I'm worried it might be because if someone checks the thread and sees an edit from today, they might correctly assume that there was an error we only caught because we rolled the post.
Someone could still notice it isn't on the list in the discussion thread though, or you could edit that list and that would be noticeable too, just not as bad because it puts it within 4 roles. In post 10, Cook wrote: you could disguise it by me editing all the errata'd roles since i don't think i actually edited the thread for them
It might be. Idk. I don't see a way to actually edit the role to do what you want it to do without giving something away. I could also write the clause the other way and allow edits to the names of roles to match the intended function as written underneath the role.In post 11, Cook wrote: i'd then post something to the NIM thread saying "in light of a game of this being run, i have updated the roles in the thread that were either not normal or unclear. this is the most recent revision of NIM, and will be used for any games that are run."
that might also count as attempting to influence the game...
hmm. maybe listmod intervention would be helpful
PM sent.In post 14, Cook wrote: yeah. annoying that we didn't catch that earlier, still gonna say probably let S_S know
I haven't sent anything out, so yes, I will reroll along with making those changes. In post 16, Something_Smart wrote: If you haven't sent the role PMs, you should reroll the setup. That seems safest.
I'd also errata that specific post and add a rule covering a mismatch between role name and role description, as Alianna suggested.
You just want to change the role to say Mafia Informed Cop, right? In post 14, Cook wrote: yeah. annoying that we didn't catch that earlier, still gonna say probably let S_S know
I'll make the announcement in thread, you should be good to go and edit that post as well as the other ones that have been errata'd.In post 19, Cook wrote: yeah that’s good
Let me read up, I didn't think that was how UB worked. In post 27, Cook wrote: universal backup is for their team only
oh god
mafia has no chance
they have no power roles against an entire town of PRs
FWIW, it originally said "Universal Backup Mafia," but I thought the alignment was just supposed to go first for town and maf.In post 28, Alianna wrote:Let me read up, I didn't think that was how UB worked. In post 27, Cook wrote: universal backup is for their team only

Um. Okay. This will be, uh,the wiki wrote:However, as soon as a non-vanilla player belonging to the same faction as the Universal Backup dies, the Universal Backup becomes a copy of that player (losing their Universal Backup ability); they gain that player's role, including any modifiers it has.
It probably does.In post 32, Alianna wrote: Does that count as mod influence?
Like, it's supposed to be 100% random, so rerolling it for balance feels unfair even if it is egregiously townsided. I think we just have to go with it at this point. In post 33, Alianna wrote:It probably does.In post 32, Alianna wrote: Does that count as mod influence?
I know it's not ideal. It just seems like a violation of game integrity to do otherwise.
Thank you once again! In post 46, Something_Smart wrote:She would die. BG/shield dying is a separate effect, and not something that can be blocked by BP (or doctor, for that matter). In post 43, Alianna wrote: If Aureal successfully blocks a kill with the Shield and still has the BP shot, does she survive?
We should probably make this more clear on the wiki.

HOW DO THEY KNOW?In post 109, usesPython wrote: wait UNOwen is on the wagon nvm
In post 40, usesPython wrote: hmm now do we point it out anyways when someone claims a role from the 100+ series or would that just make us look more sus (like why do we know it)
Maybe just let people claim and once everyone claimed use it as a reason to townread ppl who claimed a role in the 100+ series if they're the cold and calculating type
Oh no, is this undue mod influence? In post 151, Alianna wrote:Moderator Announcement
There was some confusion relating to a post I made in the Normal Idea Mafia thread.I never made it explicit in the Setup Information post, so I will clarify now that this was an earlier plan that I did not end up following. This game's setup was rolled using the entire 150-post deck.In post 148, Alianna wrote:Serial Killer Rolecop 3-Shot Commuter
I'm referring to 17, 36, and 39. I only intend to use the first 100 posts for this run.
That's all.
Yeah, might have been smarter to do that.In post 56, Cook wrote: i ran into this issue before
generally wait before you make the moderator announcement?
Idk, I messaged S_S again.In post 59, Cook wrote: i guess?
It breaks my brain, therefore it's cryptography. In post 238, biancospino wrote:If the idea here is forcing scum to commit to a fakeclaim out of the gate, it can be done quite trivially. In post 232, camelCasedSnivy wrote: i was trying to come up with a way to stop scum from easily claiming by doing something like claiming your post number mod 5 but that only helps scum
Like, everyone secretly chooses a random (200+N)-digits prime p and a random (500-N)-digits prime q and publicly posts pq. Retrieving p is unfeasible; 200 and 500 can be freely increased if we want more security.
Thou this may be cryptography, idk;@mod?
Good to know.In post 62, Something_Smart wrote: That's literally textbook cryptography. As in, it'd probably be in a cryptography textbook.
Relatable, I can't roll scum either. In post 384, Aureal wrote: "Intentionally playing differently than expected and thus knowingly drawing attention" would probably be a better way of phrasing what I've been doing. The intention isn't to draw attention, but it's obvious that it can happen.
What it means is that you clearly have a much too limited view of my play range and I'm bloody well pushing back at that. I have a very ill-defined scum meta because I can't bloody well roll scum yet here we are, trying to put me in a 'doesn't seem like town play therefore must be scum' box. Regardless of how accurate that assessment even is. Last game, I was more townread early when I was mostly fluff posting, and the more active and opinionated I got, the more scumread I was, particularly by Python here. So it's pretty wild for them to park on me an expect me to just somehow become towny. I have said quite a few times that trying to meta-read me is a bad idea. The only possibly valid way is to just assume that I'm town because that's just how it freaking goes with my games this year.
This is...not going so well for the mafia. In post 475, Alianna wrote:

Each night, you may protect someone from a single kill ability.
Once in the game during night, you may protect someone from a single kill ability and learn if they areTownorNot Town.
I'll start the day in a moment then.
I think this is correct?
Hmm.In post 81, Cook wrote: i'm not sure if multiple bullet-jumpers all trigger at once or if stacking protections like this causes one to take priority over the other
it's a question of if the kill "happened" or not i guess
Does this apply though?NAR wiki wrote:Do not use this list unless actions are actually in conflict; that is, that both affect each other.
If only one of the actions affects another, resolve that one first, regardless of the positions on the list.
