When there are enough experienced players and moderators to start your game (which is next in line). Not before, unless you choose to replace into an ongoing game. If you think this pace is "lame" you may find the pace of an actual game intolerable as well; what are you used to, if I can ask? We measure things in weeks and sometimes months, here.

how long does it usually take for a game to start??

Depends on the rate of signups; right now, about a week or so for Newbie Games. If you're familiar with how to play the game already, you may find it faster to join one of the Mini or Open games. But be aware that the pace of games here may be very different from what you're used to; if waiting a week to start is going to annoy you, think about what waiting a month or sometimes more to finish a Day will do, before you jump in over your head.

oh, and i forgot: do u just look at the lists above to figure out whether or not u are a part of a game?

Look at the first post on the first page of this thread; your name is on there already, slated for the sixth game to start after 620 (so probably 626, unless a bunch of people drop out). You'll receive a PM from your Game Moderator when you are assigned to a game and given a role, no worries.

Not another Newbie Game, no. Part of the point of Newbie Games is to acclimate people to the pace of our games here, so I don't see what letting you play in two would do to help your boredom). And given the backlog of new players wanting to play them, letting you in more than one would only exacerbate the situation. However, if you think you're able and willing, the Mini Normal/Theme Queues and Open Game Queues are both shorter and usually not much larger in game size, so you may wish to try there.

Yep, they are; I'm gonna kick shaka!! in the nuts!! for flaking out on a whole bunch of games as IC. Check the first post though, JDodge - there's a bunch of people willing to replace in and are IC-qualified, and I think some people are still up for a non-IC spot like you have in 602, too.

Just a few questions if I may:

How exactly does the 'replacement' queue work? It seems that a lot of the replacements are done on a 'first PM' basis.

VRK got it pretty much exactly right. I list people who are 'on deck' to be a replacement in the first post, to make Mod's lives easier; however on the rest of the site it's much more likely to have a defecit of replacements, so a lot of people use the 'first to PM me' model. I just pinged JDodge about some people willing to play in 602, including yourself by all appearances.

VRK also gets NG 625, continuing his 'An Hero' status.

I'll just place you in two different games; it happens fairly regularly, no worries. After a while on the site (so you can establish some credibility), you can probably join a game together if you wish, but it'll still be important to let the mod and your other players know.

Fair Warning: I found it very difficult to play in the same game with my fiancée, as it was extremely difficult not to talk about the game outside of thread. And I've seen hurt feelings when someone lynches their RL partner... but it's certainly possible. We have an entire family that plays on MafiaScum (MeMe, Dourgrim, Atticus, etc)!

IC-ness requires four or five completed (not just dead-in) games, because often the endgame analysis and setup reveal will help teach you things you might not otherwise know.

*shrug* Depends on your definition of 'deadbeat'. Are people going to flake out and disappear and be replaced? Probably, that's a factor of a) newbies and b) the length of our games. You lose a lot more people during confirmations than during the game, because some people make one post on the site and never return.

I'm sorry, but while you're still in your first game on-site, we limit you to one newbie Game at a time; it cuts down on the high demand, and prevents too many games from being impacted if a newbie flakes out. Once your time in your first game is complete (whether you die or win), you can

replace

into a second game as well as another full game. If you're bored, you might look into a Mini or Open Game, but be aware that the pace may not be any better there. Don't overextend yourself...
