Handlock is going to be stupidly overpopulated and Control Paladin will rise again! I am so fucking excited, I haven't stopped playing Pally since it went out of style, but I miss it.

CW has a hard time versus Priest, Handlock, and Paladin. It's super effective against Hunter and Zoo, but with Hunter going down, it won't be as prevalent since it has weak matchups against those three decks. Conveniently, Paladin has strong matchups against Handlock and Control Warrior. The ladder will be mostly Handlock.

Yeah, that's kind of the exact reason to play Control Warrior. Though, if you have a dearth of legendaries, I find it odd you would play CW, since it almost requires a ton of legendaries to do well with.

Control Warrior is weird because it's the most expensive deck in the game right now, and it doesn't really work to just replace those legendaries with something else. Control Paladin was my first control deck and is relatively cheap (and really well positioned in the meta right now).

Even if the excessive legendaries were cut, you'd still at least need Grommash and Rag and Cairne to play Control Warrior properly.

I was playing a tempo Warrior deck a little while back that did okay, but it's more focused on early game pressure and maintaining tempo through a low curve:

ArenaMastery tracks sitewide stats to give you an idea but nothing tracks it automatically. All of it is manual due to Blizzard's API.

Nobody is really sure how the new arena is shaking up as far as which CLASSES are better, though based on general stats, it looks like it goes:

Tier 1: Mage
Tier 2: Paladin/Shaman/Rogue
Tier 3: Druid/Hunter
Tier 4: Priest/Warrior/Warlock

Although, these stats are from ALL TIME arenas, not recent arenas, so I'd imagine Rogue is probably down a bit and Priest is up pretty high in the new stats.

I was running Druid mill for awhile... you have to outrace it and avoid drawing cards. Know what threats it's going to drop. Bluegill was just early removal for me

Berserker is meh but again I like the buffing bodies idea with enrage creatures

I agree with this. I don't think blessing of might is very strong. I'd almost definitely take a humility over it. Wisdom vs Rockjaw Trogg is a little bit of a tossup and I'd probably make my decision based on how many 4-drops I already had. I don't really care about humility in this deck, if they get out some fatty fats I'm basically screwed anyway with no hard removal... I'd rather get those extra beats in than take humility which will be a dead card 90% of the time

ok if anyone wants to use the spreadsheet i just randomly spent an hour making from various other spreadsheets, make a copy

put in the # of each card you have in the green spaces for each tab (legendary/epic/rare/common)

the "Calculations" tab will show you how many of each card type you have left and how much dust itll take to craft the rest of that rarity, and it will also show you what % of cards you own

The "Which Pack?" tab will calculate percentage chance of opening certain pack types and what the value of each pack is based on the number of rarity types you have of that set, and tell you which pack is more valuable to open

The way it tracks value, and I'm very bad at math, is by figuring out the amount of cards that would be FULL value (as in, you don't own a full set) versus the amount of cards that would be DISENCHANT value (that is, you already own the max amount [1 for legendaries; 2 for all others]). It might not be the right way to calculate it.

There is probably a more precise formula (taking into account cards you need at least one of versus total over total) but I feel this version gives accurate

enough

results.

The more complex formula would probably take into account the chance you'll get a certain rarity, then how many different iterations of that rarity you have versus how many you actually need, but that's a whole different ballgame I was not prepared to calculate. Coming up with the dust value of each unopened pack was hard enough!

I dunno. I mean, when you think about it, each class already has removal.

The real issue is having no neutral spells. While I get it's done for a reason, that means you end up with "spells on a stick" type cards like BGH. I think the main way you can fix BGH is to up the cost on it? Or change the effect... have it change the attack or health to 1 or something instead of straight up removing it. Make it easy to kill, but don't just straight up drop a dude and kill a dude for it.

Having it as a legendary, therefore capping it as a 1-of, would be good... and furthermore, having it cost 2 more mana would make it a later play and usually mean a 1-for-1

I just saw someone ask why people hate Hunters so much in Hearthstone, but Magic welcomes aggro players to the meta.

I wrote up a longer thing, but my basic point was that there aren't enough tools in Hearthstone to deal with aggro reliably. In Magic (excluding lands), it's not uncommon to see half of a control deck dedicated to removal/wipes, another quarter devoted to draw/counters, and then the last quarter devoted to win conditions. In Hearthstone, there aren't even enough spells to slot in half your deck for removal/wipes, even if you wanted to do so. I mean, shit, the only board wipes in Hearthstone are combos... you have to take up about 15% of your deck with combo pieces to even activate a board wipe.

It's why Zoo was so annoying. It's why people hate Face Hunter. I think Blizzard needs to carefully design the next few sets to give control decks more options for dealing with aggro rushes. Throw in a few more wipes/removal spells. MtG remains healthy and competitive because usually, in order to do well, you have to play decks that require higher level decision making. In Hearthstone, when you're playing a complicated deck, you can just easily get buttfucked by some asshole using Steady Shot every turn and beating your face in with Huffer.

