Anybody know how "Score" is calculated? I find myself inevitably falling behind in
*something*
when I play games (MP or SP - doesn't matter which) and I assume it's a problem with my build path but I don't know where the problem lies. It must be somewhat of an accurate indicator of how well I'm doing so far, since I usually lose when I have a significantly lower "Score".
Is there a "standard" start?
What's everybody's "standard" starts?

Thank you for reminding me to finish my Ramesses II Science / Cultural fiesta!
Anybody else ever have an AI game where 3 Civs ally with eachother and the other 3 do the same? Friends, Pacts, Research - the whole shebang. I got lucky with Hiawatha and Harun and the other "team" is Theodora, Gandhi, and Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. Nobody attacked anybody until after 2000 except me. I had a little skirmish with Theodora to prevent her settling an island with 4 Pearls and 6 Iron, and tried to sue for peace right after I took it but she wouldn't bite. A couple turns go by and she begs for peace by throwing one of her cities at me when I hadn't even moved military units anywhere near her other than to take the Settler she'd sent out...

Pitboss was their attempt at doing that, but I'm pretty sure you must be logged into Steam and (maybe?) playing Civ V for the entire length of time to be notified that it's your turn, etc. also I would assume it makes War... undesirable...?
The fog of war looks amazing, and the fact that the construction of things happens in many more stages, as well as map destructibility, is pretty cool. However I'm not too sure I'm a fan of the step towards the cartoon-like style, it makes the game feel less serious and could be seen as a step down from civ v.
Some of the hinted mechanics on the other hand sound great.
I think I will learn to love it. This may seem unrelated, but look up the show
Pushing Daisies
if you don't know it by name. Basically, the cinematographer maxed out the saturation in many of the shots, resulting in an almost otherworldly and colorful environment. It was engrossing more than it was distracting, and I see the artistic style as shifting towards that, not necessarily cartoon. It looks like a game to me, but so did CiV.

Then every single AI except Canada, Macedon, and the Cree (surprisingly) denounced me and then declared war, and that's where I'm at in 600 AD.
Edit: My capital was just nuked by none other than.... gandhi
Wow, incredible! for a bunch of reasons:
Maori... science? I'm intrigued! what was the vibe for the build? Preserve shenanigans?
Norway sucks in general about that agenda, IMO, bc plenty of Civs/Maps just... don't need a navy, and if you have coastal cities (Maori... check) you're in for it if on higher difficulty, however...
...you
razed
2 of his cities?! JFC, you can get so much from the AI for Cities if you
give them back
in peace deals, not to mention you might wipe out all the Grievances that caused all the other Civs to hate you and nuke you
plz give me some screenshots of this game! or an update if it didn't die to the fire of the restart button!

Yeah, I can't ever rly play 5 again bc despite whatever you may say about 6's shortfalls (and it certainly has them) it has moved the series forward in a lot of new way which have more potential on the horizon, not to mention it added some incredible dynamics sorely lacking from 5, and that's the point of a sequel.
