She was an odd sight, in a tavern packed with ragtag adventurers: books floating around her gently as if they were a shield, her eyes darting over their words rather than the others around her who viewed the display curiously; a short stature made apparent from how her feet barely managed to touch the ground from the bench she sat at; magician's clothing worn at the hems from where it perpetually dragged, a consequence of aforementioned height. A 'white collar' worker in the world of dungeoneers, without the calloused skin of battle marking her experience.

But it didn't phase her, the same way her solitude failed to. The books were a great crew of companions, and with each page turn she felt a little something within her. Her magic, tugging gently at her heartstrings with the pained dialogue of a character. She felt their pain as if it were real -- and for Ydrasse, it was.

Bibliomancy was a fickle thing. There were the minor prophecies, the foresight she trusted beyond anything else when she read an old scholar's tales. A magic meant to delve deep within the past to find forgotten paths, guiding her towards... something. Something that she hadn't quite figured out yet. It wasn't a mistake that she lacked the callouses. This would be her first adventure, far away from home where she spent years honing her powers into something passable as magic worth using.

But it was the other side of the coin that brought her here: the empathy. Sorrow and joy alike pulled from each word. Their writers were her mentors, each letter meant only for her from one thousand years ago. They didn't know her then, but perhaps now they did. The nuances of magic were funny; Ydrasse wondered if each time she laughed aloud, sensing the humors of a mage trapped within words, they could feel it echoing back to them. Or if their loneliness, written into their journals, lifted when she read and wept for them.

It was the latter that brought her here. Surrounded by strangers whose hearts she hoped were true and kind, wanting to help the poor village that called for adventurers to rid it of evil. Bandits and monsters, from the rumors, working in tandem with one another to bring chaos. It frightened Ydrasse, this senselessness, and frightened her more that she couldn't yet read one's face to be a bandit or ally. Even the ones that looked so innocent -- young, smiling girls too innocent to fight, bakers laden with cakes and rolling pins as weapons, the mages whose robes matched her own, and even a

dragon whose fire was contained only to parlor tricks

-- could be her enemy.

With a heavy sigh, she steadied herself. The books hovering around her personal world lowered gracefully onto the table that she commanded. It was rude, but this was the only way she felt safe until that moment. There was no more time to consider what needed to be done -- only to do it, wordplay little use compared to danger. If she was going to do good for this town, she needed to find help. Her own team, able to make up for the places she lacked.

The first step made her feel awfully small, but the weight lifted. The table she approached seemed a good start, all those innocent faces exactly her types. When she reached the edge of it, Ydrasse paused, before finally speaking: "I... I want to do something, to help all of you."

I liked her thoughts about Infinity being a wolf because Infinity was trying to be a hall monitor, it felt like it came from a good place and I also had a similar feeling about Infinity's posting.

I'm very easy to trick if you're just the least bit nice to me so I could be confusing my feelings about her with my view of her alignment.

She is such a sweet person that I could just be getting fooled here but I'd like to think I am not. It's very easy to exclude the outsider to be a consensus elimination when the playerlist is a group of people who are all quite friendly and know each other well and I felt the way she reached out to me to pull me into the game rather than leaving me out on an island came from a good place. I'd like to think she did this out of the goodness of her heart and that she is aligned with me and I do understand she could be doing this to get me on her side - however I have to hold true to what I believe.

Her mechanical speculation feels unplanned and random in a way that I don't think scum would do because scum should think things out to the end before they spew them into the thread but I guess she could just play scum in a suboptimal way.

I think the Dragon's plan is to have four of us be assigned to dungeon/guillotine (untrusted) and five of us level up (trusted).

they seem town but they have not been close to leaving their scumrange, however this morning their postings did make them go up in terms of my read on them here. As of right now srckz/ydrasse/anya/emily are slots I am willing to switch around and the rest are a bit more static in terms of being within the hurt/heal zone.

once i see anya actually push on someone i feel I will be able to discern their alignment better because that is something I can read better into I feel.

No, that was indeed the intent behind that post. As for why? Because I wanted to gauge her reaction firstly. Secondly, Ydra's (old) style complimented her partners in such a way that made almost all of her posts close to anti-spew. If she's scum this game and I'm giving off an inaccurate read, I wanted to force her hand. I put in her in a situation where I don't think she'd want to blow her cover. I don't know how much she respects my towngame but it was almost like a call-out. If she's town however? We reached some understanding and I got something out of it.

