There is a picture of a chess piece. My first choice was the virus room, but the groupon that saved like 60 bucks only applied to the "game room". It's also the easiest one.
I've only made one good post, and don't you dare accuse me of doing it again.
I would suggest trying it out in computer form first
It's absolutely free via Vassal, and if you already have Table Top Simulator it is free with that. I'm playing it over TTS and think it is actually better digital as physical would be a huge space investment and I wouldn't have anyone to play it with.
There is also a computer version in the works. Pre-release is available on Steam and will include full content when game is out.
I think a work friend recently bought it so maybe I'll talk him into letting my girlfriend and I try it out with him one time.
As it is, I did get him into his first D&D campaign, so we can ruin each other's lives at this point.

Okay, guess I have to use it at a game night sort of thing eventually. It is a minimum of three players, but I think a max of 5, and we generally have 6 players at any function, though.

Okay.
Also, I finally played Ticket to Ride yesterday. It was a gift to my girlfriend and her brothers last Christmas and they have all been playing for a couple of weeks now that they have had the chance, so we finally got the opportunity for me to get involved in the train fun. Good game.

Oh, I forgot to mention I played a D&D adventure board game, Temple of Elemental Evil, and I guess if you want to do D&D and do not have a DM available, its an okay alternative.

I'm looking into getting the Marvel Champions deck building game any opinions? Keep in mind that I am not allowed to buy any more games until after my birthday this year so no big rush

I really want Root, it looks cool.
Had a game night on Saturday, but we had five players, so we only did Lords of Waterdeep and Cards Against Disney, still waiting on Brass: Birmingham and Gloomhaven to have the right amount of players to not just be me and my girlfriend with me struggling to know the rules, and her barely paying attention.

Just for clarity's sake, shaft.ed talked about Whitehall.
I did get my niece board games for Christmas this year, but she's three, so I got her Hi Ho Cherry-o Mickey edition, Enchanted Forest, and My First Carcassonne.
I'm definitely just going to be the board game uncle at this point because I have never seen the ukelele I bought her for her birthday which my sister insisted I had to get for her.

Also, will add, the same thing happened to a game from my childhood, Talisman. It's not nearly as much stuff as Gloomhaven but it is just as expensive now, since the previous edition was ended and they still haven't released the next one.

It's very hard to actually be bad at a TTRPG, basically, if you work with your teammates, you will be fine. I've been playing D&D for years, and am not great at roleplaying, but I still make it through.

So, for Christmas, I got a snazzy dice tower for my D&D addiction, also Dominion Adventures (Currently looking into getting Dominion since I don't have that yet).
Still have not played Cosmic Encounters, which I got last year for Christmas, and I also have a Justice League board game from my parents that I found cleaning up for them.
My fiancee got Avalon, Exploding Kittens and the expansion of Imploding Kittens, I still have not played Brass: Birmingham, either.
Basically, I have a long list of games to play...
Though, I did get to play Munchkin again, still a good game, would recommend.

Actually, we got more reliable as well, this year. The recent lapse of meetings is due to the fact that D&D needs a prepared DM, and we all still need to work.

I know my Brother in law wants to play, and he's expressed some interest in the Cragheart. I plan on filling in whatever they need when we finally do that 4 player campaign with him and his girlfriend.
Note, he's not my brother in law yet, but that's just easier since I dislike my actual brother in law and will never talk about him in a game thing since he won't play anything he decides is stupid, which is everything.

I will also say one of my choices for unlocking in a two player game was to assist in 3 life goals and get the music notes. I basically said fuck that.

Question for you all, how long does a game of Dominion usually last? Basically trying to see if I should even think about pitching for an after work activity or if it's a weekend thing.

Okay, I'll have to see what the fiancee feels like tomorrow, she's having a minor procedure on her foot, so, that's one possibility now that I have it if she needs to just be resting.
I was a little disappointed when I got Marvel Munchkin and discovered it's another 3+ player game. We have so many that we haven't played. I got Cosmic Encounters last year from her brothers and it's apparently also super involved.

There's one my Brother In Law was saying that this was a part of it. Like you could lie about having certain cards and if people call you out and you don't have it, the penalty is worse.

Board games update.
Game night last night we played a round of Munchkin Marvel. It was fun.
Bigger, we had a four player game of Gloomhaven after dinner.
Party was Brother in Law was Cragheart, his Girlfriend was Tinker, my fiancée was Spell weaver, and I was Mindthief. Well, we made it by the skin of our teeth on the first encounter. On literally my last possible turn I hit the last enemy hard enough to take him out because I had a bunch of debuffs on hitting. So, wow, we need to be better.

I feel bad that I took the kill 20 elites for it. Do I have to retire it when I fulfill that? Scabbers is real fun making the enemies attack each other

I was the only one really thinking about XP gains and my fiancée who was the spell weaver kept forgetting to use the ones to give exp.
Also we got 10 just for finishing the thing. One of them I got a few extra XP just for the fact that I hit things with multiple debuffs. All of a sudden one of my cards got me 4 XP

Okay, I finally saw my parents yesterday after they went to my sister's for Christmas, and my sister's in laws were there who I don't trust to follow Covid guidelines, but, I got Marvel Villainous from my sister. I took a quick glance, and I have no clue what to make of it. Or even really what it is other than the fact that I'll likely be playing Killmonger just because he's a cool ass character.
I'm just going to make a list of games I have but have not yet played which I will need to do when I have the appropriate amount of people and the time to do them:
1. Brass - Birmingham
2. Cosmic Encounters
3. Dominion with Adventures expansion
4. Some weird Justice League board game I've had for years but have never played and don't remember the name of
5. Marvel Villainous
Not as bad as I thought.

New Gloomhaven question, I was working from home yesterday, so, of course, did lots of Gloomhaven watching and downloaded a manager app because I love using my phone for that.
There's what I would describe an eyeball class unlocked in the app. That's not a starting class, right?

I've heard really good things and that's why I bought it but it's just so intimidating how much there is in the rule book. And it's competitive so unlike Gloomhaven where we're just working together to figure it out as we go, my fiancée and I are a little worried about getting that one right

Yeah, there are also a few games I thought when we moved into our own place, I'd be able to play with people on game nights (Cosmic Encounters) but, we moved in March 1, 2020 in New York. Two weeks before the shut down started.
