of that vote you quoted (early game wagon on a self-voter, much like this early game wagon on someone with a potential scumslip) and you made no reference to that or your meta argument from the rest of the game. It looks to me exactly like an attempt to kick an easy target while he's down.

Unvote; Vote: muzz

muzzz wrote:Sarcasm: yes, you're right. I forgot to mention that the wagon in 94 was much like this wagon. My bad. I totally should have announced that I'd be going against all tradition by bringing up meta from a situation that's, *gasp*, actually similar...

And if the difference between "bandwagon ftw" and "I don't really feel like voting for him again until we've heard more from him" is not discernable in your opinion, what is?
Just to be clear, that question isn't rhetorical.
As far as I can see, Duck jumped on a bandwagon in that game and unvoted in his next post after dingo challenged him about it. Sound familiar? You've actually pulled a quote which comes from a series of events that's very similar to this game, based on a game in which Duck was town. You basically grabbed a bandwagon vote you knew would look terrible and posted it here with no consideration of the wider context or properly assessing the two situations in comparison.

muzzz: Duck said 'bandwagon ftw' at the time of his bandwagon vote in 94. His statement about not wanting to vote came well after his unvote on Kenman. Again, it's a completely different context. Duck didn't show any reluctance to vote Kenman as part of the wagon, he's showing reluctance to re-vote Kenman. He was just as happy to jump on the wagon here as he was there.

So for you, in any situation, a Duck who wants a quick bandwagon is town and a Duck who's not as free with his vote is scum?

I'm guessing you have no actual DuckScum meta that we can look at.

muzzz: because your assumption is based on Duck not voting the same way as the one game you've played with him as town. If you could point to some scum meta, or even had fleshed out your case when you posted that quote, I'd feel better about your accusations. As it stands, it just looks to me like an easy snipe at Duck when he was already under pressure.

I might not be able to get on much for the next few days so just warning everyone that my posting may reduce for a short while.

Mod: possible V/LA until Monday.

Not feeling so bad about muzzz now. I still don't like the way he brought up that meta on Duck but I think we've thrashed it out to an extent where I feel his reasons for doing so are more likely to be town.

Parama's buddying disturbs me. It's one thing having town reads, it's another saying 'I love you DTM!'

Parama: is this normal? Do you usually express your town reads like this? What about my content do you like?

Spyrex: what's looking good about Parama?

Parama: you didn't answer my third question. You implied that something about the content I posted made you think I was pro-town; is that correct?

Parama: I was under that impression because you stated it as though it was a point in my favour against the fact that I'd been defending Duck. In short, then, your read of me is based on:
1. I've had more content than some lurkers.
2. I defended Duck (which you don't like).

Am I therefore right in saying that I'm higher up your town scale than other players who haven't actively done anything scummy but also haven't posted much content?

Yes, it's relevant. I'm judging how well-reasoned your reads are and how genuinely interested in alignment you are. Going by your read on me, I'm saying not very to both.

No, I agree. I'm just wondering why it was a null-town read if you found my defending (and apparently buddying) Duck scummy.

I like this Nobody Special wagon, particularly because he claims a town read on Confid due to 'good content'. I wonder if he's read Confid's posts in the last week. I'd quite like to vote him but it occurs to me that we don't appear to have a deadline, which I would quite like to know before I do.

Mod: what's the deadline? Is there a set limit for days?

Mod: really sorry but I'm going to have no home internet access at all in the next three weeks, so I'll basically only be online once or twice a week if I manage to get to an internet cafe. As a result, I think replacing me would be best. If finding a replacement is a real problem then I'll do my best to post what I can at those times but obviously I'm not going to be able to do a great deal.