I thought of the send 2 people to dungeon thing before but the other scum could surprise help with the dungeon so I was like oh that doesn't work.
But I guess you would learn that one of the original two people who were assigned dungeon duty are scum so it would be worth it.

I think it likely keeps is from getting to cop ever because the most likely outcome is that three townies die night one but I think the large number of incremental advantages would be way better than a single cop shot.

I think the issue Koba has is that if you use the dungeon as a voluntary self-vig destination the only people who will die in dungeon are townies and we could end up at mylo very quickly.

The rewards get better as time goes on so you will lose access to some of the better rewards down the line.

if there is a mafia nightkill that comes from the 5 levelers, town tracker could pick that up and generate a semi-clear for tommorrow. there are many benefits.

actually now that I calculate the kills it is not good to use leveling tomm to sort the leveler side because we could get party wiped and lose the game at that stage.

However if a mafia from the leveler side has to do the nightkill it prevents them from picking up rewards from dungeon later.

Town koba is a fireball of aggression and their posts are crafted to try to keep scum on their toes. Scum!koba feels more akin to a swamp because they're so difficult to argue against, but if the aggression is there it's usually only directed in one place. For koba's first couple posts I saw the fireball-ness but it dropped off. I figured it was because of taking a different approach/possibly as a result of the hydra, but their posts since have been awful. I really don't think koba believed the push on isis, and resorting to language like "you're intentionally pushing anti-town mech" is much more swamp-like language than fireball-like language. There's no effort to make scum!isis scared, which is odd for town!koba when they haven't made up their mind yet. The walkback of the push is also awful, and I don't think town!koba ever townreads that post from isis especially when she has been making similarly nuanced posts all game.

I think I should express my thoughts fully on the unwnd-cakes slot because I think he is the more dangerous of my SRs and I might be quite wrong on Infinity.


One thing I find with unwnd is that he writes a ton. But his writing feels much more clear and focused when he is town - it's like watching a crystal clear mountain stream, you can see clean to the bottom. It has purpose, strength and flow that is soothing and beautiful.

However scum!unwnd's writing feels more like a muddy pond - words are thrown in to make it more dense than necessary, the goal feels like it's to create a lie, to manipulate your emotions and sympathies rather than something concrete and real. I feel his intentions are not honest.

I feel unwnd's writing as a whole has largely leaned towards the latter - it just feels off to me.


I think his play around several slots in this game have felt like scum feeling for opportunities to attack rather than town trying to genuinely create reads/engagement on good faith - it feels opportunistic in not a great way.


As to Cakez play in the slot:

I've already explained why I didn't like the way he caught up to the game, it felt like he hadn't been discussing in discord with unwnd what had been going on at all, bouncing ideas off unwnd etc - which I think they would be doing if they were town together here. It made Cakez Catchup feel
performative to me, like something he was doing to show us he was actually playing the game.

I dinged him on this and I didn't like how he ghosted the thread afterwards - I think I would've been happier with a more aggressive reaction or something approaching an explanation that made sense for the way he chose to engage. Instead Cakez kind of just noped out of the thread and it makes me feel as if the accusation hit home. It's like he thought he was dragging unwnd down by making a mistake and decided it would be better to just hide and let unwnd work his magic? I think the town version of cake would've been more aggressive in pushing back on my accusation.

I don't mind this read. At least in terms of how you've come up with it. While I won't batter you with my feelings of you calling my town insights a muddy pond, I think that I would prefer that you inscribe which details set you off. I also think your read comes from this snapshot of my play and a bit of paranoia, which paranoia does nothing for me. I try to be open and honest as possible almost to a slightly grating degree because I want my words to be listened to. If you (or anyone else) is not deciphering or getting anything out of what I've written I will rethink the process. The previous sentence actually plays in part of why I have been townreading Infinity because I think she shares the sentiment, just not maybe to entire degree.

I think you write beautifully and I enjoy reading what you write. You shouldn't change who you are for my sake or anyone else's.

My point is that I think your writing is designed more to hide and manipulate in this game and that's scummy for me.

You can read your own posts and see what I mean. Sometimes you write paragraphs and by the time I get to the end of them I'm confused what you're trying to even say.