Hmmm. Harrison & Black Knight are both really good, actually. I prefer TBK right now due to SLUDGE BELCHER MANIA... maybe wait and see what gets spoiled in Blackrock. If the meta's going super controlly then it changes what's good.

Also out of those I think Alex might be the most "universally good" neutral legendary. I just crafted Jaraxxus myself and he's fun to play w/ but... I dunno. I don't feel like he changed my Handlock deck that much.

@Glork: Yeah, I mean, both are really situational meta calls, though. I'd say right now, I'm seeing a ton of Mage, Shaman, and Warlock... and only one of those uses weapons, and the weapons that Shamans do use is limited to basically Doomhammer and Powermace. Doomhammer is a good Harrison target, but Powermace isn't. Although, nothing sucks more than playing Handlock and watching your opponent drop Harrison on your Jaraxxus, drawing 9 cards.

Priest is going to be the counter for all this bullshit. The Druids have a hard time hitting through taunts + heals, plus stealing their bigger guys is awesome.

The boardswarm decks like Hunter/Zoo get wrecked by Circle+Auchenai, or Drake+Nova.

Plus, Priest is completely modular. There are easy "packages" of cards to swap in and out based on what you're seeing. Right now I'm running the Shadow Madness+Recombobulator+Shrinkmeister package. If fatties start showing up again, I can put Vol'Jin+Smite+Nova back in the deck. If aggro becomeos more annoying, I can shove in the Chow+Deathlord+MCT package.

Basically, I'm loving how flexible Priest is and how easy it is to make changes on the ladder based on the meta at that rank.

Also, yeah, Resurrect is GREAT.

You can pretty reliably use it to get a 2 mana 4/7 with Injured Blademaster since it doesn't have the drawback.

And against aggro, using it to resurrect a Pyromancer is a pretty great board clear, especially when in combo with PW:S or Nova.

Later in the game, it could resurrect anything from a big legendary like Thaurissan or Sylvanas... it could resurrect an enemy minion that you stole at some point. You're AT LEAST going to go equal in value unless you happen to grab a Cleric, usually you get huge value gain from it.

They can't really nerf Hunter. Like...the most broken thing about Hunter is the hero power. And they're not going to redesign the entire class. So I wouldn't be surprised for them to leave "OP" non-aggro tools in an unnerfed state since that's really the only way they can counteract their broken class design.

You're going to be really far behind because Blizzard hasn't introduced any catchup mechanics yet.

When the game launched a year ago, there was only the basic set. Now, there's two full sets (GvG + Basic) and two adventures (Naxx + BRM). The adventures are great but those two alone are going to run you $50 for the both of them, that's without buying any packs.

You *can* have fun without spending money, but it's super difficult because the grind is so slow. Everyone is predicting some serious catchup mechanics because Blizz is going to start bleeding new players if they don't do something soon.

Neptulon isn't really played in Shaman Murloc, he's played for straight card advantage is some regular Shaman builds.

Voljin is probably the best. Al'Akir and Neptulon are situational

I had Axe Flinger in, but it proved to be bad, so I put in Hungry Dragon. Hopefully, the whirlwinds et al can clear the 1 drop, while the 5/6 Dragon can clear a few threats to keep me alive. Shield Block should be Battle Rage, I think, but I don't have Battle Rage and Shield Block also gives armor when I don't have Armorsmith. Raging Worgen should probably be Frothing Berserker, but I don't have any of those. Unstable Ghoul and Dread Corsair for cheap Taunts.

I'm looking at Revenge, since it has a lot of potential upside, but it costs more than Whirlwind and kills Grim Patron when the second part becomes active. I also have a Loot Hoarder and a Mad Bomber that I'm tempted to put in, but I have no idea what I'd cut. I also feel like Deathlord might be better than Dread Corsair, except that Dread Corsair gets really cheap with a weapon.

Huh, I never thought to put in Hungry Dragon in this deck. That actually has great synergy.

Frothing Berserker is pretty necessary.

I ran into a wall last night of facing a ton of priests and I gave up for the night. My list cannot handle the standard dragon Priest list at all... I basically have to save the single polymorph for Ysera, which makes early game really obnoxious. Gonna have to do some tweaking.

I still just can't believe Patron Warrior exists in its current form. The deck embodies everything that Blizzard has nerfed in the past. They fucking murdered Starving Buzzard because getting that much card draw was BS and it punished opponents for playing minions... kind of like Warsong+Patron does? They rekt Leeroy because they didn't like people being able to burst down OTKs from hand that easily by recurring huge charge threats... kind of like Warsong+Berserker does?

I honestly think that a slight nerf to Berserker (-1 HP?) and a big nerf to Warsong (mana cost +1) would fix the deck's problems.
