That argument is fail. Your logic there says we should go strictly off Metas, is scum tells are different for every player. Thre are certain things that are a general consensus for scumtells, IMHO. Deflection as Puli said is one of them. And you just did that with mentioning Nico. Do you really think you're safe from being lynched today?

HAHA! I am NEVER safe from being lynched. That's what makes the game fun. That wasnt deflection, that was me enquiring as to why you were talking about lynching me or Sniper when you want a Nico lynch.

I am a META PLAYER. Every player plays in different ways. Some use logic, some use gut. Very few players purely use metas. I'm one of those people. IMO it allows me to get an objective view on each player. You cant entirely change your meta, psychology wont allow it.

Case 1 - Appeal to Emotion

Player A has an emotional disorder. As a result in every game they get emotioal and blow up at people. In the case, things they say are often misconstued as being emotional appeal.

Player B is a relatively normal person. Often when he is scum, he will cry and shout over being lynched, trying to make people scared he is town so they dont lynch him.

In case 1, the scumtell 'Appeal to Emotion' becomes a null tell because Player A can't help it when they become emotional, all they can do is try to limit how emotionally involved they get in the game, it's null because they do it more than 0.5% of the time as town aswell as scum. Whereas, for Player 2, it is an obvious scumtell because it's something he does as scum more than 0.5% of the time. This means that Player 2 should be lynched in a game, more than Player 1 should because there are big individual differences when it comes to them. It also shows that you need to remember that they people in games are not just computers or emotionless human beings, they are people just like you are. A lot of people on this site fail to remember that.

Case 2 - Lurking

Player 1 finds it extremely difficult to get into games. It takes him ages to write a post and he finds if very difficult to work on little information on Day 1. After Day 1, he get's better an better.

Player 2 always lurks as scum, getting information out of her is like pulling teeth with a vacuum cleaner, nearly impossible. She does not improve after Day 1 and just continues to lurk all game.

In this case the best option would be to lynch player 2 over player 1 so you can analyse player 1's play better on Day 2 and decide what to do then. There is a massive difference between players when it comes to lurking, for most players it is a null tell, for some other players it is a scumtell depending on what player it is.

Case 3 - Illogical Townies

Player 1 mostly uses gut. He tries to explain why someone is scummy but it often doesn't get explained right - possibly due to problems with analysing. During end game, he is usually said to have been correct in who was scum but during the game he looked scummy because his arguments were 'wrong' according to the other players.

Player 2 is a logical player. She uses logic to find scum and has no difficulty in analysing other players. In her scum games she often uses logic inappropriately to the extent that she is badly misrepresenting the other people in the game. Usually as town, she uses logic brilliantly.

In this case, the best option by far would be to lynch Player 2. The benefits of lynching her outway the cost of lynching Player 1. It is very important to work out the difference between an illogical player and a player who is deliberately misrepping people, as it is also important to work out if the player misinterpretted someone or misprepresented them.

Do you understand better now? This is why it is important to know who you are playing with. There are reasons I always player with at least one person I already know in a game. If I don't know players, I make the effort to get to know them and their style by reading their games.

Right, so firstly, I am quite suspicious of Nikanor. This is because he has been pushing me for content mmost of the game knowing full well that I have been busy judging and about how much time it has taken up (he listened to me whining about it quite a few times on AIM). Evidence to show that he knew is that he posted about it in thread before I did.

Further reasoning for finding Nikanor scummy is that for most of the game he has been a Lurky McLurker, posting just in time to not receive a prod. Nikanor does not lurk in his town games.

His attempts at scumhunting are really wishy washy for me.

In his very first post, Max says certain players are scum. This could be seen as joking but he says in his next post that it was serious. This is scummy because he didn't give any reasons for why those players are scum, scum don't like to give reasons for why they find people scummy because it is difficult for them to come out with lies, it often leads to them being accused of strawmanning. The rest of his second post is a pretty poor attempt at scum hunting. He does give a reason for his opinions on who is scum (from his first post) but it isn't an adequate reason.

I don't like his Iso post 5, because it seems like a poor attempt at iso-ing people and scumhunting. However, I do agree with his 6 post, that not voting on Day One isn't scummy but voting when you arent willing to lynch is scummy.

I also dont like how defensive he got when he was under pressure.

Has contributed nothing to the game during the time he has been playing. He has made obviously joke posts throughout the game. I find this scummy because he has given no explanation to his lack of contribution - at least I've tried to. There is enough to comment on at this point so it is pretty obvious that the only thing he is doing is intentionally keeping information from the town. Recently, he has been following my vote around - hell I hadn't even noticed which I believe is an attempt to get me lynched today. Kind of like buddying. I also find him scummy for this.

I believe that he is the best person to lynch today and if he turns out scum then his most likely scumbuddies are Furry or SPS. Furry because he has been putting forward the idea that Sniper is just a VI all game, SPS because he seems to

I dont feel like isoing myself right now. Yes, I did have time to make a graph, but seriously? I used a web program and it took me less than 5 minutes. Scumhunting and writing a post about it takes me nearer two hours.

Slaxx has clear logical posts. He is actively scumhunting and trying to catch scum. He has been faily active all game. I can't really fault his logic - the calling me scum thing is getting annoying though. But his opinions have reflected his votes and I don't believe he has tunneled anyone this game. I do however find it weird that he only started being really active and scumhunting when I said he was one of the most pro-town people to me at the time. It is like he is trying to play up to it and keep suspicions off him. This may be the cause for my gut feeling telling me that he is scum now. Remember that scum want to scumhunt too, to ensure that they can eliminate the other scum faction.
