Nothing super groundbreaking, although data miners managed to find all of the new Gen7 pokemon in S&M if anyone is interested in looking it up. You do get to port Ash-Greninja to S&M once you've completed the main part of the demo, though!
On another note, for those of you who have legit X/Y/OR/AS games, you can get Keldeo/Volcanion for free right now via Mystery Gift/GameStop code card (respectively) & bank them for use in S&M if you want.

Finding shiny Pokémon in the wild is a fun experience regardless of stats or abilities (especially since you basically *have* to breed for competitive play anyway). The only shiny I ever found outside of Friend Safari was a shiny Steelix in Diamond. I took it to the HoF because why not.
I'm at the first trial. I've only had the game for two days and spent all of Thanksgiving w/the family. Still, I'm taking my time on this and enjoying exploring. I rushed through X last month to have it finished before this came out, and I didn't enjoy that experience nearly as much.

I am not a fan of the "call for help" mechanic. It's really fucking stupid when I'm just trying to catch a damn Pokémon and I have to fight five of them before it fails to find help.

That is the one benefit, you can kind of mess around until you get a specific gender of something.
Right now I'm on Route 4 (like I said, I'm REALLY taking my time with this game) & rolling w/the following team:
Dartrix
Snorlax
Grimer (I just want to see how the Alola form feels - secondary dark type seems handy)
Cutiefly (deceptively good!)
Growlithe
Magnetite
It's nice that HMs aren't going to be a thing. I plan on phasing out some of the Gen1 Pokémon as I go along. I also haven't gone hunting for rare Pokemangs yet.
How Oricorio (the dancing bird one)? I caught one but I haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet.

The SOS mechanic is supposed to be really good for competitive batters, since each pokemon counts separately for ev training, and the pokemon called during the chain can have the Pokemon's hidden ability, and have progressively better IVs. If I remember the Smogon thread, the third pokemon called is guaranteed to have 2 perfect IVs, and the fortieth is guaranteed to have four perfects. Though I imagine that if you don't care about competitive, it's probably just annoying.
I don't care about competitive when I'm on fucking Route 4.

Next step will be to breed a shiny Minior (because you can't SOS chain him for some dumb fucking reason) to complete the full core spectrum.
Uh, to each his own, I guess.
I'm just having fun dinking around with different Pokemon right now. I am getting MASSIVE enjoyment smashing duders with Wishiwashi right now.
There will be plenty of time for completion, competitive, and much more.

Also, I *really* liked the mons in this gen, and this is my favorite storyline/adventure to date. I'm p sure I'd put Sun down as my favorite Pokemon game thus far.

According to Serebii, Salandit is supposedly 12.5% female, 87.5% male. That said, I bred 52 male Salandit before I got my first female (an impressive 0.11% chance of getting 51 males in a row).

Yeah but breeding a high-IV Salandit >>>> catching one of the right nature, leveling it to 100, and Hyper Training it.
EDIT: Like, I played with a Salazzle in my party for a while, but her stats are garbage and she has a terrible nature so there's not really anything I can do with it right now as I prep for competitive.
EDIT: Well now I have 5 with 4 perfect IVs among non-attack stats, so yeah. That luck turned around quick lol.

I have 4-star and 2-star, add me <3
If you have any decent shops let me know too

Great, thanks! In case you missed it earlier in the thread, my FC is 4356-4257-4083 || Glork
Remember that only the shop immediately to the right of your castle is the one you share with other people. If you could move the 2* Treasure Hunt there, that'd be amazing. Then I just need to be online with you for a second to add you as a VIP.

BTW, I have pages and pages of Salandit & Vulpix breedjects if anyone wants any. Piles of them with 3-5 perfect IVs, Timid nature, and most of the Vulpix ones have Snow Warning, too.
I don't really care for anything in exchange, happy to give them away (although I wouldn't say no to other people's breedjects, as it would help me save some time, too).

Can I take you up on this and get a Cranidos breeded? Don't care about stats, nature, or anything like that.

I have it all set if you can trade now.
Thanks. I fell asleep minutes after making that post and was out of commission all day yesterday but I'll be around basically all day today. I'll keep an eye on this thread so you can lmk when to get online in Festival Plaza.

I think it fits with the general vibe of Alola region. There's a lot of "happy fun times togetherness" expressed by NPCs throughout the region, and Festival Plaza is supposed to represet that.

I'm trying to catch a Tapu Lele with low Attack (not even necessarily going for 0 IVs), but literally 16/18 so far have had 31 IV in Attack. It's getting really annoying.

My breeding game is on point right now. Perfect IV Rhyhorn, Beldum, and Salandit in one day. (Sadly, I am going for a 0 ATK Salandit. I did get one with 30/0/31/31/31/31 but it's male.)

I really like some of the Alolan forms of Gen 1 Pokémon -- especially Alolan Ninetails & Alolan Muk. I also liked Palossand and Dewpider/Araquanid.
Wishiwashi was kinda cool at first but I ultimately found it to be very meh. Yungoos/Gumshoos were obnoxiously common throughout the game which is expected, but still really lame.

Anyone want a perfect IV blue Minior? I'm trying to breed a shiny and have bred like 4 perfect IV ones in the meantime. I also have a dew that are 5 perfect IVs with the 6th IV being 30.

Fair enough. Jolly/Sash is what I've seen people use, but Adamant is probably viable too?
Anyway, don't want or expect anything in return so if you change your mind lmk At the very least it might help other breeding projects.

I actually have like 2 shiny Pichu and 2 shiny Pikachu because of extreme luck when I was iterating for better IVs (and one because I simply forgot to put an Everstone on one before breeding, so wrong nature)

I'm excited.
I just like playing Pokémon games.
In other news, I've had some bad shiny hatching luck lately. Over 1k Cubones without a shiny.... game up on getting a shiny Salazzle because of that absurd gender ratio, and I'm not willing to use 3rd party RNG abuse programs.
